  3. Man, I hate all this shapeist talk, why can't we all just eat pies and get along with each other? "I have a dream..."
  4. Okay awl yew Southern Belles, listen up..... The weather is apalling, where is all the mist, rain, low cloud, sleet, and high winds I am used to eh? Cheez, the temp has rarely dropped below 40 since I've been here, and it only rains at night. What was the point in me bringing my winter woolies and longjohns to this place.... It ain't real skydiving unless you land with a layer of ice on yer jump suit, then have to wade thru 3 miles of mud, blood, and sheep shit across arctic tundra to get to the manifest hovel. None of this "air conditioned carpetted packing areas" where I come from! Purpose built skydiving resorts only 30 minutes (and only 4 turns) from my front door, bah.....Where is the god forsaken, back of beyond, burnt out, first world war airstrip I know and love so well. And as for your aircraft, don't talk to me about the "Texas Twotters", 12 minutes to altitude, 15 minute turnarounds, whats that all about? How I pine for the days of paying over the odds to ride some ex soviet canvas and wood biplane, 12 jumpers with front and back kit to 3k in about 2 1/2 weeks, I mean jeepers, even your cessnas have reasonable engines, doors, steps, etc...How am I supposed to get any work done when I can sneak out the office and squeeze a couple of jumps in on a friday afternoon, then spend the entire weekend, every weekend up jumping, and droppping till I party ? I didn't come here to skydive, I'm here to spend my entire time locked in a cube working 23 hours a day to make some lazy assed shareholder enough money to buy another Lexus for his villa in the Bahamas. And I haven't seen a single sheep since I got here, whassaat all about eh? No wonder you all have to be really freindly, there's no sheep around to strike up a meaningful relationship with! As for the State of Texas, well I get in a bigger state than that every friday after a case of Shiner..... If you wanna take this futher, I suggest you and your coven of cuties gang up on me, and ambush me when you are next down at Spaceland. Best lion voice...."Put 'em put 'em up.... I'll fight you. I'll fight you all, I'll fight you with one hand tied behind my back....." Cya D
  5. ""you making the suits for us, ?" Suits? " Yeah suits.... Okay Clay, here's the plan, you get busy measuring the hotties up, I'll supply the cellophane..... Gotta go, Cya D
  6. "Shaking from withdrawl !! " Know how you feel, winter time, save yer loot, blow it on a trip stateside or down in Empurio, if that's too much to ask, then treat yersel' to some videos....Nothing like an evening of fellow skyjunkies, beer, fatties, tall tales, and some aerial flickery to chase away the blooz...Of course, new gear helps too Cya D
  7. Or you can sit in the office on overtime trawling through the forums, hehehe....helps fund the habit, and keeps you sane at the same time. I know all about UK weather, I feel for you man, I'm on vacation-oooops- assignment from Scotland in Texas right now, not missing it a bit....Och aye y'awll
  8. Well I didn't skydive today, did you? mebbe tomorrow tho....
  9. Aye, but the weather is appalling, and the planes are crap too...
  10. Or those goofy airtime patch trousers
  11. Is that the Connie that used to go to Quincy? I'd love to own it, but my credit card is still a little maxed out after the weekends jumpfest...

  13. Hey Paul, YMMV??? whassat? Agreed if the snaps are already on the hard drive then its relatively simple with Toast, or Easycd or similar. Bear in mind you still need to get the snaps out of your camera, even with a dedicated card reader (to save camera batteries), you still need to upload to your hard disc then spit out to CD, assuming we are talking about 'doing this' like a tandem spool. Also, a lot of people still don't have PCs at home, so you would have to also offer traditional snaps as an option, ergo two camera setups, or a good high quality printer at the DZ. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about gadgets and gismos, but they have to be useful.......or provide a tangible benefit. Nice website by the way. Cya D PS I could have waxed technical, but it looks like Aggiedave covered a lot of the points I would have mentioned.
  14. Don't forget the time it takes to burn a CD, or even worse a DVD, compared to popping the film out of the camera..... Not really a big issue for fun jumpers exchanging snaps, but at a busy Tandem operation, its just something else the cameraflyer and teh video crew have to work on..... tuppence worth, and that's value for money D
  15. Emma, Paula et al, the articles and pictures are here, www.skydivemag.com You can either use search, or just trawl through the 'reprints' in the back issues, cos there is loads of good stuff on-line...... Not just for RW fliers, but good stuff on starting FF, safety etc... BTW I think Lesley Gale is great, and this resource is way under utilised! Cya D
  16. Eeewwyuuukkk, now there's an image Ho Ho Ho little boy. D
  17. I spent 4 hours in a meeting this morning talking about free-fall lifeboats for an oil platform we are designing........Couldn't get my mind off raft dives.....My reverie was only disturbed by thoughts of BOOBIES
  18. "We're being polite to our female posters....." You got posters of females??? Oh wait, its Clay, of course you have....
  19. "Hey what kind of nasty predators do they have in the UK?" Oh the usual, lawyers, accountants, tax inspectors . Not to mention the 10 to 2 girls , and the worst predators of all, Tandem Instructors.....Hehehe Cya D
  20. Cough, the wheels from supermarket trolleys work fine, Cough, I hear....Like a friend told me in the pub one night......Especially the front ones used on B&Q's (UK hardware store), Honest your honour....
  21. "Yup, I was taught under 2000' pull silver. Isn't that the general rule of thumb, or am I off?" Its a good guide, and 2000 is probably most peoples "action altitude" in the event of a mal. OTOH if I had a CRW rig (packed for a fast sub term opening), I'd be tempted to go main, unless the AC emergency ocurred way out over some nastiness such as a wide river, woods etc. As with anything else, its better to be flexible and know what the issues are, that way you can assess your options, and make an educated (hopefully correct) decision.. At least, that's the way I like to think.
  22. "You just need some more beer, man, " Now that's the sort of free coaching and advice I'm talking about. Right on Bro, I'm off to 'train' tonight.... Cya D
  23. So that's what ya look like head down
  24. Yeah wildblue is right there is a 2 gig file size limit on win98, which at full DV resolution will give you about 8-9 minutes of flickery with CD quality sound. As suggested in a previous post its best to edit and play with movies in short chunks. Cya D
