  1. I guess people are afraid of what they don't fully understand. Afraid might not be the right word. eg. The world is flat, you'll sail that boat off the edge... Cars will never go faster than 60 miles an hour because people will pass out at that speed... Rock and roll is the devils music... Silly points I know, but some people hate leaving that comfort zone, and other can't stand being in it. And some people just can't do things for the sake of fun alone
  2. I guess it goes back to actually defining "normal." I have friends that are jealous/can't understand/want to know more/don't want to hear anything...... about any gravity related sport. Its all in who you talk to. They all think they are normal. I think they all think I'm a little weird.
  3. 2 min, nice brother!!! I hear the video of the wingsuit jump we did at Lost Prairie will be posted soon, maybe you can Ewan goin eh?? Jay
  4. I just recieved one of those "you have a parcel" notes in the mail today. Says I can pick it up tomorrow. Now, do I get my hopes up and think its my PHI?? No email from BM saying it was sent, but they did say it would go out mid August... Maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe Or maybe its that camera helmet
  5. When, where, did you fly it, what was it like, other thoughts....?????
  6. I agree with you. I wear my seatbelt every time I'm in a car. But I guess what it boils down to, is that like a seatbelt, an AAD will not necessarily save my life. Its all in how a person is willing to rationalize the sport.
  7. After getting off student gear, I did the next 500 without one. An AAD will not make you a safer skydiver... and not having one will not make you less safe. Have one now. I tell ya, its weird having to "turn on my rig"
  8. Launch a round linked, only everyone grabbing the left ankle using there left hand. Big round spinning faster and faster until critical velocity is reached. Oh the carnage
  9. None of the above. IAD and old school progression right through to A.
  10. I never said I was any good at metaphors, but I can babble
  11. Check the Wingsuuit forum. Way too many threads already. How long do you actually have to survive to mean that it worked?? That is the question.
  12. I guess in the state of a release detonation switch, the bomb is gonna go off anyway, whether some one tries to stop him or not. There are wolves in this world. They are capable of incredible levels of violence, and are willing to use that violence for no other reason than for violence to exist. There are the sheep, that are peaceful. They wish no harm to anyone. These are who the wolf preys upon. There are the sheepdogs. The sheep dog, like the wolf, is capable of incredible levels of violence. The sheep are sometime uneasy about the sheepdogs, as they can appear to be of the same breed as the wolf. When the wolf is away, the sheep sometimes fear the sheepdog, believing the violence will be unleashed on them. The sheepdog, however, cares deeply for the sheep. He wishes no harm to them. But when the wolf comes... reaction is quick. There is little time to debate what may or may not be. Reaction must be with the knowledge at hand. The sheep only have the luxury of looking back because of the sheepdog. (edit:spelling)
  13. You are correct. It is possible, and very likely that a taser would in fact detonate the bomb. Bean bag round loaded shotguns, OC spray (ie mace or pepper spray) or other such less lethal weapons are also less desirable as a goal orientated subject (ie suicide bomber) would be able to focus through such tactics, if only long enough to detonate the bomb. If you doubt this, then why do police forces train there officers to fight through the effects of OC Spray. If they can do it, any one else can too. The only effective way to disarm a suicide bomb is the same way you disarm any bomb, shut down the ignition switch. Unfortunaltly, when the ignition switch is the human brain, there is little left but lethal force. And please, no "how bout shooting him in the hand/arm/leg" lines. All I gotta say is bite switch.
  14. Hmm, that sounds a lot like another group in the news. All for the better good.
  15. You'll protect me by posting several posts on DZ.com??
  16. Well for one, I will agree that the odds are very low, but it is possible. On the other had, if you research your facts as well as the last post indicates, you would know that. Post: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To ------------------------------------------------------------ I was just asking about the odds of that happening, ***Joel.*** But you didn't even offer odds. You busy making excuses about how it "could " happen at the same time. Thing is., We know it happened at the same time. That is a fact!!! I don't know what you want to argue about but, the question here is ; What are the odds that a security exercise with the exact same scenario ,including targeted stations , would occur simultaneous to an actual terrorist attack on those same targets. Any reasoned guess as to the odds , ***Joel?*** Blues, Cliff ______________________________ Truly, Jason
  17. I'm here to inform the "misinformed" Oh thats good
  18. Ok, so someone planned a practice scenario based on someone "bombing/gassing/other type of attack" the most likely targets, just as the most likely targets got hit. Still don't buy the conspiracy. You can't practice and compete at the same time.
  19. So identify the thread, or stop double posting.
  20. I don't usually subscribe to the conspiracy side of arguements. Just like to review facts. If you know of any independant media releases, either by two seperate sources, or better yet from the same source, showing a contradiction, I would most eagerly read them.
