  1. I find it interesting that politicians focus on the appearance of a weapon rather than the function. We went through this with the Clinton Gun Ban. Ten years later, it was clear that it had no effect. Somehow, the lack of drive-by bayoneting before the ban did not change after the ban eliminated bayonet lugs. Guns don't kill people. Bayonet lugs and collapsible stocks kill people. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  2. Exactly. That's part of why I'm surprised there aren't more Libertarians around here. Once you start regulating what your neighbor can do, you can expect reciprocity. That's why I prefer an attitude of, "I'll stay out of your shit. You stay out of mine." as much as practicable. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  3. Are the pistol and suppressor counted as one thing? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  4. There was a time in sales when it was normal to light up or drink up during a sales call. It changed over time. Today, you would never do either for fear of losing the sale to someone who disapproved. Likewise, corporate sales executives are highly unlikely to present tats, piercings, unusual hair styles, etc. You can claim all kinds of rights, but if they don't want to buy from you, you will not be a sales executive long. You can complain all you want, but it's a normal human reaction. People who have lots of tats, piercings, wild hair, etc. are likely to hang out with similar minded people and villify people without those features. I would expect the advertiser is seeking someone with a couple of tats, or racing stripes in the eyebrow, or interesting hair, or some kind of mark that would gain access into a subculture; but not someone who is clearly consumed by the subculture. Someone who can still put on a suit and look natural in it. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  5. Most everyone from the US that is stationed in Europe uses one. You can't watch netflix and other video from home unless you have one. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  6. I thought Clinton was a horrible choice of candidate. In large part due to Ross Perot's efforts, he was elected twice without the popular vote. I thought Obama was a poor choice. I underestimated the power of the race card (IMO he didn't have the credentials by a long shot). I would think Rodham-Clinton has had her shot and been found wanting. But I clearly don't have a good track record. Part of the issue is that the Republicans haven't played the game worth a hoot. I think Romney was a good choice, but poor candidate. No game. McCain was a good candidate, but poor choice. TOO MUCH experience. Just my .02. I'm not going to argue much of anything on this. So much depends on the mood of the electorate and how it is manipulated between here and there. Facts seem woefully unrelated to the results. 7. Why, have you heard back from those that have done it right? I think I'll be ok with it. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  8. I can't say things like that. I have a German and a Pol working for me. I know they have thin mints, tagalongs, and samoas this year. I love all three. I think they have a couple others, but didn't pay attention. I only buy enough for right now. Spreading them throughout the year would be like spreading Christmas out. 9. I wasn't bothered that Jerry didn't know my name is David. I find it lightly amusing that people have never caught on to it. Looking for benefits in alcoholic beverages and sodas is like looking for virtue among whores. Any benefits you find in these things are not due to the alcohol content and easily found in healthier drinks. And sodas hydrate? Well, yes...but water really does it better, don't you think? I'm not trying to vilify these drinks. I just don't understand attacking tobacco and ignoring other unhealthy products. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 10. Do you think that you are currently paying for the consequences or not? I think we all do. JerryBaumchen Why doesn't anyone get that my name is David Johnson and just call me David or Dave? Ah well... Yes. I agree. We are clearly now at a point where I (we) pay for the mistakes of others. The problem is that we should put restraints on other things as well, but don't. Alcohol has no utilitarian purpose and enormous downside. If I didn't have to pay for your health insurance, I'd tell you to drink up / smoke up / etc. and endorse personal responsibility. We've given up personal responsibility at this point. Personal choice must follow. That's my point. We want to be free to drink, smoke dope, etc. but still villify people who want to smoke tobacco? A bit loopy to me. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  11. I used to read Dean Koontz regularly. I noticed all of his novels follow a pattern. Good foundation, methodical character development, build up of suspense, interesting story line... Then, I think his editor calls and complains he's taking too long. Last chapter: aliens drop out of the sky, or hyper advanced science devices appear, or someone develops a super-power...everything is resolved. The end. Can you get whiplash from reading a book? 12. Oh, my! When I was a kid, I used to do the same with a pack of Whoppers. I would look for the ones that "melted" inside. It was like they were malty caramel. Their QC is too good, now. Those were my favorites. When I go to the theater now, I get milk duds. Pretty much the same thing. They were supposed to be malted milk balls, but they were duds. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  13. Roller coaster at fair: maintained by people I have never met. Taken apart and assembled routinely with most of the pieces still present, some replaced by stuff from Ace hardware when necessary, inspected by nobody. Front man running it is covered in tats and piercings, looks rather worn and gaunt like he is no stranger to recreational pharamaceuticals, speaks English like a third language, looks bored and un-caring, smells like he's been drinking, has been running this thing for hours... Roller coaster at Six Flags: maintained by people I have never met. Run by a pimply faced teen working for minimum wage. No understanding of the mechanics of the device. More concerned about the large breasted woman he needs to help with her restraints and talking to his friends at his next break. Can't spell centrifugal if you hold a gun to his head. Yeah...those things are scary as hell. I love 'em. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  14. Now, I'm wondering how many Americans have retirement accounts and how much is held in them. At some point, this becomes an easy sell to those who did not save. If they are in the large majority, it's easy to see people with retirement accounts cast in the same light as the 'rich' are now. Food for thought. I can see the mailed notice now... There is a projected shortfall of 23% of the scheduled social security payments. In order to cover this shortfall and ensure you are able to receive all the benefits you are owed, 401(k) balances are being automatically rolled over into the Social Security system. Don't worry, no action is necessary on your part. Some people were hoarding their extra large portion of the pie...that's not fair! I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  15. You're saying: If no police work can be done. Do pointless busy work wasting resources. You say I'm saying: If no police work. Give up. What I'm actually saying: If no police work, do your fucking job and try harder to get meaningful leads. I'm not trying to be flippant. I consider the physical description of the suspect about as good as leads get unless you have the actual identity. If you have a picture and a means to advertise that, all the better. Advertising the description and seeking public assistance is part of good police work. How else would police proceed? Post a picture of a fingerprint and ask if anyone recognizes it? Describe the perpetrator without mentioning race and gender? If you hear a radio announcement that a killer is on the loose; 5ft 5in, dark hair, medium build, wearing jeans and a blue pullover shirt...wouldn't you wonder what idiot decided to report that information, but left out race and gender? Anchor: "In the news today; police are seeking information from the public on the whereabouts of an arsonist who has perpetrated a dozen arsons in the city. Police know what he/she looks like, but not her/his name. His/her description is being withheld to keep from offending anyone. If you think have any information, please bombard the hotline with useless calls about people police are not looking for, but you couldn't possibly know that because police aren't giving you the description of who they are looking for." OK. Sorry. I actually did get flippant as I kept typing. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  16. So I can copy all your terrible, heart breaking, insubordinate "Turtle" comments? Insubordinate? I am rarely insubordinate. I am never intentionally insulting. Insolent...maybe. But feel free to quote my anti-amphibian commentary to whatever government agency handles such whining. I'm sure there is one. You shouldn't wear your heart on your shell like that. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  17. That sign leaves open the possibility of open carry... It gets so confusing when you throw out common sense and try to make rules at the same time. Stuck at LAX

Oh...you mean you ARE stuck, not that you GOT stuck by TSA. See where thread titles in BF send my mind? You can always rent a rig. 20. Since she's a legal adult, free to live her life her own way, what would you do to her to make her quit acting that way? Even Miley thinks Bieber is over the top: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q74lflrFLWw But I notice they share the same hairdo. I saw a warning on facebook: If you receive a link that says it is to download the latest Bieber single, DON'T CLICK ON IT! It is a link to the latest Bieber single. 21. Yup. I've heard that claim. That's why I've heard the testimony on how things really work. By the time you pop hot, you were WAY hot. In college, I had a professor who ran the state crime lab. He was analyzing hair samples long before anyone else heard about it. We tested the whole poppy seed theory. At poppy seed cakes until we were sick. Still couldn't get it to register in the urinalysis. Wrong metabolytes. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 22. I applaud the efforts of the pilots to avoid problems. At least in the military, you will not 'pop hot' for second hand smoke. I've sat on boards. Expert testimony is: If you sit in a closet full of dope smoke for hours, it is detectable in your urine. It takes more than just 'detectable' to be reported as a positive test. You can't get to a positive reading by second hand smokel. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 23. Mixed emotions. I applaud them for doing what they think is right for their business. I don't have a problem with people smoking so long as I don't have to pay for the consequences. Not sure how this meshes with the legalization of marijuana. Which way are we going to go with this? Does CVS still sell alcohol? Seems a little bi-polar to me. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  24. But those lines shift depending on age, development of judgment, experience, maturity. Here - hold my beer and watch This. There are lines I hope to never cross. I have crossed too many lines in the past to say definitively that I am strong enough to not cross others. These things are easy to say when you have not tested your limits...or had them tested for you. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  25. Anything I post in public is fair game. Thanks for asking, though. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
