  1. Reading the new article on AADs (on this site), it noted that the burble on a flat flyer would add about 260ft to activation. I was wondering about the same and assume they took this into account. That said, seeing a cut-away from the ground makes you think "damn that is low" "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  2. You don't seem to really have a point. Look at the demographics of your state/city (in reference to what you experience) and Google the word extrapolate. Come back with some statements not just based on "I know what I know". "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  3. Here's one of cops shooting into a van with 5 kids. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rqe6Oesvhl0 Yes, the woman was in the wrong. However, randomly shooting into a car filled with 5 kids is not the most professional and well-thought solution. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  4. A quick random glance at 5-6 of those didn't turn up any that were obviously "a problem." I rather think the "take away" from his post it that the list has 1029 entries (just for 2015) "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  5. I thought you lived in Alaska? If so, you have a state population of less than 750,000 and only about 3.5% of the population is black. Hardly a statistically significant sample to extrapolate across the full US. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  6. That's quite a list. If Promise5 is curious how this compares with say the UK. The answer is Two. Yes, we’ve had two police killings in the UK in 2015. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_killings_by_law_enforcement_officers_in_the_United_Kingdom Here’s a comparison story. Yes, when this was printed we only had one killing, but had a second – yes a 100% increase; we’re oppressed like being in a fucking war zone. http://metro.co.uk/2015/09/01/graphic-shows-how-many-people-have-been-killed-by-police-in-usa-compared-to-uk-5371271/ "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  7. Please go ahead and give my your description and views of the Metropolitan Police (I live in London); I'm open to compare. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  8. Yes, I question what is wrong with policing in the US (I also used an acronym for "what the fuck" for style and emphasis purposes). This hasn't always been the case; this developed and increased over the past two decades Reply with some thought if your feel strongly, not just folksy "gosh darnit" style phraseology. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  9. You’re not really coming across with any level of insight or intelligence on this topic. Not one single person on SC has ever said all police are bad/corrupt. However, the US does undoubtedly have a problem with police brutality in comparison to all advanced nations. There is undeniably a problem. Does anyone need to see the precursor to a 230 lb policeman punching a 13yr old girl repeatedly, slamming an elderly man’s face into the ground or kicking a woman in the face when she is seated with her arms restrained behind her back – no its uncalled for (at least by anyone with a modicum of intelligence or empathy). You go ahead and post your rebuttal videos of "lovely" policemen savings kittens from trees; it serves no purpose – we know there are well-meaning police in the US. If you are so agitated, go grab some statistical evidence showing that US police (overall) are less brutal and more professional than those of other advanced nations. Actually any use of math, on your part, would be a good start. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  10. I lived in the US for near 20yrs; I'm guessing that's not much difference from the amount of time you have yourself. I've also lived in Europe and Asia; so I do have some first-hand comparisons of what works and doesn't. Your go... "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  11. They could try hiring more intelligent people, but seems they have a problem with that approach: http://abcnews.go.com/US/court-oks-barring-high-iqs-cops/story?id=95836 "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  12. Reading through some numbers/quotes and one stands out: The US police have killed more people this month (March 2015) than the UK police have, in entirety, since the year 1900. ...damn. Yes, there is a population difference of 320million (US) vs. 65million (UK), but 4 weeks compared to 115 years is substantial by any viewpoint. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  13. It's disgusting really; the US public must be growing tired of this "thuggery". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rao33ZYlrq4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlKBrlSyPag "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  14. The methodology and skill level of American policing is shockingly bad - it's "shit" to state it more succinctly . Again, not all are bad, but there is quite a disproportionate number of "bad apples". "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  15. No one reading this internet post can assess your skill level or financial circumstances. You will always want to have more skill than canopy; not the other way around. I weigh 88kg (194lbs) and bought a Sabre2 190 on my 35th jump. I also started a canopy course on my 40th jump - worked in my circumstances; may not be suitable for all (I took guidance from my instructors on this). Years later, I still have the same canopy. A 190/170 canopy is the most easily sellable canopy size; people are always waiting for them to come to market 2nd hand. Get what you need to fly safely now; not the cross-braced handkerchief that your future mad-skillz self will need. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  16. I've never understood this fixation with tunnel flying replacing skydiving (it should be a learning tool). Your getting ready to drop another £600 on the tunnel and on here asking what it's like to sit fly in the sky?? Go find out. Use the money for a getaway to Spain or Florida for some "real skydiving". I'm also a private pilot and have never heard any other pilots discussing their "simulator" time; why do we drone on about tunnel (DZ.com even added it as a profile entry, which I think is silly) "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  17. Seems a timing issue on your part; you started typing before you formulated a coherent thought. What are you talking about? "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  18. Some murder charges instead of the usual result of just "paid administrative leave" more great police work: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/07/us/2-louisiana-officers-charged-with-murder-in-death-of-6-year-old.html?_r=0 This is real life not an action movie or video game; police should treat it as such. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  19. Why is "Club Jesus" so caught up with end-of-the-world-stories? Every year some crackpot prophecy, nothing happens - so a successive date is chosen. I remember as child, in the US watching television on the first Sunday of 1977 (just ABC, NBC & CBS then and Sunday mornings meant a choice of preaching, preaching or preaching); the half-witted evangelists with their "There's gonna be a message from heaven in '77". It's 2015, they're still at this shit. What happened with your big events for September? Nothing. No magical being is coming back; give it up. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"

    Facebook

I've always thought Facebook was shit; however to have access/news to a few groups/events it was my only option to join. However, I have a fake Facebook name backed by fake email/address/phone number. People that know me; understand the fake name is me. I think it would be foolish to make Facebook integral to your life/business; you have no control. Treat it like it could disappear tomorrow and don't keep anything there you wouldn't want to lose. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  21. That's what liberal "banners" would want. You can't ban owning tanks. Second Amemdment / founding fathers / well armed militia; shall we go on? Liberals are just scared of tanks. Their laws say you can have Sherman tank, but not a M1 Abrams tank. Well they just don't understand tanks. Someone here was in a tank safety course and they dropped/hit several tanks and none of them actually discharged. It's just that Obama wants to take our battle tanks. Then only the criminals will have tanks. Why? when cars and swimming pools kill more people than tanks. We've always owned armoured tanks and have never had any problems. 22. (in Joe Pesci voice) ... Rush, you're funny; you entertain me ...like a clown. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  23. Beating children is a criminal offense here in my country. Thx God for that. If parents need to beat their kids, somethings's wrong in the family. My parents never needed it (we were a bunch of wild kids), I never needed to do (mine are wild, too). You noticed all the supposed parents in this thread willing to brutilize their own children too I see. And then they wonder WHY this country has such issues with violence... it is LEARNED BEHAVIOR. Yes, teaching internal control takes some intelligence & self control. External control is the resource of the stupid/lazy. Teaching a child they should act in a certain manner because of who they are is a little more work. Telling the same child they will get a beating if they don't act in an appropriate manner - seems an odd method; but the preferred means among the less intelligent. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  24. Zer0 to BH....in a flash again..... From legit post title to troll just like that. How can we take you seriously with these kinds of posts? Her post was purposefully meant to be entertaining. Whereas your post are intended by you to be serious - they likewise come across as entertaining. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  25. more professionalism from the men in blue: http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/562e9e71e4b06317990f1927 Yes, yes we "don't know the whole story" bullshit. Regardless of what the young student said/did, this is not how it should be addressed. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
