  1. I have always flared "normally" - no tricks, just like a Sabre. Jumped 120-190 sized ones with no issues.
  2. If that's all it is, it's a fairly easy jobbie to take the pantlegs in a bit. Talk to your friendly rigger. Of course if it's the wrong color, then than you do need to buy a new one.
  3. No tats, no piercings. Putting something that permanent on my body scares me shitless. Call me scared of a commitment :) Did have long hair for 17 years though ...
  4. No, using 22809, it would be the 22nd week of the year ending in ***8, qnd the 09 would be the 9th unit made that week. MEL And another good hint to determine the decade, is to look at the date on the harness 3ring - its stamped with the production date as well. Just dont forget that it is most likely from a batch older than the harness.
  5. the Racers that I have seen only stamp the SN. the current manual says : "The date of manu fac turer on the data la bel is also the se rial number of the sys tem. The first two dig its of the this number de note the week of manu fac ture. The third digit de notes the year. The last two dig its de note the se quence. Cau tion: This man"
  6. I had an M4 with a Xfire2-149 for a while, felt soft, but not unsafe. I imagine it should work fine as long as you work on filling out the bag uniformly.
  7. But even in the late 90's the Cypers1s sold for $950 I am sure they were even cheaper when they came out in the early 90s. Any of you old timers got an old papyrus invoice to reference that ?
  8. I'd TARD the reserve and use the lines from the main as well as the main and the reserve bridle to secure the passenger in my harness in a nut-to-nut configuration. That reserve bridle can be made into a somewhat decent harness, and a tard has minimal opening shock.
  9. 3" out of trim doesn't sound too out of line to me. After 500 jumps on my Stiletto 120 the outer lines had shrunk 6" which was 4.5" more than the inner lines. A bigger canopy with longer lines would have had more shrinkage. I couldn't speak to when PD considers a canopy out of trim enough that they'd want to correct it. let me rephrase using exact terms : a canopy with 200 jumps should not need a reline a canopy with 200 jumps should not be 3" out of trim
  10. 3" out of trim and needing a reline surely does not sound like the claimed 200 jumps .. sounds like you should have gotten a gallon jug of KY with your purchase :(
  11. I cannot answer your question, BUT : Not seeing an open chute doesn't mean there isn't one. I have seen the jumper a number of times many years after the video was shot, and can assure you with 100% certainty that he survived that jump.
  12. no, he did not die. this is the jumper : http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?username=outrager;
  13. I packed a dacron lined PD280 and Navigator 260 into a D6. My guess is that a 300ft F111 will fit, but may be a little tight, but definitely not impossible
  14. While one can lower their car stereo volume, the document clearly spells out the fact that the plane(s) in question cannot be quieted any further than it already is. Spend much time pushing doors that very clearly spell that they need to be pulled ? I am attaching a picture for reference. Seems to demonstrate the current Kim Gibbs Cool-aid movement well.
  15. ooopsie. signed the petition as soon as I saw it. also jumped helicopters, airplanes, paragliders and balloons with non-TSO'd single parachute systems :)
  16. BS jumping from aircraft = skydive jumping from fixed object = BASE jump by your definition if I was to take a skydiving rig of a cliff it would be a skydive...
  17. I bought a unit from him which I subsequently had turned back over to Pioneer. His attorney contacted me a few weeks back, and I advised her that Justin still owed me a bit of $$$. Since then Justin had sent me two emails saying that he will be calling me to discuss the $$$ issue. I have not gotten any phone calls from him, so I guess he and his legal team did just enough to keep the judge happy, but did not necessarily right all the wrongs...
  18. Good reading with very good data : http://www.ci.longmont.co.us/city_council/agendas/2011/documents/121311_11A.pdf
  19. Not to be repetitive, but the Astra DID NOT kill, nor did it contribute to his death...
  20. you still got choices : a) do a few PLFs on grass and dirt and get rid of that disgusting new look b) accept yourself to be the 1%er
  21. Anytime you see someone with new colorful matching gear you can safely make one of the two assumptions : a) Noob b) Awesome sponsored athlete 99% of the time you will be right
  22. never had one in all of my adult life ... never in my life wore a tie or a suit to work :)
  23. Why ship using next day air for 90 bucks when ground would get it there in 2-3 days for under $30 ? Not to mention that gettting it there on Friday wont really do anything different than getting it there on Monday as PD closes at noon on Fridays.
  24. There is a guy i know, he use to jump back in the day....like right after you guys stopped jumping rounds. And he was telling me about waxing his lines to get better opennings. Thought he was yanking my chain. Or in this case my lines? He was probably waxing his furry dacron lines of an oversized slow opening canopy to promote the slider to come down faster. It's very unlikely that such fix applies to you, or anything modern.
