  1. His thinking was probably that because you have to pull the bridal out of the canopy when it is rolled and place it on the side, that the canopy would start to develop friction burns. Unfortunately, not a lot of folks clear the bridal when they Psycho Pack. This was probably to prevent wear and tear. When I first learned to Psycho Pack, the head Rigger @ my home dz made me a bridal extension for the top of my canopy to prevent friction burns. It worked great for the time that I was Psycho Packing. I would recommend taking the extension off if you aren't Psycho Packing though. I believe that (1) as long as your lines are in the middle of the canopy, and are clear (2) the stabilizers are clear (3) and the slider is clear, your canopy will MOST likely open without any problems. I have come to a conclusion when it comes to parachute openings...... PARACHUTES DON'T WANT TO BE IN THEIR BAGS, THEY WANT TO OPEN!!!
  2. Skydivers cant forget to mention Joe Kittinger.
  3. Was the d-box cover open? The d-box on my Rawa doesnt have the viewfinder hole. I would have to have the d-box cover open in order to look through the viewfinder. Just wanting to try your method. Thanks.
  4. Lou, how do you use the paper reinforcers when you cant look through the d-box to check the site? Just curious. Thought about doing this, but I cant have someone site me in. Thanks.
  5. I have a Rawa and absolutely love it. I would suggest that you get the 2 hole d-box for both HD and sit flying. With the single hole d-box, I really have to look at the other persons head when sit flying. If I look at their body or feet, the video chops their upper body off. With the 2 hole d-box, you just flip your camera over and dont have to worry about where you are looking. The only problem that I have with mine, is that I have a Sony PC-101 camera, and the lanc ports are on the side that sits up against the helmet. This prevents me from being able to install a Cam-Eye, and so I always have to look in the mirror or ask someone if I have a red light. Other than that, it fits very comfortably, it is an awesome product for the price ($320 fo everything), and I havent had any problems with riser strike. Also, Claudio at Rawa is VERY easy to do business with, and he can hook you up with all the info you want.
  6. We have both the TRV-38 and the new BH D-Box. Yes, you will still have to screw the box on top of the helmet. We dont care for the new closing system that BH has on the d-box, but we just added a couple of bungee cords and velcro strips and it works fine.
  7. I cant say with 100% certanty without asking him directly, but rumor has it that former US Navy Test Parachutist Gordon Foster is THE man that invented the original piggy back system.
  8. Thanks for the pics. Is the camera in the photos a PC-101? I dont have my camera in front of me, but my PC-101 has all of the A/V ports on the opposite side of the LCD screen, which would be up against the helmet towards the inside when I wear it. I might have to drill through from the inside of the helmet. I contacted Claudio at Rawa, and he is gonna try to dig something up. Thanks again Lou. MFFP#15022
  9. Thanks for the info. Do you have any pics? MFFP#15022
  10. Has anyone seen a Rawa set up with a Cam Eye? I am thinking that holes would have to be drilled into the side of the D-Box.... I'm getting tired of looking in the little mirror to verify my camera is on. Thanks.
  11. Has anyone used either the new Sony TRV-22 or TRV-33? If so, how does it compare to the PC-101 as far a picture quality or quality in general? Thanks for your help.
