A&E Suspends Phil Robertson

Recommended Posts

Quote

What I find extremely amusing is that this redneck has a master's degree in education and taught high school before pursuing his dream. While in college he was the star quarterback for his team with Terry Bradshaw as back up. And lastly, his personal net worth is reported as $15M.

I love that man.Wink

Yes, that is just his personal net worth.
His eldest son actually owns the business and is considered to be a business genius by those who know him.

Also of note; all but one of the siblings hold at least a Masters degree from different highly ranked colleges.

The First amendment is not applicable her since A&E is a private enterprise and not government.

For all the verbal salvos hurled by both sides, at the end of the day, it will come down to numbers and of course what the Robertsons decide to do.

Right now, A&E is getting shelled by the fans of the show. A&E needs the Robertsons more than the Robertsons need A&E.

Who blinks first? Stay tuned.

I guess theirs already talk of Phil Robertson and Paula Dean getting together and doing a reality show on Blaze.

At our men's Bible study last night a visiting pastor made the prediction, "Phil Robertson publicly stood on God's word. Watch and see how God blesses him." I will be watching.

Another member, a retired pastor, works for a company that is in partnership with "The Duck Dynasty" and shares my hope that the show leave A&E.

At the same time that Robertson made news a great American and man of God passed away after dealing with cancer for fourteen years. That was on Wednesday around 1500. That man was Ken Hutherson, former NFL linebacker for Dallas, San Diego and Seattle and pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in Seattle, WA.

I watched a three hour special series on the Blaze TV about the Hutch's last days. He stated the same message as Robertson. He held the same belief in God's word. His main message however was that men need to accept the responsibility of being men and fathers. The Hutch was a black man.

Following another line of liberal logic, we need to recognize that the main problem is GQ magazine. If it weren't for GQ there would not have been the offense. GQ must be removed from stores.

How is your practicing Socialism working out for you, Ron?
Have you opted out of Social Security and Medicare due to your professed hatred of Socialism?
Or are you still a hypocrite that supposedly despises Socialism, while partaking of benefits from the most Socialistic programs that the USA administers?

I am betting that you still take the benefits, and still pretend to hate Socialism, except when you directly benefit from the Social Security and Medicare.

You do know that when the Republicans talk about "reducing entitlements", that is their codespeak for Social Security and Medicare benefit reduction/elimination. I am sure that you will be 100% behind their efforts, right up until your benefits are cut. Then you'll be whining real loudly about the evils of the MSM and Liberals, while supporting the Republicans/Teabaggers whose policies cost you directly.

This morning I read the following Scripture and I thought of you.

Luke 19
New King James Version (NKJV)
The Parable of the Minas

11 Now as they heard these things, He spoke another parable, because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately. 12 Therefore He said: “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. 13 So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’ 14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’

15 “And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. 16 Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’ 17 And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’ 18 And the second came, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned five minas.’ 19 Likewise he said to him, ‘You also be over five cities.’

20 “Then another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I have kept put away in a handkerchief. 21 For I feared you, because you are an austere man. You collect what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’ 22 And he said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow. 23 Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’

24 “And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.’ 25 (But they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas.’) 26 ‘For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 27 But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.'"

That is a really long way of saying that your self professed hatred of Socialism is merely the unthinking parroting if the crap you see on Blaze and hear from your "tribe".
You don't understand what the words really mean.
As long as you personally benefit from Socialistic programs, that is perfectly fine. Other people, nay, nay.

That leads me to the conclusion that your thoughts and words about God, Jesus, etc, etc come from the same level of comprehension.

Robertson deserved to be suspended. Actions have consequences. Running your mouth can get you in trouble. Most people learn this when their age is in single digits.

As I read your words I think, this poor man is so alone and hurting so much that peace of mind is utterly unattainable. You need Jesus, may you find Him soon.

"Robertson deserved to be suspended. Actions have consequences. Running your mouth can get you in trouble. Most people learn this when their age is in single digits."

Camille Paglia had this to say:

“I think that this intolerance by gay activists toward the full spectrum of human beliefs is a sign of immaturity, juvenility,” Paglia said. “This is not the mark of a true intellectual life. This is why there is no cultural life now in the U.S. Why nothing is of interest coming from the major media in terms of cultural criticism. Why the graduates of the Ivy League with their A, A, A+ grades are complete cultural illiterates, etc. is because they are not being educated in any way to give respect to opposing view points.”

Hey, call the guy a bigot. A racist. A homophobe. Sure, it's being intolerant, but it's not racist....

I agree with regard to the words used to criticize. Regarding the above quote, I don't think all examples of intolerance are equal. Some things are intolerable. I'm not saying we should make being a racist or a homophobe illegal, but socially, we should not tolerate them. They serve no benefit to society.

Actually what he said is not even close to what you post

But, that is how the apoplectic left is portraying it

I find this topic very enlightening

Cause it is easy to see who is interested in the truth

and who only cares about the sound bites and the agenda

it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

"Hey. They guy's a redneck. Born that way. What do you expect?"

Nobody said he was born that way.

The show is about a bunch of guys behaving like rednecks. I don't agree with A&E then being upset about one of the characters behaving like a redneck.

There was no talk about hating anybody.

Agreed. It is as silly as "Stunt Junkies" hiring Jeb to host the show because he was a BASE jumper...then firing him for trying to BASE jump the Empire State Building.:S

When the head of Chik-fil-A went on an interview and expressed his opinions, he had city legislatures threatening to yank his business permits and shut him down.

There are talk - along the lines of hot air. And I recall, at least for SF, it would be about permitting for a site, not revoking an existing one.

In any event, it would very likely be illegal to do, or again, just bluster. Mayors say a lot of things like that. It didn't speak well for them.

***I think his comments about happy, singing blacks not complaining about white people treating them badly while they worked the fields for them to be precisely that.
Racist.
.

Sorry, but in total, and in context it wasn't.

He knew a couple of happy black people pre-welfare. Wow. welfare must be bad for black people. :S

"I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field .... They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word! ... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues."

You cannot be tolerant and intolerant at the same time.

According to quantum theory, you can be tolerant and intolerant at the same time. In fact, if I know where I am, I can't be sure how intolerant I'll be. And people say there's no practical use for theoretical physics.
Carry on.
