  7. Belgium - 150. I never even received the ticket. I got a notice that I was late paying it. No idea where it was or what the offence was. I just paid it. I presume I was trying to get away from a crazy Belgian driver and exceded the limit at the wrong time/place. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I guess I'll jump back in here... Why DO people put all that gangly equipment on their helmets? I have a nice little video camera I mount on my motorcycle that is pretty aerodynamic. It seems easy enough to me for someone to have a bullet type camera and build a little nest for it on the helmet with fiberglass or other composite so it is smooth and snag free. Maybe the resolution of my camera isn't great. I really don't know. The video of my rides is too good for people to watch without getting motion sick. Surely there's something more sleek than the gopro? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 10. Thanks for the good read. Wiki says there is one left. There's a picture of it in the museum. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtiss_F9C_Sparrowhawk The 'x' indicates it was experimental. According to the wiki article, the -2 means it was the second prototype. So you are right that all production models were lost with their mother ships. Apparently three on Akron and four on Macon. 13. Nat is dating a scooter guy??? An appropriate & practical one no less... I think appropriate and practical is sexy and wonderful traits to have in a boyfriend. Appropriate and practical are fine traits in a man. But if your boyfriend rides a scooter, you have a girlfriend. Someone had to say it. All the guys were thinking it. Not that any of us mind that image, of course. By that, you meant you want pictures, right? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 18. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. Please contact Joe and let him help. At the very least, let everyone know it was not his DZ or people. Just read the incident report with the 32yo female. Very different situation. One thought in my head is the down-sizing issue. If I change something (canopy size, design, etc.) I don't fiddle with other things on that jump. I make a simple jump for the purpose of gaining familiarity with that canopy, or the suit, or whatever. I once had an opportunity to launch from a new site with my new hang glider. I passed. It was two new things at once. I only do one if I can help it. Same thing with skydiving. New helmet? That's the new thing. New altimeter? There it is. Different canopy? Solo belly flight with a nice, high opening to play with it. I know I'm on the conservative side. But I insist this is not a high-risk sport. It is just terribly intolerant of people who do not respect it. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 21. Ah hell...I'll try one. Where do I sign up? Can I get a prescription for viagra and a pile of blow the size of a toaster as well? This is going to be one really wild weekend. 22. I have no idea how nations native to North America view it. I know there is a vocal group that has an issue with such names. I would not be surprised to find they really just want money out of it, but I have no idea. I just find money is often at the root of these kinds of things. Personally, I always viewed the names of the Atlanta Braves, Washington Redskins, etc. a reference to the fierce warrior spirit and honorable traditions of native nations. I never saw it as a slur. How could it be? Would you name your team "drunk-ass has-beens" to inspire them? If I owned the team, I would probably really piss the vocal group off with an official statement. I would explain how the name and associated references were meant to inspire the team. How it was meant to remind them of the fighting spirit, nobility, and proud warrior culture that characterized the native nations. I would then regretfully announce that the team name was changing because those once proud people were now ashamed to acknowledge that heritage and send forth their most fierce warrior, Nancy Pelosi, to represent them. If the nations don't care to be remembered as inspirational, then let them have their wish. Keep in mind, that would only be if the nations truly stand behind those who view things like Pelosi. I'm not at all convinced they do. I have no data. My .02 ETA: Googled a question as to whether Native Americans consider Redskins a slur. This is what came up first. It cites a survey that showed 90% do not. Not definitive, but I find it is generally hard to get 90% of any group to agree the sky is blue. Pretty persuasive. http://washington.cbslocal.com/2013/10/08/how-many-native-americans-think-redskins-is-a-slur/ I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Went back the article. 72yo jumper. Cut away under 1,000. Likely never pulled the reserve. No RSL installed. So, I'm going with disdain for the RSL as the preventable contributory cause. I always use an RSL. I understand the argument for disconnecting when doing CRW. I didn't think about having a good canopy and screwing it up. Makes sense. Still confused about the stowing of the slider. Why would you stow it before getting control of the brakes / testing the canopy? It makes noise and flaps. Otherwise, it seems to me that it can wait. In the case of this video, it seems worrying about the slider first caused a problem. What are the potential problems if you worry about a good canopy before worrying about the slider? I think it said it was disconnected. That's the only reason I brought it up. It was the February issue. I'll double check.
