What do the worst drivers in your state/country drive?

Every other day in MD it's Subaru and Prius. [:/]

Yes, fuel tanker drivers are generally among the most experienced and safest drivers. Sometimes ice can fool you.

Yes they usually are, but ice fooling them is not an excuse. It was raining late last night and early in the morning. Everyone knows rain freezes below 32 degrees. Truck drivers are required to know that it freezes sooner on bridges and elevated highways. I understand people make bad judgments though, or he was too complacent for the conditions along with everyone else. These days everyone is in a hurry to get where they're going instead of leaving 5-10 minutes earlier and not having to rush and weave through traffic.

You are correct. It is nearly always the drivers fault. That will be considered a preventable accident. Driving too fast for conditions. He was also in the left lane, probably illegally. Quite possibly because he was passing cars that were smart enough to slow down. Then he had no where to go when he came upon the stopped traffic from the accident series that had already started. He may have chose to leave the roadway rather than rear end the stopped traffic. ABS braking systems would normally allow him to stop straight.

Subaru and Volvo.
But pretty much anything with a Cowboys bumper sticker
on it!!

When I lived in Texas:

Big pick-up trucks with double cabs.

offense: These drivers would stay in the left-most lane on the highway until about 50 yards before their exit, then without warning they will cross right in front anything in their way of to make the exit with a few yards to spare. They seemed oblivious the the fact that they almost caused 3 accidents from cars trying to avoid them as the made this abrupt maneuver.

Additionally they would throw cigarette butts and fast foot cups out of the truck with a "Don't Mess with Texas" bumper sticker on the back, entirely missing the point of the bumper sticker which was intended as a "Don't Litter" message. (Or at least that is the way it use to be when I lived there).

Now that I live in California:

Toyota Prius drivers,
offense: hyper-miling in the commuter lane, at 60 miles per hour when the flow of traffic is doing 77 mph.

My favorite Texas memory.

I just moved to Texas from Chicago, and on my first day the weather chilled down to about 34 degrees. No snow, no ice just a little chilly. As a pre-caution THEY SHUT DOWN THE ENTIRE HIGHWAY.

Just two days earlier I was driving in -10 degree weather with snow and ice everywhere in Chicago. Drivers there were driving like it was a normal day.... Because it was.

P.S. I don't usually judge people by the car they drive, but for the sake of this post I'll make an exception. :)

Not sure about who's worst around here; I walk a lot :P
But in Houston where I just moved from, it's gone from being the double cab pickups to just about anyone on a cell phone. Apparently it's safer to sit in the left lane going a consistent 65 while you talk (and slowing down to 55 if the conversation gets interesting) than it is to actually concentrate on operating the piece of 2-ton heavy machinery you're occupying.
Of course, if you're texting instead of talking, you have to slow down a little further.
Remember, it's legal to both talk and text while driving in Texas. We wouldn't want to rob one of the opportunity to make stupid decisions while risking others' lives, would we? :S

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

In Florida, it's a Buick or a Cadillac. It's usually older, and it's always huge.

The best are the blue ones with six people with white hair sitting in them. It looks like a Q-Tip box.
Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.

Don't know what part Fl ya talking 'bout. It's 6 blue hairs in a white caddy down here. Well, pretty much any color caddy, on their way to the early bird special. Same thing when they are headed to the casinos with all their quarters.

Today, it was a new Audi with a tag on the back saying "IMNBR1".

I had just merged on the highway and was about up to speed in the far right lane when that motherfucker came screaming up in the left lane, and blew around a vehicle in that lane using the middle lane and then moved back over to the left lane. There was nothing out there in front of him. Going at least 85. If he didn't have that personalized tag, I wouldn't have thought about it, but he did and I just had to put him and his ego in his place. Sped up, caught up to him and blew by him and moved over to the left in front of him and kept on going. :)

The tag turned out to be a realtor's tag. Oh well.

Crotch rockets!

Every once in a while I see one of those go zooming down the highway at 130 mph or so, banking left and right around cars. Fucking stupid motherfuckers. There's a couple of motorcycle racing tracks within 30 miles. I wish they'd take that bullshit to one of them. :|
