  1. "I hate statistics" 98.2% of statistics are just made up...... D
  2. Its ace lens man Colin Bridges, camera flier with VNE. He spent a lot of time as Georges right hand man so knows all about CnG. They are gonna be rebranded Tehm Oot, he he he. BTW, I used a protype new model for a while and it was really good, just as loud and easy to use, but it fitted real nice inside my Gath. I'm gonna get a Pucca one next time I'm home in the UK as I can't find a dealer that has em here in the US.
  3. What a great story.. I'm non military, but have massive respect for those serving, and veterans. I don't want to sound corny or condescending, but none of us should ever, EVER, forget the debt we all owe for our freedom. D
  4. I'd go with the AN 72, I like 'em even more than hercs. I think Vichy once had an Ilyushin 76, now that would have been fun.
  5. Home is in Scotland, I'm in Texas, ho hummm....
  6. * Andrea does the "churn the butter" dance*..... Jumps her new baby, then does the 'gotta buy beer dance'.... Then, as an encore does the 'damn, new canopies are a complete bitch to pack' dance... Have fun, I luv new gear too, breaks your heart to jump it in the winter tho. cya D
  7. ROFLMAO, not exhaustive, I've still gotta try and get that nipple in my eye at 400ft on finals....LOL
  8. Unless your rig has hip rings, then its going to be either expensive or end up ugly. I had to 'extend' a leg strap after some paramedics cut one of my straps, and the rig just never felt the same again. Try posting on the rigging forum for advice. IMHO, its not worth it. As for misrouting the chest strap, get one of your pals to give you a kit check prior to enplaning, this is normally a requirement in the UK, there is no shame in it, and it might just save your life. Stay safe man D
  9. Didn't realise that, but now you mention it , and as I gaze out the window opening and closing one eye , yeah, seems logical. Thanks Marc.
  10. One of the worst culprits I've come across was a jump pilot, used to fly an Islander in Scotland, all cramped up, no way out, yuk....
  11. Yeah, we know who the regular culprits are, and no it wasn't me either....
  12. 80 is typical for Herc loads, in sport jumping. The tricky part is getting everyone out over a decent spot....
  13. I guess its almost natural (I know it doesn't seem natural at the time!!!). On the ride up the external air pressure decreases, the pressure difference between the body and the atmosphere will increase. So I guess something has to give. I have noticed that certain individuals are more prone to this than others though....
  14. Try and get Jonesy to let you do a beach jump, that should top things off nicely.
  15. 80 jumpers comfortably, but this from the herc boogie site www.herculesboogie.com "Overloading the Hercules was very easy, due to its large, square cargo hold. Proof of this fact was provided in 1975, when the last Herk left Vietnam. Just as the Communist troops invaded the air base at Tan Son Nhut, the Hercules took off with its cargo of refugees, needing every inch of the 11,500 feet runway to become airborne. The reason for this became clear when the 'plane was unloaded in Thailand and it was discovered that there were 452 refugees aboard and the excess weight over 9 tons"
  16. Just tell sunpath the canopies that you intend to use, and what AAD if any. There's a space for it on the order form, they will decide what size of container you need.
  17. Yeah, and point taken, but you need two (nipple free) eyes for effective depth perception, and either way you still only have (at best, even accepting the eyes as independent altitude devices) three levels of redundancy....
  18. "Ummm...the answer...Don't get that low JACKASS!!! I have an analog altimeter, audible altimeter, and two MK-1 eyeballs which makes for a quadruple redundant altitude warning system........" The dude may have been thinking about an A/C emergency.... And btw your system is only double redundant as the eyeballs are controlled by a single brain. It could even be argued that the analog alti is u/s without the eyeballs, making your altitude management system only single redundant.
  19. Most of my family live in NZ, if there was work for me, I'd be there too. Its probably the best country I have ever visited, second only to dear old Scotland. Can't wait to get back there next year.
  20. Paul, I think we should teach all that aerodyamic stuff on the first jump courses, instead of wasting time on other trivia!!!!! Maybe make better canopy pilots out of them. D
  21. The main thing is you were aware, rational, and actually did something to solve your situation. Too many folk out there aren't heads up, and end up hurting themselves, and that's not good for any of us, this was obviously not the case here.... I'm not an instructor, rigger, or anything to do with STA, but I do believe that we can all learn from each other's experiences. I agree, posting experiences like your one is a good way to stimulate thought, solicit opinions etc. Much better to think about these things down here. Just glad the situation was resolved without any drama. Somebody else suggested punching the container which is probably what I would have tried first, I discussed this a few years back with an instructor, you can actually hit the container side pretty hard with your elbows. In retrospect, given the altitude, I would combine this with a wee track like yours. Blue ones, and thanks for making us think about things again. D.
  22. 22 lb pull....probably more by the sound of the it If the PC isn't pulling it. Try this, put a pull scale on the closing loop of a rig, put the rig on and see how much pull you can exert, never tried it but the ergonomics don't sound too good. I'm not into this reaching round shit, wastes time (okay in this case there was plenty), and I guess you are at risk of dislocating your shoulder as the deplyoment pulls the risers out. Just my opinion.. D
  23. Tom, in answer to:- 1:-umm dunno, doubt it. 2:-chop n go silver, I can't think of any type of mal that I wouldn't automatically chop. 3:-chop. Dude, am I reading this right...you have a mal, you think about it for a while, then start tracking???? How long were yopu going to track for before you decided to change plans again.... "I'm not sure I made the right the decision" well you survived this one. Methinks this thread is about to get busy..... Seeing as its winter out there, folks, just a thought, check your velcro, if it gets damp and then freezes at altitude, you may be in for a fright. Take care out there.. D
  24. All the above, plus, get video...It really does help. D
