  1. I think that people who do bad things find ways to justify what they do and don't see what they do as being bad. That way they don't feel bad about hurting others. example for con artists If they are gullible enough to be duped by me then they don't deserve their money. That way I don't have to feel bad about taking it.
  2. People are not usually very happy if they don't consider themselves successful. I used to think like you do. I thought I wouldn't be successful unless I reached a certain destination. Now I consider myself successful as long as I am on the path to do all the things I want to do. Being on the path and moving forward is more important then reaching all the way points. Also don't make the path too narrow or you will never be able to stay on it.
  3. Maybe you need to reevaluate your criteria for success? For some being successful means having lots of things or maybe having lots of nice things or having a really expensive house. Others consider themselves successful by having a big family. The question you need to answer is what your definition of successful is and are you living it? For some success is a destination and the holding on to it. For others its a journey. The question are you successful has many answers. All you need is one. Yours.
  4. It should read transvestite gives birth. But then it wouldn't be as dramatic.
  5. Parental responsibility doesn't end once you get to the drop zone. Sounds like this mom didn't really want to be a parent while she was at the drop zone.
  6. when you remember routinely using wind drift indicators. That's way before my time.
  7. No matter what helmet you use I think the HC5 is the best camera for freeflying. I would prefer a solid state camera like the CX7 or CX12 if they didn't have OIS.
  8. I have the FF3 with an HC5. I now have about 300 jumps with it. I previously had the FF2 with HC20. The only time I really noticed the difference in weight and size was the initial few jumps. After that I have never really noticed the difference. I have never had a any riser strikes so far. Nearly all of my jumps have been vFS 4 way video or freefly fun jumps. I don't use a ring sight.
  9. As fast as Mandrin and Arsenal are moving there isn't any time for talking.
  10. I would be interested in all of those topics, but more interested in the still camera then the others. Just because I just bought a still camera and really don't know anything about photography.
  11. Don't worry about breaking a steering line. Those lines would need to be in really really bad condition for you to be able to break them, by bad condition I mean so bad no one would jump the canopy with them being that bad.
  12. I love to watch vFS video. I think there is always something to learn from all of them. Besides that it always makes me want to practise that much more. I was on 301. Thanks for sharing your tent and tarp Thursday.
  13. Thanks for your hard work. BTW 303 RD3 on the Nationals page is a dead link.
  14. I am finally going to add a still camera. Right now I am looking at buying the XS, is there anyone out there using this camera?
  15. I can only speak for myself. Laziness? I had almost 1000 jumps before I got my B and C license. I was able to do all the things I wanted to do with just an A license at the time. I then wanted to compete at Nationals and needed at least a C license, so that is all I have right now. I don't have any instructional ratings, because I don't want to work when I go to the dropzone, so I don't really need a D license. I am thinking of getting my D just to have it. Who knows I may change my mind one day and get the instructional ratings.
  16. Have a few shots of tequila and some beer. They will start moving!
  17. Last year they posted them on the events main page. I haven't seen any videos yet.
  18. Where is Billy Godwin these days? Jumping with Flying Elvis?
  19. I don't think there is a DZ in Gainesville anymore. The North Texas Skydiving Center is in Caddo Mills.
  20. I agree with every thing in your post. Most of my video has been freeflying, either fun jumps, 2 freefly or 4 way VRW. The few times I did video for RW I talked to as many of the RW video guys as I could and asked as many questions as I could think of. They gave me some great pointers and things to look out for. After Nationals I am looking at doing some Tandem video and because I have never done any I will working as closely as I can with those who do it all of the time. My learning curve won't be near as steep as someone who only has 200 jumps and has never jumped a camera at all. Each type of video jump has it's own little nuances that need to be learned and each is diffucult in it's own way. The key is to learn from those who have the experience. One more thing, if you don't have the skydiving skills to be able to fly your body as necessary then all the advice in the world won't help you.
