  1. In some cases it may be that the footage has been reviewed and then manually stopped a second or so past the end of the scene, but that doesn't cause Pinnacle Studio (which I use) a problem. Quote In iMovie, that will casue a problem. If the scenes have been rewound and not taken to the end of the scene in the camcorder, then it will not recognize the different scenes. This is not a big deal though, Just manually split them. i Movie does this pretty easily.
  2. I just picked up a PC101 for $560, thats sniffing.Quote Where did you buy the camera? Did you get new or used? Thats about half off ... good price.
  3. I have the Sony PC-101. I use the standard size baterry. I bought an extra to leave on the charger just in case. In the summer, I would get as many as 7 full length tandem videos on one charge. which for me was a full days worth of jumping. In the winter I might have to swap once, but since the battery charges pretty quickly this is never an issue. I know lots of people that jump the larger batteries and they dont complain about weight issues. Also, for me the D-box I have will not fit the larger battery. Might want to verify that before buying. Hope this helps.
  4. I called Clark Howard on this one. He is a radio talk show host that deals with money issues. The thing to watch out for here is what is called Gray Market Products. The items are O.K. but they are meant to be sold in another country other than where you are living. So if you are from the US then it is not meant to be sold here. The main problem with this is that if there is a problem with the camera, it has to be sent to the country it is supposed to be sold in to be repaired under warranty. Of course then you have to hope it comes back. So now you have to decide whether it is worth the gamble. There are other issues about buying on ebay, like is it what they are advertising? I strayed away from ebay on this one. Only you can decide.
  5. I ran the search for this mystical hemlemt. Several people say they have seen or even own one. Yet no pictures seem to exist. Kind of like Big Foot.
  6. Ok. Now a question about good opening canopies. What are the favorites for good openings. I still want to have fun under caopy, so I dont want something docile, but I dont want a neck breaking canopy either. I currently jump a Stilletto and am having problems with it slamming me.
  7. Why is it so important to get the hands on the risers imediatley during the opening? Other than to steer it, or is that the only reason?
  8. We had a guy at my DZ get one and get a d-box for it from bonehead. I know that the actuall dimensions are not much bigger, but when you see it in the d-box in person..... Well, I wouldnt side mount it.
  9. I agree. That thing is ugly. Not to mention, I could go buy a piecr of sheet metal and make the same thing out of almost any helmet. Also, I would want to fill in all those gaps with spray foam and then form a nice curvature for the helmet so that anything slapping against it would slide off nicely. Seems like this helmet needs to back to the design stages. Just my opinion...
  10. I might have to drill through from the inside of the helmet. I contacted Claudio at Rawa, and he is gonna try to dig something up. Quote I have the PC-101 I had to use a drimmel tool to cut part of my d box away at the back side so that the plug would fit around to the LANC port. But in retrospect I should have drill a hole in the d-box where the it fits up against the helmet. The reason I say this is that doing it the way I did causes the came eye cable to have a slight bend in it at the plug. After a while this caused my plug to go bad as the constant beding of the wire broke the wires from the plug itself. I had to solder a new plug on. Not a big deal but it can be prevented by some careful planning.
  11. Mine broke after many jumps. Probably due to the way I had to bend the wire to plug it into my Pc-101. The PC-101 has the plug on the inside part of the camera. Anyway, I went to radio shack and bought a new 3-wire plug and just soldered a new plug on for myself.
  12. Does anyone have a link to a picture and info on this helmet? I have not yet heard of it.
  13. You can tape it to the outside or you can drill holes. The tape does not look as good though. If you drill you will probably have to splice the cam eye wire to get through the hole. If you do this make sure you solder it back insead of just twisting the wires together. I used the tape method and after taping my cam eye along with the tounge switch along with taping any snag points my helmet is now dubbed the Gaffer. I recomend hiding it all under the padding. I will next time.
  14. Does any one have a good place to buy Mini DV tapes, Sony Brand Premier, and batteries for the Rebel G? Looking for the cheapest place that is trust worthy.
  15. Ok I also video tandems but am unaware of any needed rating for this.
  16. As a camera flier I'm supposed to have a rating, so I got the Coach Quote where does it say that you are supposed to have a rating since you are a camera flier...would that not exclude almost every free flier with a camera from jumping?
  17. I have posted my gear on Dropzone.com. Where else is a good place to post gear for sale?
