  1. So that's 17 or 18 people per load, and each load about 11.9 min, not allowing for the inevitable refueling, loading ect, What was your exit altitude? Congrattulations, I doubt it's been done before. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
  2. Henry I don't know where you got your ideas or rumors from. But I don't ever recall anyone saying he was smoking pot. Maybee he was but I don't know that and havn't heard it. He was tired from working all night and then jumping all day. This was the second time he forgot his rig that day as stated by others in this thread. From the reports I read at the time, which was right after it happened the video was a belly mount rig. I don't know how you could fit one of these things under your back pack. Any ways I guess the piont is that we should stick to facts on a thread like this rather then rumers and inuendo which do nothing to educate and possibly besmurch the memory of someone who may have alot of friends still involved in this sport. Live hard and land soft. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
  3. What's your choice of video camera and why? I am trying to entice a company into sponsoring an event in NZ. and could use some data. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
  4. Hope your healing process will speed up. If good wishes are worth anything you have all mine. we first met in 1973 I think it was, at the old Port Severn drop zone. Remember the hart? You were an insperation to a lot of us newbies at the time and from the post here are still an insperation to a lot of people today. A man can seldom recieve better praise then the unqualified respect of his peers, and I dare say you have ours. Blue skies and long life to you Bill Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
  5. I just read your profile - Dave McEvoy was on this demo along with Rick, I think Peter Nobbs and Geoff Holmes were the other two in volved. As far as I'm aware Rick was the only one to get sucked up as it were. say Hi to Dave,Egon, Sarg and the rest for me when you see them next. 6. Quite a few years ago, there was a story in Parachutist of an Aussie demo *** This was one of the Ramblers from Toogoolawa, first name Rick, I don't remember his last name, and he got quite a good paycheque from Readers Digest for the story. True story, not an urban legend, I knew him and I spent several years jump at that DZ. They were practicing a CRW demo for the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane. Long and short of it was he had to be collected from a Pub he landed near, Or so the story was told to me by him. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
  7. *** I didn't know about the one at Gan.!!! I was refering to one of the Coldwater guys. Don't remember his name, red head from Sudbury. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
  8. One off the guys in Ontario in the mid 70s lost finger when a glove that got ripped off on exit and floated around the inside of the plane. Also not re-attached. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
  9. Hold monthly scrambles comps where the teams are pulled out of three hats organized by experiaaance levels. We used to do that at Toogoolawah and always got good turn outs followed by good parties. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
  10. His review was correct, I taped it off late night television back about 89 or 90 and though I havn't seen it for some time now, it can still make me laugh. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
  11. August 73 when I was 19, first jump class was me, my father and my uncle both in thier mid 40s at the time. First jump cost $45 then end we had a three way $20 dollar bet as to who whould jump first, so in the end my first jump cost $5 bucks!! 12. Early to mid 60s a film called the skydivers hillarious and with some very good early footage. Plot realy sucks though! Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
  13. Sounds like a very normal story as skydivers go. Been there done it myself and know so many others as well. How you deal with it is up to your own nature. No one can tell you if it's your wife or your sport you should value most. In your own hart you will make the decision for yourself, but do take the time to discuss it with your wife and be honest about it with her. She may come around and accept it. 14. Walking on Sunshine had some good footage in it Forget who the artist was Katrina something or other. I also saw a video done to Van Halen's Jump very well done with the skydivers lip sinking in freefall. We used to use a 185 At Toogoolawah in the eighties that had an awsome stereo in it, Bill the pilot/owneer used to crank it up on exit, and I can remember launching a five way with all of us singing the song as we went, and yes it did funnel without the proper count!! 15. The beer rules evolved some time well after I started jumping, which was 1973.*** I started in August of 73 at Port Severn Ontario, the beer rules were firmly entrenched then. My impresion was they had been going for quite some time already by then. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI

  20. I never met the guy but was a fan. I was there the day he jump from the CN Tower in Totonto, my home town, and got this photo. Pushed a couple of news paper boys out of the way to get close enough! I believe he was the first to jump from plane to plane, docking on the lower wing of a Stearman in a dive. Made it look easy actually. If memory serves I think he never broke a bone during one of his stunts. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
  21. Well the original post in this thread was asking for info on current DC 3s dropping jumpers but has changed to a nostalgia tour of old Dac's we all used to jump. So here is my contribution The DC 3 on landing roll is dragging Capt Micheal Reid of The Canadian Armed Forces from the door. This was Boxing day 79, Micheal was rear float wearing one of those ridiculous balloon suits we all used to think were necessary for rel work. His cuff got locked around the bottom hinge of the rear door at exit and he rode the whole way down from 12500 like that. If memory serves me right, the pilot had no idea he was there. In the end he required a new reserve, container, and hockey helmet, all of which were worn away on the run way. Second photo is one we used in Aussie every once in a while. Used to arrive as a charter plane, seats and wall sconces and window curtains, just like an airliner of the 40s & 50s. We would all help strip it down for the weekend for jumping and put it all back together again at the end. This was a very well maintained bird and did a lot of bussiness doing out back tours of Aussie. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
  22. Ya bill I have all the respect in the world for you, but I know PAT when they operated at Arthur did relativly huge numbers for Canada, especialy in the eighties, and the numbers quoted are not unrealistic. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
  23. Back in early Feb there was a thread about Jerry bird having a heart attack. Last I read about it he was recovering, but then I've heard nothing since. Is he on the mend and hopefully fully recovered? Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
  24. Possativley the correct thing to do, I hope the staff members appreciated the piont. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
  25. My uncle tried it in the mid 70's at Coldwater Ontario, down the run way behind a pickup truck, result 20 feet of altitude followed by a broken ankle. They and PCs work fine if you're going dead straight the problem comes when they start to turn and take a dive. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
