  1. Really, Really cool!! But my 3 year old walked in while I was watching it so we'll probably never be able to go to the circus again Blue Skies, Jason
  2. Both times that I have bought new gear it has all matched. Every other time that I have bought used gear it didn't match. If I had the money to buy new everytime it would all match. Blue Skies, Jason
  3. Just used super glue to fix the velcro on my Optic. Worked like a champ!! Don't know why I didn't think of that sooner. That's what I love about these forums, sometimes you actually get some useful info. SOMETIMES! Thanks and Blue Skies, Jason
  4. I'd be interested in it personally and I might get a couple of DZO's on board if I can convince them that it is in their best interest (because it is!) I agree with everyone else that $75-$100 would be reasonable. I beleive it would pursuade more of us to go royalty free if we can just buy some easily instead of having to search for it. Yeah, we're lazy. Thanks for being willing to do the leg work for us. Please keep us posted when/if it's available. Blue Skies, Jason
  5. LOL! Yeah, It was kinda odd and very unsettling. I had pretty much forgotten about it untill you started this thread, now I can't get it out of my head. Thanks a lot!! Blue Skies, Jason
  6. That is just too weird! Reminds me of that Robin Williams movie, The Final Cut I guess it could be a good thing though if they can use it to help some one see again. Blue Skies, Jason
  7. We offer a few options at my home DZ. 1) Video only $75 2) Stills only $75 3) Vid/stills combo $100 (our most popular choice) 4) Hand cam $75 (offered only when we don't have enough outside video guys or enough room on the plane) No one is shooting HD yet and we haven't had any demand for it AFAIK. I plan to make the move to HD in the next year or two if the Sony CX100 continues to get good reviews after more of them are put into service in the field. I plan to use DSE's software to speed the editing process. I may hold out for the all in one Vid/stills camera that DSE keeps hinting about so I can leave my DSLR on the ground. Most of us are still editing analog(mixer, titlemaker). We do have a couple of guys that use NLE(computer). I beleive all of our guys have gone to Digital Stills. We may have one or two that help out on occasion that may be using film. If I do get a student that has paid for vid only, I will tell them that I am going to shoot the stills anyway since they are digital and it doesn't cost me anything. Then, I show them the pics when we get down. 95% of the time I sell the stills! I call it the 3 S's of digital stills Shoot 'em, Show 'em and Sell 'em. Hope this helps. Blue Skies, Jason
  8. I stopped by my local Office Max this evening and they have Magnavox 1-16x DVD+R or DVD-R 100 count spindles for $14.99 (regular price is $54.99) and Magnavox 52x CD-R 100 count spindles for $14.99 (regular price $29.99). After a quick search online, it looks like the DVD's are a pretty good deal and the CD's are an OK deal. I couldn't find the DVD's on their website but here are the cd's. Sale ends Sat. March 7th. I bought 200 of the DVD+R's and 100 of the CD-R's. Hope this helps someone. Blue Skies, Jason
  9. Thanks for posting this. I hadn't heard. I have very fond memories of listening to him with my dad. Even as a kid he was able to keep my attention, not an easy task for anyone, especially someone talking on the radio. BTW, I'm only 34. Blue Skies, Jason
  10. Hey Mike, WOW, that sounds like an awesome program. I believe it will defiantly help with student retention. Thanks for making the effort to help grow the sport. I really wish we were able to support an AFF program in Tullahoma (THA) so we didn’t have to tell those pumped-up first timers who ask “what’s next?” that they are going to have to go to our “other dropzone located in west Tennessee” to continue their training which is usually not an option for them so they walk away from the sport. I guess the first step toward that goal would be for some of us “local guys” to get off our butts and go get our coach and AFF ratings, which I (and others) would be glad to do if we are going to be able to “put it to use” if this program is implemented at THA. In response to that statement, is there anything we can do to help the experienced jumper situation in THA? Without going into the details here, I believe there are several things that would help (which you, Steve and I have discussed before) that I would be glad to share with you again if you think it would be beneficial. Thanks again for your continued commitment to the sport and I am really looking forward to getting the season started in THA soon.
  11. Hey DSE, Thanks for an awesome reveiw of this camera! Sounds like it is the bomb! I am really glad that I have waited to make the jump to HD (mostly based upon watching your comments here about better things to come). Having said that, is this cam as good as it is gonna get (for the near future) and we should all go out and get one now or is the next generation or two of this cam gonna be even better (size, features, functionality?) which might be worth waiting another year or so for? I do have a couple of questions about the review. 1) Will the HypEye D Pro let you know if you are attempting to record with this manual lens cover CLOSED? If not I can see some gaff tape being used to keep it open all the time. 2) I beleive the last word in this paragraph should be disabled. I know you said it was a rough draft, I'm just trying to be a blessing. Thanks again for all that you are doing for the skydiving community in general and for us vidiots in particular. Blue Skies, Jason
  12. WOW!! I don't think I have ever seen a thread page where every post was made by a "greenie" This is good stuff!! I just had to break the string. Blue Skies and please keep up the good work guys! Jason
  13. So, what are you gonna do for a wide angle lens? Blue Skies, Jason
  14. Opps! Wow, am I embarrassed! I guess that does explain why I didn't find it with a search. Please feel free to remove this thread as well if you wish. Blue Skies, Jason P.S. So I am assuming they are legit but overly aggressive.
  15. It looked real to me but I am a bit naive. Looks like they haven't posted here (if I did the search correctly) and you would think that anyone in the world would know that dropzone.com is THE website for skydivers. (oops, did I get a little brown on my nose??) Blue Skies, Jason
  16. This thread was posted on skydive radio's forums. http://skydiveradio.com/Forums/tabid/80/forumid/11/threadid/294/scope/posts/Default.aspx Does anyone know if it's legit? Blue Skies, Jason
  17. seems to be working now http://www.precision.aero/ Blue Skies, Jason
  18. Would you like to share any information or just tell us that you know more than us? I'm sorry, I didn't intend for my post to sound like I know more than anyone else. To sum up Mike's comments in a nutshell please see Jerry's post below Blue Skies, Jason edited because Jerry's post wasn't here when I posted this originally.
  19. I just got off the phone with Mike. I called to ask about getting a copy of the last issue (my sub. ran out before I got it) and we talked for probably 30 min. (when I apologized for taking up so much of his time he said "that's OK, I have a lot more time now" ) He answered all of the questions that I had and I totally understand why they are "suspending publication". I did take the opportunity to personally thank him for his contribution to the sport for over 30 years and expressed to him how much we are going to miss the magazine. Blue Skies, Jason
  20. This is the same pic and application that is posted on USPA's website here: http://uspa.org/BecomeaSkydiver/YourFirstJump/CanopyFlight/tabid/123/Default.aspx They had a short article about it in last month's parachutist describing how it was done. He has some other really cool pics on his website http://www.360bilder.de/e_index.html Blue Skies, Jason
  21. They replaced several swithches for me free of charge then the last time that I contacted them about returning some broken swithches they said they couldn't continue to replace them for free. They told me that the switches simply wear out after so many actuations. I even offered to send them my old switches to repair and they said it just wasn't feasable so I ended up buying a new switch. Later I took my switch apart and the switch itself still worked perfectly but one of the tiny soider joints had broken I was able to repair it and now I keep it in my camera bag as a spare. I guess what I am saying is they are great switches (I still have three of them) but don't expect them to last forever and don't count on getting free replacements. Blue Skies, Jason
  22. This really sucks!! I have been totally bummed out about it all day. I really enjoyed getting my mag each month. I had just renewed my membership but never got charged. I didn't get the last issue either. I will contact them tomorrow to see if I can get it, especially since it was the last one. (hopefully only for a short while)
  23. Looks really cool. Any ideas on price range? Blue Skies, Jason
