  1. Ok. I am the guy trying to demo this 150. What I was told is that they had several demos stolen somehow. Maybe they were taken at boogies or stolen from people who were demoing them. I dont know, that part is not my problem. However, I was told because of the theft that they do not have a 150 available for demo. But the 135 was offered to me. Not doing that because a I value bones that are intact. The other "alternative" I had was to order a canopy in the 150, give a down payment on the order and if I dont like it, I can send it back. Ok, I am demoing two other canopies. So why would I do this. I have never flown the Samurai and I will not purchase one without flying it first. No matter how good of a canopy anyone says it is.
  2. Are you using a wide angle lense with the night vision? If so this is the problem. Try it with and without the wide angle and you will see what I am talking about.
  3. The rubber band provides enough friction to lock the zoom ring and comes on and off as many times as you want without worring about tape-gunk on your camera. Quote Or just buy the Gaffers tape and then you dont have tape gunk either. (unless you leave yhe tape on for a long period of time)
  4. Well i had a demo of the Nitro this weekend Quote I am going to demo this canopy. What did you think of it?
  5. just got back from buying a firewire card. Quote No more probelm then......
  6. for years.... before cam eye II I would carry a small mirror ( like a cosmetic folding mirror)...to check my lights..it works very well. and goes right into my jumpsuit leg pocket just before climbout ........ Quote I still use the mirror since my LANC port on my camera is busted. Works great!! and I can get myself in the video to!!
  7. Be happy they are even contacting you for a demo. I have one manuf who won't even respond to me about getting a demo. I thought 60-65 was the going rate. Quote Actually I am having the same result with one of the companies. I was quoting thier demo price from thier web page.
  8. ok. I have contacted two companies about getting a demo. Are the prices on demos going up or something. Both places want over $60 for a weekend. I realize that there is a lot in sending out a demo including what has to be done when it gets back. But these prices are just getting too high. Anyone else with these experiences. Im not sure if I want to mention compay names yet.
  9. There are two things on the FF2 that can be a littlte better. And yea I do have one so these are my personal experiences with it. The chin cup is not the the most comfortable one out there. Someone on another thread recomended switching to another brand of chin cup. Also the hinged cover for the camera could come about another 1/2" to help protect the wide angle lense. All but about a 1/4" of my wide angle lense is enclosed in the box. I had a riser slap the lense a couple of weeks ago and it snapped the lense off. While I feel this a freak accident (still not sure how the risers got so far in front of my face like that) If the box was a little longer in the front the risers would have struck the box instead of my lense. My lense is the same length as most peoples so I do not have an abnormally long lense hanging out there. Other than those two things, this is one of the best helemts out there. Definately the best in line snag protection. The helmet is custom fit for the diameter of your head, and they did an excellent job of making mine fit perfectly. This helmet is worth the price. Also, if you price around, The price is only about $25.00 more than most others. The reason being, Most other helmets are expensive already but you still have to buy a d-box. By then you are at the price of an FF2. Plus with the FF2 there is no building neccessary. The mount inside is variable in that you can swivel the camera angle up or down to match your needs. I can go on and on....
  10. So does this mean that "The Farm" will running every weekend now?
  11. I will see if I can borrow one. Lee has a rage 170 that I have been wanting to try. Maybe this is a good time to do it. I will let you know. Thanks.
  12. Im willing to try. Although last time we talked I was saying that my stall point with the breaks is already pretty deep into the brakes. Im afraid if we lengthen too much it will take away from my effective flare and put the stall point out of my reach. Any thoughts on this?
  13. Not to him you wouldn't....right Quote Nice to know someone out there is lookin out for me.....
  14. Ah.... I have a 97 I would consider selling Quote No thanks, Im not interested in killing myself yet. I am looking for 150 or 170. Also, I am not completely decided on a crossfire. I am considering other canopies as well. Just doing some homework before I go and purchase something.
  15. Oh you mean a movie leader. Sorry. No you cant use the memory stick to put movie leaders back on the tape. I thought you were talking about a picture leader. Besides movies on the memory stick are in mpeg format and therefore not good quality anymore.
  16. I have a stroboframe and I have also had a reserve opening with it. I have also had hard enough openings to give me whiplash. All with my stroboframe. I think this was just an unfortunate accident. Things will happen. I have seen the screw break and let a camera go. I would not write off stroboframe.
  17. can you zoom in a little closer, I cant see the cut. If the finger hasent already fallen off......Dont worry about it.
  18. Also, I have been looking around to price out the crossfire. New or used. Dropzone doesnt have any listed in the size I am looking for. Anyone know of some good sites to check out?
  19. When I make my tandem videos I do all the editing on the camera itself, including putting a leader on the beginning and end of the tape. This is easily done using the memory stick. That way when I go to make the DVD/VHS, all I have to do is let the DVD record untill the footage has finished. I add in the music with an editing board on the fly while the footage is playing and being recorded. This way, only one chapter is made. I do not have to start and stop the recording with this method.
  20. How many jumps on your line set? When I re-lined my Stiletto, it was back to the snivelly openings of yester-year. I can pull in a track, once in a while get a snappy opening, but the great majority are quick and pretty soft. I have know other people that got a lot of hard openings on Stilettos, though. You might also give PD a call and see whether they have any suggestions for you, such as a slightly different size of slider, etc. Quote The line set has around 200 jumps on it and I have already sent it to PD. They claimed it opened great. Out of 10 jumps this weekend I had two that were instant. That is a low figure for me. It can be as much as 50%. And as I am a videographer who can not always pick and choose my packer I am through with the stilletto. I am in the market for another canopy that will give me around the same characteristics of a stilletto but with better and more consistent openings.
  21. I have a stilletto 170 and am thinking of going to a crossfire 2 170 or 150. The main reason is openings. I am tired of being whacked by my stilletto. Can anyone comment on the openings and the flight characteristics vs the stilletto?
  22. I see what you are asking. On this I am not sure. I know on the Phillips that every time you start and stop recording it will create a new chapter. Although I think there is a way to combine them into one. I wont be able to find out untill this weekend since the recorder I use is at the DZ. Sorry.
  23. The Phillips recorder will act just like a vcr. I would assume the one you have will also. The chapter thing is a feature which the factory sets to on. Read your manuall and it should tell you how to turn off the auto chapters.
  24. Here are some interesting facts about what government has to say about sex... Another good one is... Check out the rest http://www.lectlaw.com/files/fun23.htm
  25. Pay the little extra and get the colored piping of choice 2. It makes the rig stand out much better.
