Interesting. As Chief Executive, he is in charge of the quality of the system that convicts the prisoners. He can unilaterally choose to review cases and pardon or parole the convicts ( I presume. Governors usually can). The most common complaint I hear about the death penalty is that the system is not good enough. We can never be sure. I understand he might not be able to completely fix that. He can't change all the history of American Jurisprudence and legislation. But he also has the ability to review death row cases and make a call. He has chosen to make a universal call. Does he not have time? Would his decisions bring too much political fallout? I'm sorry. I understand the concerns. But there are people in this world who are clearly guilty of heinous crimes and we would all be better off if they were not in the world. Just a personal observation...I don't miss the gravy, sauces, breads, etc. It takes a bit to get used to a healthier diet. Once you do, you realize that all those foods you were smothering in dressing, butter, and the like really have their own flavor. So, you don't really give up anything. I've been pretty much ignoring this topic as I think people are fighting over something nobody should be fighting over. So, I hate to speak for Jerry (Lawrocket), but I find him to be ordinarily quite reasonable and agreeable. I think his issue is the 'chicken little' effect and the money/politics that is connected to it. I suspect (again...I don't presume to speak for Jerry) that an argument along the lines of "We could all do better...here's an issue to kick us in the butt" would be more palatable to Jerry and many others. I believe in climate change. I believe it is one of many normal cycles for the planet. I belive humans are having some kind of influence on that cycle. Like most things influenced by humans, it is probably not a good thing. I have no idea how much of what we are seeing is the normal cycle. I have no idea how much humans influence it. I like it! No legislative branch. No judicial branch. No objective checks and balances. Just one man making the decision to kill a US Citizen because he is suspected of being involved.
