I had ignored it personally, due largely to overconsumption of such information, but decided to watch it when I read this thread. It would be a good overview for most folks (especially those who are not interested in seeing graphic images or being attacked politically), and I even learned something new. Thank you for the boost to watch it. I would also recommend it.

Very cool! Have a wonderful time!

Do you have healthcare currently? What is your view on the bill?
PLFXpert replied to bluesilver30's topic in Speakers Corner
100% of my tuition was paid through Florida Bright Futures--didn't cover anything else like living expenses. In a college town, there was not much to do to make any sort of money to pay for living expense, much less, anything else. Long story short, I ended up with a small student loan (paid off), but a privately funded one which I understand this bill will do away with. Stupid. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -
So, I watched Twilight previously and thought it was OK. I had never heard of the book--or movie--until I saw a young girl in a restaurant we patroned completely engrossed in this big, fat book. Bill was facing toward her and I begged him to get a glimpse of what she was reading. It was Breaking Dawn. Curious what was so intriguing, I spent a couple hours of my life watching Twilight after its DVD release. Then, I made the mistake of watching New Moon this past rainy weekend. It made me so sad to watch and know how popular this series is with young women. Bella was a complete damsel in distress, literally throwing herself into dangerous situations in an attempt to guilt her man back from having left her. So pathetic and totally disappointing. In related news: I think I might go to the theater for the first time in years to see The Runaways. I love Dakota Fanning. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I would love that mods, if one of you would please do so. It was nothing new/original, but the "actual footage" made it feel real and thus pretty scary. I actually gave it 4/5 stars--again, though, I am not sure if I would have rated it so well if I had known before watching it the footage was not real. Too late now, but I would recommend to those who have not seen it not to do any research or review-reading beforehand. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Shotgun: Yes, your experience similiar to what the movie is about. I hope it does not ruin the film for others, but a big part of why I enjoyed the movie was because I did not know/had never heard of what it was about and thus--for the duration of the movie--accepted it as real footage and real events. That made it pretty scary. Like you, however, it did not take too much digging afterward to learn otherwise. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Has anyone seen it? I like they used actual footage from the 2000 sessions with Dr. Tyler, but did not quite like how they fused it. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I am in. Hoping it will show up in my local grocery store soon. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Her rep made the comparison. I admit I saw the commercial once (did not think it was funny despite LOVING the rendition of "Take these broken wings" in the previous one) and definitely did_not_think of Lindsay Lohan. Having said that, if someone mentioned a celebrity named Lindsay--is there any other in this day? Once I read about her claim, it_did_make sense. The "milkoholic" reference, especially. $100M? Ridiculous. And the case will close (not in favor of Lindsay) anyway on the grounds of the allowances made to make fun of a celebrity which is exactly what the commercial_was_doing, imo--hindsight being 20/20. Did you read the excerpt linked taken from the book Eating Animals? It is about_not_eating them. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

"Few people sufficiently appreciate the colossal task of feeding a world of billions of omnivores who demand meat with their potatoes. The inefficient use of dogs—conveniently already in areas of high human population (take note, local-food advocates)—should make any good ecologist blush. One could argue that various "humane" groups are the worst hypocrites, spending enormous amounts of money and energy in a futile attempt to reduce the number of unwanted dogs while at the very same time propagating the irresponsible no-dog-for-dinner taboo. If we let dogs be dogs, and breed without interference, we would create a sustainable, local meat supply with low energy inputs that would put even the most efficient grass-based farming to shame. For the ecologically-minded it's time to admit that dog is realistic food for realistic environmentalists." Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Wanting to sell my gear, but terrified of getting scammed
PLFXpert replied to birdshit's topic in The Bonfire
Agree. I successfully sold both my main and reserve (and originally purchased my main) on DZ.com classifieds. Both people fortunately were willing to pay via PayPal first and I shipped within one day of confirmed payment. I sell a LOT of stuff on Craigslist (I LOVE Craigslist) and sometimes Ebay. "Cash only" is my philosophy unless it is a smaller-enough amount of money or not-so-important to me to loose. Generally speaking however, if one has the money to buy, one should be able to get, wire or transfer the cash to purchase. I recently went to a grocery store on a Sunday to have them mark $5k worth of bills from a buyer/with the buyer for me. Rarely is "cash" not good, but if you are local, might as well go somewhere together and confirm it. When it comes to money, I don't play. Luckily, I am an honest person (can't sleep if I feel even remotely questionable ) so most people trust me way more than I would ever trust them--or pretty much anyone else, for that matter. Bottomline is: If you do not_need_to sell your gear, then you have the power to make the arrangements you are most comfortable with. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -
I grew up near Orlando and Sea World was not far away. I have not been since I was in the single-digits, but even then I told my father I thought the tanks were too small. "if there IS a God", He is why I am so compassionate toward animals. I have always cared. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I agree completely with the sentiment all whales, dolphin, sea lions, etc. should be left in the wild where they belong. I am not sure I am convinced_all_of those already in captivity should be released back into the wild. I would like to hope most--if not all--could be, though. And in the interest of full disclosure, I did the Immersion at Marineland a couple years ago. I had an amazing time, however, I had a different impression of what their interactive programs were about before going in than I did coming out, unfortunately. I felt the same way... We did the Netflix/bought HBO to watch Season Four On Demand all in a row so we watched from beginning to recent within four weeks. I LOVED the first season, liked the second and third...fourth was a bit better. I am expecting/hoping for big things from Season Five. Edit: I think we would all like to see the original Dexter get back to plotting & killing a "bad guy" each episode. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Help Choosing Gifts for a Couple of Not-So-Fun Occasions?
PLFXpert replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
For the hairdresser (given your relationship/history): Book your next appointment (write it in permanent marker on your forehead ) bring a small token (wine?) and apologize again when you get there (explain whatever it was you had going on to cause you to forget). Then, tip her 125%--the cost of a full missed appointment plus tip. Money talks. Sorry--three times???--walks. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -

I have no recommendations, except to say check Amazon for your favorite author, genre, etc. I LOVE audio books for road trips. Time FLIES. More importantly, it is so relaxing and calming being read to.
