  1. This: http://abc13.com/news/texas-southern-university-shooting-1-dead-campus-on-lockdown-classes-canceled/1025113/ While we've been fucking around on the internet, here's another US school shooting. ...Tell us again about the greatness. 2. In practical application, the only real requirement, in the US, to owning a gun is having some money to buy one. Same applies 70 years ago or today. And this should not change Your downhill slide; we're just spectating. Britannia used run the world; your turn is coming to an end. 4. We've told him to be safe, but then suggested going to Lodi??? OK, I'll play: - get working on your headdown flying; FS is for pussies - you'll need a GoPro to record all your mad skillz flying - check the shops for small elliptical canopies (don't worry, you'll grow into it) "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  5. OK, we should implement some order to these discussions. Here’s a handy checklist for ongoing shootings: 1 – IS IT TERRORISM? IS IT TERRORISM? (in frantic FoxNews voice) 2 – is he Muslim? (they’re all evil you know) 3 – was this a “gun free zone” (see I told you so, we need more guns) 4 – is he mentally ill (guns are always OK, unless you’re crazy) 5 – proceed with customary/requisite Obama blame and founding fathers bullshit "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  6. Indeed, I don't believe "great societies" need to send school children to classes with Kevlar backpacks and armed guards at the school gates. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  7. ...or just highlight your link and click "url"; it puts the quote markers at beginning and end in one single click. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  8. LMAO.....with comments like this, please don't expect to be taken seriously. Moldova.....lol...yeah that is who you want to be compared to? Yes, no understanding of Western Europe (per the inference to good to good laws) with CEE countries which comprise his examples. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  9. Bzzzt. Incorrect. Definition of THEATER a : an outdoor structure for dramatic performances or spectacles in ancient Greece and Rome b : a building or area for dramatic performances c : a building or area for showing motion pictures http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/theater Queens English please. Remember we are the "Engl" in English. Also, it's spelled Theatre. ...you know I'm just messing with you "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  10. My first boogie was at Empuriabrava, Spain. I had 31 jumps and the ink was still wet on my license. I had done AFF at a single-Cessna dropzone followed by consols at a single-turbine dropzone. I show up to see hundreds of jumpers and four planes running (2 Twin Otters & 2 Pilatus). It was a “big” step up. Know that you are a beginner and be careful to not get caught up in the excitement and exceed your skill level. Often, you will see new jumpers complain that they don’t get invited by others on the good jumps. At a big boogie, (it will be the opposite) you will probably get invited on many jumps that exceed your present level. Thank them and say “I’d love to too, but I only have X number of jumps”. Also there is no amount of tunnel time that prepares you for being under canopy or in the landing area with 40 other people at once. 11. a serious reply... The economic bailout of the 2008 financial crisis was not a bailout of big banks and Wall Street. It was an action to bailout and save the financial system in general. Yes, the remedy included saving many large financial institutions (who may have deserved to feel some pain), but there was no way around that. Saving the system had global implications, not just for the US. Yes, you can be too big to fail. The media have never really addressed and been open with the public as to just how close we came to some really bad outcomes and what those outcomes may have been. This would just be scaremongering of the general public, who don’t really have a grasp of how global financial markets function. The whole debacle was somewhat of a “perfect storm” financially. There were groups explicitly responsible across the board; not just big banks or Mom & Pops lying to get mortgages. Some of the worst offenders were actually in the middle; decision makers and board members of the largest pensions and insurance companies globally. Oddly, biggest fuel to the debacle wasn’t really greed. It was ignorance and laziness. Ignorance in the form of decision makers buying instruments they didn’t understand; Laziness in the form of wholly relying on credit ratings instead of real risk assessment and due diligence. PS: If you think you may not fully understand multi-tranche securitised asset-backed CLOs that include documentation exceeding 500 pages and would take a desk of quant analysts a week to price ... don’t feel bad, this crisis showed that many of the world’s financial professionals didn’t either. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  12. There is no perfect country. The US does not have a monopoly on freedom; the globe has many free nations. "Best" is subjective. Whereas you view the US as the best place to live; it doesn’t even make my top 10. It’s not bad; you can do worse – but best and greatest? "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  13. Or get your elected representatives to change the laws. That is actually how the system works. your precious Constitution has been amended 27 times, so it is far from perfect and there are even changes to it that you would advocate for I bet. Tell you what - if you do not like free speech, and/or elected representative govt for and by the people then YOU move out. At least I earned my citizenship - you took the easy route and were just born here. TK is correct. I'm always amused by the childish reply "If you don't like it then leave". I did just that. I have no interest in ever living in the US again, nor do I wish to visit often. It's not difficult. If you see another country/company/person getting a better result; copy them or try something similar. This "but we're different, we're special" falls on deaf ears for the rest of the industrialised world - you're not special princess. 15. That presents a dilemma for US cinemas, you have to take into account where the mass shooter will be firing from. Do you choose to sit near an exit? but what if the shooter is not seated and enters from that same exit. Hmm; choices? * note: cinemas shows films, theatres have a stage with live actors) "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  16. And is still orders of magnitude higher than other 1st world countries. A bit hyperbolic, as that would mean at least 100x. An order of magnitude would be 10x (this is actually less than the US - Advanced World comparisons). 100x is two orders of magnitude. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  17. We've got these same video games in all European countries. Mass shootings are due to kids playing Grand Theft Auto?? "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  18. ...So a standard issue Rushmc thread. While you're searching statistics, find us some numbers showing you are more likely to be shot/killed by an illegal alien than a US citizen. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  19. Damn. I should have Googled this. I heard it was happening on the 28th, so this morning checked the time when I was at my desk - only to find it was at approx 2:30am UK time. We even had crystal clear skies in London. When did you guys say the next one is happening?
  20. The more you look into this; the worse it is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cases_of_police_brutality_in_the_United_States The US has people serving 30yrs in prison for a bag of weed, yet many cops get a little as 100 hours community service for outright murder. It seems the common theme is "paid administrative leave"; that's a euphemism for "holiday" as most would know it. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  21. I'm suggesting they don't "lose their shit" and go aggressive on the public for the most minor or infractions. Jaywalking? Are you serious? That is the most petty of all laws (sans police showing up to bust 5yr olds running lemonade stands). "Gotta get the perps", like on the cop shows on TV "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"

I Googled "Sweet Baby Rays" and it sounds pretty good from the reviews. I see they are to begin selling it in the UK soon: http://www.sweetbabyrays.co.uk/ My wife is Los Angeles this week and I'm having her being me some back. Any other sauces/marinades that anyone would suggest and can be bought in Los Angeles? (Yes I realise LA is not exactly the home of pit cooked BBQ) "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  23. I agree with everything Boomerdog noted above. I don’t know what is included in police training in the US, but judging from the resultant product, it seems to be quite poor. Yes police enter into tense/volatile situations; why do they always “step it up” and make it worse? If there is a problem on an airline flight, no one wants the captain to come over the PA screeching “OH GOD, WE’RE ALL GONNA, WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE”. Injecting a bunch of gun twitching, screaming thugs in blues with their penchant for delivering “ass whoopins” and you’ve made the situation much worse. Not complying in millisecond timeframes and speaking unpleasantly is no need for the local police department to “dog pile” on an individual. Someone noted above cursing. Who cares about swearing? If the person isn’t polite in mannerism or speech it is not a reason to beat/shoot/tase. As an adult and a professional, it doesn’t always matter what the exact wording of the law or ordinance is; some actions you know are wrong. This stuff is sickening; and it happens all the time in the US: oops wrong guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgV8L7oghK0 3 deputies on a kid with Downs Syndrome and an IQ of 40 sitting in a cinema: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ugW1GD4BZU "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  24. The anti cop crowd here has a very hard time staying factual and on point. You do not know he was hit with a baton for "talking" his way out of a jaywalking ticket, and that is the third time something like that has been said here. That is lazy inciteful debating right out of a troll manual. Noted in the original post and noted again later in the thread; this thread is about US police brutality and poor practices in general - not a forensic discussion of this one event. This event was just the "thug in blue" video of the day. Here's a sampling of more: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2015/07/30/us/police-videos-race.html "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"

Yes, must admit proper charcoal is the best. However, as I live in London, disposing of hot coals is not as easy as out in the countryside, so opt for a large 4-burner Outback gas grill - you can get 90-95% of the same results as charcoal - but yes wood/charcoal does add that little extra.
