  2. There will be a Porter arriving at Skydive Kentucky Friday afternoon and available all weekend. The weather in Elizabthtown is expected to be gorgeous with highs in the lower to mid 70's and plentiful sunshine. Skydive Kentucky will also have their Cessna 206 and 182 on hand and are talking about doing some formation load big ways. Anyone that is anywhere in the Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana area should check out this amazing drop zone that I have become to love like my own! Any quesitons see their website at www.skydivekentucky.com or call Jim Moore at 877-875-9348 Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  3. Today is the last day! Thank you all for voting. So the winner should be announced a week from today! I can't wait!!!! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  4. I am only 5'5" tall... so relatively short. This is something that is on my mind on every jump. I am very careful to keep toggles in my hands or in students at all times. I realize they can let go as I am adjusting the lower laterals and reconnecting the primary drogue release handle under canopy. But another good thing to keep in mind. 6. Just curious. How long was that canopy flight? It was really rather long, but it was a gorgeous day and we enjoyed the views and the ride. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  7. Thanks. This is all really good information and I appreciate any hints, tips, tricks as I will continue to learn. In reference to the lateral straps. The stow band on that rig is super stretched out and didn't secure the lateral strap. It is being replaced this week after pointing it out. That is good information on terminal openings on a tandem reserve. I am also super conservative with winds. Not only because I am new and see no reason to push my limits, but because I know we are underloaded. She was my only super lightly loaded student. I had a couple that were close to two hundred pounds this weekend - they fall a lot more stable! And can help much better with the flare on landing. I also had someone really tall. I won't do that again... just not easy to hook up in a 182. Again, thanks for the advice. I am in super learning mode and trying to learn all I can after being released into the wild! 8. Nope. At home. Kinda hard to find someone to fix car at 4 a.m. when getting ready to leave. By the time I got it started around 9 a.m. it was too late to make the 3 hour trek to Ohio so went to my home dz and worked there. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

  11. Frown at what? Weight? A couple pumps of the toggles and all was fine. "Doing tandems". I don't think it's frowned upon. I thought that was the reason to be a tandem master (or mistress). And the thought of you "doing" her is hot. . Hey... just doing my part in keeping business coming into the dz Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

  13. Here is a photo from my second actual tandem student. It helped that this girl was tiny - she weighed 88 pounds. I am just under 140... jumping a SET 400. The canopy did not want to inflate on opening. Great student and fun jump :) Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  14. A few of the guys at my dz were directly iinvolved with the psycho murderer. Tried to run one of them over in Quincy and crashed into a plane instead.... not a stable girl! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

  19. :7: 5 tandems - which is hard work out of a C182. 2 fun jumps - 2 way sunset RW throwing in a little kiss pass and an awesome 4 way jump. Beer will be a regular thing for me as I work through the new stuff being thrown at me while hauling tandem students. Lessons learned: * Fetal position on student is bad. Trust that you can outfly what is being thrown at you. * Students will pull high. * 6'4" students suck when attached to a 5'5" girl. * Scared passengers will pin your hands and arms on opening. * Don't hook up too early in a C182. * You can hear your passengers screaming on exit. * Learn communications skills with video guy (stuff like that not taught in course). Good overall weekend. Let's hear what you all have. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

  24. :21:lots of Wow what a weekend! Well, It actually started Wednesday for me. Here is the breakdown. I went through the Tandem Instructor Certification Course (Strong) and have completed both Phase 1 and Phase 2 and am now an official Tandem Instructor. I took paying customers on Saturday and Sunday. 12 tandems 3 AFF 6 static line 4 fun jumps at Skydive Kentucky This past week has been one of best ever in my skydiving career. I went to Skydive Kentucky not knowing a soul there and left with many new close friends that will be without a doubt lifelong friends. I miss everyone so much already.
