were these test drops done with spinning canopy or a bad student that put you on your back after chop ?

no safety gear is completely safe. alot of the gear you use today has been made safer because of problems caused by the gear or mixing of the gear. you need to way the risks of what you do in this sport to what safety gear you need to use. I personally did not get an AAD until 98 because previously they had caused deaths and problems and were unreliable. RSL'S also had some issues that is why the skyhook was invented. The main thing i was taught as a student was I was going to save my life and it was up to me to do it ! also never put yourself in a position to have to rely on a safety device. the devices today are much better and usually pretty reliable but still they have risks. the questions you need to ask are not why so and so doesn,t have this or that the question should be why was this person in a position that needed that piece of equipment and how can I avoid that situation. question everything, find solutions to not be in bad spots and have fun

it was fine for a standard reserve deployment. what i would be worried about is if i was spinning, falling on my back, or something else that would cause a reserve problem. i always make sure my desicions are made high enough to give me time to straighten out a problem. it would suck to have a reserve malfunction when just a couple seconds more before reserve deployment could have given me a good reserve.

There is a solution to this problem that doesn't involve banning anything. Moving swoopers to a different landing area ----------------------------------------------------------- i know this and you know this but why are we still seeing collisions and death ? why are the hp canopy pilots still saying they have the right? why don't we have seperate landing ares?

who wont listen to good advice at 1000 jumps just like they didnt want to listen to it at 50. In fact with more jumps they are even less likely to listen. The attitude is the problem here, not the activity ------------------------------------------------------------ i gues swoopers don't listen either. we've been telling swoopers for about 8 years that they are running people over and killing them but they won't listen!

why do alot of people consider spiraling under canopy fucking around and going big to get a great swoop no fucking around? both situations are fucking around and if done in the pattern they are both wrong. if swoopers are allowed to fuck around in the patern then so are the big guys. either way i don't want either of you in my pattern.

did you know that when a swooper hangs in brakes waiting he is compressing the pattern also? what gives a swooper the right to compress the pattern and not the guy spiraling ? neither have the right to compress the pattern from either end

yes people have died because of rsl's. a broken riser puts you in a bad situation. also on a spinning mal can cause line twists on the reserve. i have had 1 tandem chop on a strong rig with a rsl and didn't like how the reserve came out before i was ready. thankfully i had a good student. the reserve was out before i was belly to earth(still upright a little). because of problems with rsl's stong made it optional to have connected.

from what i can gather from the 2 articles is that alot of them did it for better self esteem and the initial results are great. better self esteem caused by a more perfect body. but on the long term benifits the implants only covered up the real issues and after a while the poor self esteem came back that is why the higher suicide rate after 10 years. i guess what matters to them isn't about how good of a person they are but how their body's apear to others. i personally would not date any girl that needed implants to improve their self esteem. i know quite a few with implants and a large percentage are stuct on themselves.

i have seen or heard someplace that girls with boob jobs have a higher suicide rate. probably because they have self esteem issues that new boobs can't fix but they thought the new boobs would. the problem is not with the size of the boobs it's with the lack of attention that they want to have.

getting caught up in the DZ politics and getting pressured by the DZO to jump whenever he needs you to make money for him is what causes the change. as long as you can keep out of these issues you will do fine. good luck not many instructers can avoid these issues. seeing a students eyes light up after a jump and hearing them talk the rest of the day about what you just did for them is priceless.

how about if the lawyer files the suite and looses he gets nothing. how many of us had to pay a lawyer and lost the case. if he wasn't sure he could win he wouldn't take the case. this would cut down on lawyers taking soso cases or ones that are deffinately no good to start with.

how many DZ'S has the uspa cast out of the GM program? whatever the DZO wants to do he does. uspa has shown they have no enforcement ability. they are nothing but a big dog with no bite. they brake when things get tough then they slap the hands of the board members when they speak up for what is right. any dz can let anyone jump that they want. the only thing that stops some DZO's is the threat of a lawsuite.

what i would like to know is if you are an employee are you still likely to get sued? i know if you incorperate and become a company they can sue you. there are some dz's that have you incorperate, does this ad a layer of protection to the dzo ?

if the work was done properly that would leave a clogged radiator or bad head gasket or cooling fan not working. just because there is no smoke doesn't mean the head gasket is ok, white smoke is only one sympton and is the last one to show. the radiator since it was used is probably what i would look at first.

i'm sorry but this doesn't excuse anything - The TI used poor judgement and broke the rules, the vidiot was in a bad and dangerous place, and you with 30 jumps had no experience i don't care if you had hours of tunnel time. at 30 jumps you are still learning to save your life. This video shows how stupid people can be and how lucky you are. your reply only shows how ignorrant you were at the time. with students falling out of harnesses, TI's low turning into the ground, and all the other shit that has happened with tandems the last few years i wouldn't be surprised if the FAA doesn't step in and start regulating tandems again. lets wake up out there ! time to start using tandems for what they were designed for , safely introducing new people to our sport and training. if you want a carnival ride go to 6 flags.

back when i started jumping another student in my class wanted to buy gear. but since he only had 8 jumps and you needed at least an A license to jump your own gear and my dz wouldn't sell him any until he got closer. this guy went to another dz and bought used gear. he bought a rig with a 150 sq ft canopy and a throw-out pilot chute. all his jumps were on 240-280 sq ft chutes with a ripcord. he showed up in quincy for the convention, got into the convention and was loading a plane when he asked someone how to use a throw-out. some one pulled him over to the manifest and didn't let him on the load. this guy was only minutes from a poss accident thanks to someone not finding out if he could handle the gear they sold him. Bigway did a great job for what he did and i wish others would follow his example. he possibly saved a life. not to often do we see someone put safety first and profit second anymore.

something soft for the student and deffinatly open faced for you. no instructor should have a full face becuse you may need to try to communicate

i don't understand the lack of responsibility some instructors show. this HD tandem is a very dangerous jump ! when an instructor starts to take chances to amuse themselves it is time to take a break from students. My personal experience is that the droug pouches and velcro are usually worn badly from to many jumps and bad packers to trust at that speed and anlge. This TI needs some time to rethink weather she really should be doing tandems.

scan the internet yourself - use the realtor that is selling the house and have him/her drop the commision by 40% and split the 40% with the seller and everyone wins
