  1. PM me I've got the first three Dolby albums and Eden Ally and Big shot in the dark by T3 can't remember if either of those is the second album. No Beat Farmers though. I don't leave Morpheus up but if you let me know when your on I'll leave it up. I like your taste in music now tell me you've read Neuromancer and I'll have to consider moving to CA :-P JG
  2. Sky Dive San Marcos is right up I-35....come on up the purple tailed otter is always screaming and if you guys wanna sample some Austin night life my house is open(I have a couple of extra rooms) JG
  3. I wish it was vertical....we do 180's the key is eye contact dont't look to the leg for the grip look back the leg should be right there in your peripharel vision fly for a sec then take the grips. The reason why I like this drill is it stresses eye contact and flying your slot(both of which I have a hard time with at this point) I've seen some of the good jumpers do this and then they switch whose head is going over top because they fly their slots so well and are so close. Eye contact is half the battle to beggining jumpers your taught to look where you wanna turn because you tend to go where your looking. In RW you have to keep your eye on the "target" no matter which way your turning.....ie head switching on turns more then 180 of course I can barely turn a point so take everything I say with a grain of salt JG
  4. I've just started doing compressed accordions rt then lft making sure to maintain eye contact especially during the turns and then flying the slot for a second before taking grips. sounds easy but it's not at least for me it's not JG
  5. I've flown twice with mine. I got hasseled once in LA but they let me carry it on. The security guy asked why I didn't check it I looked at him and said "my life depends on this do you think I'm gonna trust it to an underpaid baggage handeler?" with that being said he let me through. On a side note at 3 out of the 4 trips to the airport the national gaurd guys knew what it was and started asking questions while they were looking at my stuff. JG
  6. Merry X-Mas. Just missed ya last Saturday :-(. http://www.enclave.com/ everything else is probably 2-8 clicks away. I found it to be most useful when I first started. http://www.headdown.net lots of cool vids JG
  7. ok I'm home I can't go see the family for X-mas and it was to windy to jump (my desiscion) so I feel like bitching. I2 or 3 months ago a friend of mine says his buddy who runs a storage facility found a rig and will sell it cheap so I go check it out and it's a Jav J-4 with a sabre main. I think cool but whoever had it jacked with it cause the reserve risers are out. I tell the guy I'll take it to a rigger to get it checked out and I'll check if it's hot. I check the parachutist and sure as shit it's hot. I call the first number and it's a disconnected PCS number I call the second number and get voicemail but not O's (the guy who reported to Parachutist) voice mail. I leave a message and call the USPA and leave a message with the person in charge of that dept. @ days later this Otis guy calls me and leaves a message I return his call (mind you I've been making these calls on my dime) I explain that his rig is with my rigger and give him my riggers number and the DZ number. After some confusing phone calls he comes down for his rig. He bothers everyone asking them when my rigger is gonna show. I meet him briefly then don't see him again. So you might ask whay is this tale so pathetic. WELL!!!!!!! he didn't even offer to buy me a beer at the very least (he barely said thank you). Said jumper then prceededs to go out with the DZO and his wife and make an ass of himself and go back home the next day. now I may be crazy but if someone found my stolen rig I would buy them at least a case of beer and a jump ticket, hey a beer or two to make up for my time and phone bill would have been fine. Well thats my sad story I truly wouldn't want to be around this person when the karma slap comes. All names have been edited to protect the innocent JG
  8. I've almost been jumping for a year and have missed 3 water training courses. Our S&TA kicks ass we've had 2 BIC courses also. I plan on getting my water training ASAP (besides the fact that it could save your life I wanna jump by a beach). JG
  9. How to start? My Dad died a couple of weeks ago and as I was packing to fly out to his house I saw my rig and without thought brought it with me I didn't realize I had a plan till I was on the plane. Then it came to me or it was there all the time. I would scatter my dads ashes on a jump. This seemed very fitting to me since my father loved almost anything that flew (he flew RC gliders and took a couple of glider flights in the Perris area). I discussed it with my family and they agreed that it was the right thing to do so I called Perris and talked to Jack the DZM and he said he would arrange it and he certainly did Craig O'Brien did the photography and a bunch of Swiss jumpers did the jump with me. the jump went well and my fathers ashes left a mark in the sky that pales in comparison to the mark he made in my life. So I would like to take this time to thank everyone at Perris especially Jack, Craig, Nicholas, Gills and all the other Swiss jumpers. You people made a time of grief a little easier to deal with PS I posted a couple of the pics in the special jumps JG
  10. If you have the $$$$ and the time go to Deland. I would have loved to had stable in muscle memory for my first jump, cause like the man said you get sensory overload the first few jumps (first 6 for me) JG
  11. A few comments on this (I can't help it) I realize people need to make a living but when it comes down to restricting the passing of vital information to new skydivers so they can make said living well that is just pathetic (if they are truly worth the money they wouldn't care). Does the DZO approve of this behavior? If so I would jump some place else. Capotilisim (spelling) is great but it can be taken to far and this is a classic example. Whats next? "You must come to the DZ and tithe 10 percent before you can read a paragraph from the Holy SIM" well SSM is awesome. I've paid for some Skydive U jumps 35 plus slot (I thought they were worth it), but for the most part when I jump RW it's usually with at least one person that has 700+ jumps and it's almost the same as a coach jump and money is never discussed (I didn't get my SCR and Eagle on #22 cause I'm a skygod and it didn't cost me $144....lol). They do it because they love the sport and want to see it keep growing and improving. As far as Freefly coaching a bunch of FF'ers went to nationals and came back fired up (I think they wanna see FF'ers take over the DZ) theres a lot of "coaching" going on here right now free and for a slot, but you get video with the slot. Plus if you walk up to a "coach" and ask them a question they'll awnser for free. I myself feel that when I am a good enough skydiver I will be more then happy to jump with lowtimers to help (I almost feel it's my duty) I'm sorry to hear thats what goes on at your DZ. Have you brought it up to one of said coaches in a non confrontational manner? PS you might wanna post this in Safety and Training too JG
  12. I wouldn't buy a rig unless it was inspected by my rigger. I'm quirky too JG
  13. ahhhhit's it's 14 dollar jumps till the end of the year and the Bonus is Robert and Brian are giving free freefly lessons this weekend JG
  14. I will be there. 14 dollar jumps you can't beat it Jess Hope to cya too JG
  15. Like he said ....but you can also think of doing it in little spurts stop coast start during the coast you can judge your foreward/and or downward movement and adjust accordingly. Always remember one of the cardinal rules of RW is slow is fast (if it takes you longer to get there it's still better then crashing the formation) Just this low jumpers .01 (I'm cheap) Peace, Love, And Blue Ones in your soul forever JG
  16. I'm still planning on making the trip down Saturday. Is there a meeting place and time? JG
  17. mmmmm. I need to get down there and now that I have a rig and an excuse I might just have to show up and funnel exits go low and biff landings. Holy Shit did I just post in Talkback Post details as they come in Peace, Love, and Blue Ones JG JG
  18. That sounds good the only thing that worries me is the cypress. Some over zealous person might mistake it for a bomb and then the fun will begin JG
  19. I will be having to travel next week and am looking for help getting my gear to it's destination I really don't want to check it as I don't trust the the handelers. I guess that I can pack it in a box with lots of buble wrap. The lady from the airlines didn't sound too confident about me being able to carry it on and asked what if I opened the door at altitude(whuffos you gotta love em). I replied that I'd most likely die just like someone with no parachute. She then suggested UPS. I really don't care for that option either. Can anyone offer some better suggestions Blue Ones JG PS I don't have a gearbag for my rig yet and would be nervous checking that in too. I really don't trust those baggage handelers too much JG
  20. I believe that Icarus suggest psycho packing for their canopys. You might wanna check their website JG
  21. You might wanna try a Wings before you make that decision. JG
  22. ***I have been sitting here reading and watching you post obvious misinformation regarding Icarus and its products. Your statement regarding the development and marketing of the EXTreme FX is absolutely incorrect (to put it politely) and by making such erroneous statements to the public is a disservice to everybody.[\quote] I think if your gonna call Dan a liar (not so polite) you should back it up with facts. Your reply sounds like it came from a politician lots of talk no substance. I'm not on any side but my own I want information not name calling. I'm not trying to start a flame war but I would like to hear the Icarus side with details not simply "thats not the truth" JG
  23. no incident......I read someones post about a jump and they ended the jump by tracking towards the DZ and I noticed no one said anything about that so I felt I must try to inform him. JG
  24. When you jump alone you should not track towards the DZ especailly if you were the last one out. The reason being that your tracking back towards jumpers. I maybe stating the obvious but thought it needed to be said. Peace, Love And......Blue Ones!!! PS Don't track on the windline the obvious exception being on big ways. JG
