  1. so aside from the legstrap friction adapters and 3D ripcord handle pocket how is it different from late model pre-Odyssey Javelins ? Seems like Sunpath reinvented the wheel :(
  2. What is so "very good" about your rigger ? If you respect them so much, why do you not take their unwillingness to pack your rig as a sign that it needs to be retired ? On a 2nd note - Are they refusing to pack your rig simply because of it's age ? If so, you should remind the rigger that although they themselves are probably way over the drinking age, they are still functional.
  3. Has anyone ever told you that you rate 10 out of 10 on ambiguity scale ? What is your question ?
  4. If the main needs a reline you may as well use it as a car cover - the cost of reline is far greater than the value of the canopy, not to mention that being and old F111 wing it is really no good by the time the lines wear out. The container should be ok for belly flying, as long as all the velcro is nice and strong. The reserve is fine and I still have many friends using the SuperRaven series in their rigs. I personally like 'em, and know quite a few people who love 'em. The price - well, it's a bit much for such antiquated gear with no good main and I am guessing needing new velcro (riser covers, most likely main toggles, and possibly the reserve pin cover flap). But I do think it has value, just a bit less than $600 Also make sure it has a BOC, and that the spandex is not worn. Basically if you are extremely short on funds and are 100% ready to commit to staying on your belly while owning this, than there's no reason not to get it, as long as it's CHEAP.
  5. The Silhouette will be easier to pack, and will have a longer flare. I love Silhouettes :)
  6. hey TJ, call me, I will borrow you a 600sq ft POW/MIA flag :)
  7. Archaic product of GQ Security great for car covers :)
  8. you have a set of UPT risers with the ring facing in on the right riser installing a Dolphin where it's supposed to be facing in on the left riser, thus the awkward look
  9. With large 3 rings you can attach minirisers on the rig. But with mini 3 rings you can't attach large risers. But we all know the rules in skydiving, 1. Get it on video! 2. Look good while doing it. 3. Saftey. So because minirisers look better.... That's incorrect. There are plenty of Large risers made with mini 3rings. I belived the question was about the ringsize and not the webbingwidth of the risers. If the question is about the actual riser width, then my statement is incorrect, but if the question is about the rings, which is also the name of this topic, i stand my ground on my statement I suggest you read this again. You stated that presence of mini 3 rings takes away the ability to use large risers. And that's false. I said it, Sparky showed you a picture. keep digging.
  10. here's what PD says : http://www.performancedesigns.com/faq.asp#14

  12. That rig had more than a flap or two replaced. The main lift web from the hip ring to the chest ring went from T-8 to T-7 and the reserve handle went from a pud to a D-handle. JerryBaumchen that container was washed, had the MLW replaced between the rings from T8 to T7, new BOC put on and the center flap and reserve pin cover flap replaced as well as a regular D-ring ripcord handle put on the washing and the flap replacements made the biggest visible difference. the rest was functional.
  13. you forgot : pull out the safety stow and find majority of strands broken past the zigzag junction and the stow being held together by sheath only I get plenty of those, as many people seem to never pull the stow out to inspect it
  14. Yes, all manufacturers will do it. Cost depends on the parts being replaced. here's a very nice example of before and after.
  15. no, they made them since the very early 90s into 2001 - and after 10+ years of production they discontinued the original Sabre and released the Sabre2. Your statement is equivalent of saying that any particular car model sucks because it is no longer produced.
  16. I have owned two (210 and 190) throughout my downsizing/transitions. No problems. They had the latest large slider. I have jumped over a dozen other ones, all with larger collapsible sliders and no problems. so yes, I would jump one, as long as it has a large size slider and a good lineset.
  17. If you paid under $500 for your jumpsuit and it doesn't match your rig you are automatically disqualified.
  18. I just got a Durachute (P22P). Pretty cool LITTLE thing. Feels like a brick with a vacuum sealed canopy. A EXTREMELY noticeable different from the old NB's
  19. I don't know how you approached/asked your rigger about this, but all things being equal, you need a new rigger. He may be one of the many confused souls that thinks that just because someone has a rigging ticket they have an OBLIGATION to educate. It's cool when you ask questions. It's not cool when someone tries to talk your ear off when you are trying to jump or trying to party. to OP : Ever try to ask the person who "is too busy" when would be a good time for them to answer your questions, and mention that you are willing to thank them with a 6pack or similar ? Your AFF instructor got paid for every jump they did with you, surely you don't expect a rigger to work for free ?
  20. Exactly what I am thinking. The Pegasus is rumored to be what one of the still produced BASE canopies is modeled after.
  21. Does every 3liter engine produce the same amount of power and have the same fuel economy and durability ? Canopies are built many different ways, using different materials and construction techniques. Being a 3D object they cannot be generecized by size only.
  22. 1.06 would be by wing loading at this moment in time but I'm currently about 20 lbs above my ideal weight according to my doctor and as I have a family history of type 2 diabetes I'm attempting to lose it. May I be a realist and tell you that planning based on a future weight loss is as piss poor strategy ? I've already lost 15 lbs in the last 2 months and should have lost the rest by january. I swim 1.5 miles twice a week and also use the wii 6 days a week. you lost 15lbs already and need to loose 20 more ? You do know that each successfive pound is harder to loose, right ? You also know that once you get down to your target weight, it's a real mindfuck to keep at it and not get lazy ? Hey - it's your body, not mine, I'm just a random voice of reason on the net :)

  24. how many jumps does your gear have ? any repairs done or needing to be done ? what are the DOMs ? what size person is it made for ?
  25. hmm. so how do I keep the harness/trashback from overlapping my normal rig? I guess my options are: 1. 2nd harness/trashbag 2. pack crappier and wait 3. track down a specific "cutaway rig" near Missouri.. not really thrilled w/any of the 3 options.. it's quite simple. your empty harness (a BASE container in my case) has nothing in it, so is slack, see the pic before boarding
