  2. I second this sentiment. Palatka is a great place to jump. If you want to be instantly welcomed, a dz with a great plane and small dz fee, invited on loads immediately go to Palatka. Of course ZHills, Deland and Sebastian are all nice. Sebastian - Best View Deland - Best DZ Restaurant/Bar Zhills - All aorund good drop zone. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

  4. What happens in Deland - stays in Deland! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  5. Congrats. It's been about 6 weeks since I have had my rating and I am finally getting comfortable with exits (we jump 182's) and taking larger people. I am always seeking advice from the more experienced tandem instructos and continue to learn. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  6. If I am in Deland again this Thanksgiving I am going to have to try Deedy's cookies!!! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  7. Hey! If I catch you getting advice on dz.com I will kick your ass! Welcome! Missed you this weekend too. I was sick Friday and Saturday and then did some tandems in Etown on Sunday. See you this weekend? Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  8. :5:0 Love the photos Dave! Those are great! Just 5 jumps on Sunday. I have been fighting some upper respiratory thing all last week and felt well enough yesterday to haul some tandems. Had 5 great tandem students who were all very well behaved and actually did what they were supposed to. It was a good day!! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  9. I traveled 2 1/2 hours to come to this drop zone. As an experienced skydiver it is easy to be critical of other drop zones. But after visiting Skydive Kentucky I found an amazing little drop zone that I now refer to as my second home dz. The first time I visited I was welcomed by Jim and Tammy who immediately showed me their facilities, how the operations ran and their aircraft. As an instructor I was impressed with the organization of their student programs, the amount of time the staff spent with their students and the knowledge of their instructors. If you are a student looking for a quality drop zone to begin your skydiving career, then you should look no further than Skydive Kentucky. If you are an experienced skydiver, then you should definitely find time to check out this amazing drop zone. You will not be disappointed!
  10. Too close for comfort. Doors locked. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  11. +1 I am an instructor and also do 4 way competition stuff. I only have a handful of times where I have paid a packer. And it was only because our coach insisted we didn't have time between jumps. I strongly believe non student skydivers should pack for themself. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  12. : 11 : Think 0 I made 8 tandems and 3 fun jumps this week. It was a pretty awesome weekend. I can't remember anything I did resulting in beer. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

  22. I know... this is getting annoying. I can't imagine "No winners found" is a good thing for their website. Two of the other people who submitted photos have also posted on the Mcalisters Indiana Facebook page... so I don't think anyone has been notified at this time. Maybe it will happen late afternoon like the closing of the voting and the judging phase. Ugh, the anticipation. I got a text from a dz friend that said "I should have posted a photo of me baging my wife doggy style and the cup resting on her back for refreshment as needed". That was freaking hilarious!!!! 23. Hey Lisa, as someone that "quit" for good, I can say dont sell your gear. The best thing I ever did was quitting skydiving. The time I took off, I didnt even think about skydiving. When I finally did come back, it brought a whole new enjoyment to skydiving. Since quitting I earned my Tandem and Aff rating, and really enjoy jumping again. The time I took off helped me realise exactly why I jumped, and what I liked about the sport. The best part was my first jump back after over a year off, I felt like a first time jumper again, it was soo cool. So I agree go ahead and "Quit" just dont sell your gear. The rate that gear prices have increased, once you do decide to return the cost alone might keep that from happening. You never know, a few months from now you might want to make just one jump with your boyfriend, and having a rig will make this possible. It was great meeting you back in Florida, one of the best parts about skydiving for me, was meeting all the cool people. This would never have happened if I was into Golf or something similar. Blue SkiEs Ray I have the same story Ray and have the same thoughts. For different reasons than Skybytch I was out of the sport for 7 years. I kept my gear and it was waiting for me when I did get back in the sky. I then went on to get my AFF and Tandem ratings as well. Don't think of it as quitting... just keeping your feet on the ground for a while. Best of luck. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  24. So it now says "Phase Four: Winners Announced" But nothing. No name. No email. Nada. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  25. :4: This weekend was horrible for weather. Managed to get in 2 tandems, 1 AFF and one fun jump. Beer for first jump out of a Porter. Beer for landing off for first time with a tandem student. We landed well and without incident. The winds started picking up. I opted to not take tandems up with winds well over 20 by mid day. Then the clouds moved in and turned the day to crap yesterday. Congrats Wendy. That is very impressive. Makes Monday morning a little better I am sure! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
