  1. No no no, you're telling them all wrong. We absorb oxygen from the air through our skin. Thats why we have to flap our cheeks in freefall because it creates more surface area. If you apply liquid to your skin (or go through a cloud) you can suffocate. Thats why we arent allowed to fall through clouds I read that somewhere a while ago but can't remember where, maybe it was on here. 2. If the rules state the container cannot be sealed then your best bet would be to pull the trick the guy did in the movie "Out Cold." Just take a big swig before you jump and spit it back in the cup once you hit the ground. 3. Another trick I noticed is to tell the person working the xray machine that there is a parachute in the bag. If you don't it's very amusing to watch their face when they try and figure out what they are looking at but it takes longer to get through. 4. I've only got 250ish jumps so I'm definitely not a pro packer by any means but I am normally pretty particular and OCD about it. I bought a brand new Pilot 168 this summer and loved it. The reason I bought it was because earlier this summer my friend bought a Pilot 168 brand new as well and I put about a dozen jumps on his. I noticed when I got mine that my openings were a lot softer. Not that they were hard on his, mine are just softer. They were both brand new pilot 168's though so I am wondering if the container has something to do with it. I was jumping his in an Icon and jump mine in a Javelin. 5. What the hell is going on this week? It seems like we are getting flooded with posts from kids and nonjumpers. At least they are trying a little harder and making up license numbers, too bad we can tell they are made up Reminds me of the scene in Little Rascals when the banker asks them for their account number and they answer "4" "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  6. A 5238767 When did the number of A licenses get in the millions? "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  7. I've traveled with my gear in about a half dozen different airports and haven't had a problem. Most just want to take a peak in the gear bag and some do an explosives test. Just in case though I have printed out all the rules and regulations on what the TSA can and cant do (you can find these all at uspa.org) and keep them with me at all times. 8. Thats because it would have made an awesome slow motion shot Although it is best you got out of there otherwise I might have been yelled at for geeking in front of the camera "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  9. Well Scott I would ask you to do it but last time i did something crazy with you doing video you threw out at 5k and missed it! I did no such thing!!! it was at least 4.5k... Ok, maybe it was 4k, cuz when i went to my back and looked back up at the person holding the hoop was pulling in place Still no reason for missing a vertical hoop jump! (Edit for me being an idiot and not knowing how to type.) 11. I would love to do the math but I need all the numbers first, like how many attempts there are. From reading other threads apperently it happens over land a lot more than i thought. I still think water would be a little safer. But what am I talking about, since when did numbers mean anything to people that play with parachutes? 12. Haha, I don't really agree with that. I don't know if people would be able to put up with me if I were any more nuts "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  13. Yeah it's pretty bad but we go wakeboarding in it all the time. Not third nut...yet "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  14. I wanna try it So far the things that I am concerned about are: -hard turn into the water and getting entangled -getting pulled by the boat after hitting the water "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  15. OK, so I have heard of people hooking canopies with ropes up to battery carts, golf carts, pick up trucks, etc and flying their canopy in strong winds, but has anyone has any experience doing it with a boat? I'm obviously not talking about paragliding, i'm talking about attaching a sport canopy to like a ski bar of a boat with a rope. Anyone done it? Thoughts? 16. Doesn't Redbull already have their own insurance for demos and events though? Unless I am thinking about somthing else the topic came up when talking about Bridge Day a few years back. 19. Never, the existance and progression of our sport and it's offshoots are great supporting evidence Edit for spelling and bad grammer, the other thread must have rubbed off on me. 20. This is great. I really should be working but I can't stop myself from hitting the refrssh button very 30 seconds "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  21. Haha, i was thinking the same thing. Although I would rather be at the DZ to see the scene that is bound to occur when someone realizes this attitude won't fly. 22. First off I wasn't flaming you, I just don't understand your reasoning but to each there own. The problem is someone that admittedly doesnt have canopy skills posted here to get some solid advice and help and you suggested they try a really dangerous activity that involves a lot more factors for risk. You corrected yourself in your second post and said someone needs to have the experience and know what they are doing....which just reflects my originals thoughts that this little tangent shouldnt have been in this topic in the first place. On a side note I have nothing against ground launching and would love to try it. Unfortunately Ohio doesnt have the best terrain. 23. What? Thats like telling someone to BASE jump so they can practice their PLFs. Everything you can do from a ground launch you can do in the sky. If you want more canopy time just pop higher so you can practice. 24. Okay, now I sorta know who she is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWPY7b35vF4 Haha you beat me to it. I hate Nancy Grace and that clip is great. Too bad you can tell that the second half is totally edited. 25. Wow....your best source of what happened in that situation should have been your debriefing. I know you said you had 14 jumps so if you werent doing a coach jump I assume you were unsupervised but didnt someone at your DZ speak with you after your reserve ride? What did the rigger say when you brought everything back and the handles were still in place? Was this an AAD fire?
