Have you done your tax return yet

Recommended Posts

For for those of us in the USA, this Friday is the deadline to file your 2004 tax return. Have you done yours yet?

I am one of the world's greatest procrastinators as every year I always seem to wait for the last day (mainly because I'm usually having to pay the Feds $$$). Anyway, I jumped on Saturday. Got drunk Saturday night. Was totally hung over Sunday. Played volleyball tonight and am now drinking a beer saying ... "tomorrow". So if you need to file a USA tax return, have you done it yet?

just did 'em.

They're a lot easier if you do them online & submit electronically. piece 0' cake, really, & I had itemized deductions.

I recommend average1040.com. costs like 4 bucks or something to submit it.

I just got it done. On paper I made nothing:ph34r:. I should get a $30 refund. One jump ticket for me.

Yes and no. I owe $2,600 from a retirement transfer I did and didn't report on a previous year's tax return. I amended that return and filed it and also filed for this year's, but I haven't sent the money in cuz I managed to dig up enough itemized deductions this year to cancel the debt off and then some.

I figger I'll get back a measly $400.

For this year with my new job and no consulting going on, I've added an extra $250/paycheck on my withholding in case I go into the consulting again. If I don't do that, it will get me a $5,000 refund next year.

I do mine, my dad's, and my son's. Mine and my dad's are done (and Dad's is the hardest by far); my son's is still to do. But, well, he only worked for a couple of days last year, so it shouldn't be too tough (I may use the opportunity to teach him how to do his own darn taxes).

I used to be really bad at procrastinating on my taxes, back when I was still doing it myself. I almost always had to pay, what with all I earn on stock dividends, and not understanding the W-2 withholding options. Nowadays, I claim zero exemptions on my W-2's and have extra money withheld from my paycheck.

But now, owning a home and being married to a wife who racks up considerable medical expenses, which guarantees that I can cut my tax liability more through itemized deductions, I'm more than happy to let my CPA do my taxes. I should be getting the tax returns back today or tomorrow, ready to sign and mail.

Yeah...I did and mailed them in. It cost me $250 for my accountant to work miracles so that I owed less than $100 in taxes this year. [:/] I hate taxes!!!! >:(

Next year, I hope I actually break even or get a few dollars back. :D
