RALFFERS 0 #1 January 18, 2009 If you hookup something via an HDMI cable, does that 1 cable connect both audio & video? The reason I ask is because with standard AV cables, you have yellow for videoo, & then the white & red for left & right audio. The reason I ask is because, on my new TV I have 2 HDMI inputs, but right by both there are the 2 white in red audo input (1 set) Do these have to be used for audio via HDMI? What do I do if i need to connect 2 things via HDMI, & need audio for both *obviously).Dialogue/commentary between Divot, Twardo & myself - "from your first Oshkosh when the three of us were riding to or from one of

DeNReN 0 #3 January 18, 2009 You only need a HDMI cable for video and audio...and you also dont need to buy a expensive cable either...the cheap cables test the same as the expensive ones And...if using component video and you have extra "standard" cables around...no need to buy expensive component video cables...just match up the ports and use the ones you have... NewGuy2005 51 #4 January 18, 2009 QuoteIf you hookup something via an HDMI cable, does that 1 cable connect both audio & video? Yes, it does. The extra HDMI port allows you to connect another HDMI supported device. The red and yellow terminals next to the HDMi port are completely separate. If you are connecting a device that supports HDMI to your TV, be sure and connect it with an HDMI cable, even though it may have other types of connectors. HDMI will give you the best picture. prodiver913 0 #15 January 19, 2009 I have a PS3, Sony 5.1 surround and Phillips Amni-light LCD flatscreen. I use a regular HDMI cable from PS3 to TV for picture and a digital optical cable for audio from PS3 to sound system. Awesome everything!!!! I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death. normiss 622 #21 January 19, 2009 Between two devices anyway. I think he was saying he uses the HDMI between the TV and the DVD, AC-3 optical for audio to the surround sound system.I feed every device with HDMI, component, AC-3, and S-video connections to my receiver as some information is only carried on the S-video (receiver on-screen display for one), plus the video camera is only S-video...it's a mess of cables but I can accept any format. The receiver joins all the connections to the display output so it works nice.
