  1. 1) It is not usable without it. There is nothing holding the flange into the mount. 2) a) Contact whomever you bought it from and see if they can't lend you one out of their stock until they can get one in from cookie. b) Contact Cookie composites via [email protected] and have them post/sell? you one. c) I believe the demo box is at chutingstar in deland, perhaps they would be so kind to get one out of their parts kit. (cookie composites maybe able to shed some light onto who might have some spare parts) d) Take your girlfriend's sex toy and cut off a chunk of silicone that fits the void where the "kidney" goes. ;-) Sorry but I don't have one here. You can probably get away with making one by injecting the void with some RTV silicone and letting it dry that is if none of the above solutions work for you, but then again its probably worth the wait so you don't loose a camera or kill someone on the ground. -Trunk Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  2. If anyone is interested, I finally had a chance to modify a Sony NEX-7 to add an external 2.5mm jack. The mod is a lot easier than the NEX5 but takes just as long since there is a really clean way to add the jack, but its tedious. Take a look. Use at your own risk! The camera is sick though. I haven't used it skydiving (since its not mine) but man is it fast and tiny! Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  3. You basically need to have one camera setup in 1 button mode and the other can be setup in normal or 1 button mode. Don't use the sync cable, and just turn on the two cameras. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  4. I think Chris Burket is the man when it comes to setting them up in freefall. He does all the DIT stuff for Joe and Norman. Not a bad guy to hire if you are looking to shoot with the RED Epic in freefall. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  5. I would put on the helmet and have someone help me find my natural line of sight. A easy way is by wearing the helmet and look comfortably at an object. Have someone mark this line with a piece of tape. This is now that the camera should square up with anglewise. Then put the box, camera and lens on and place it somewhere that fits and is square with that line. Mark this. Have you buddy hold up the box to your head and record a few seconds of footage. Make sure your nose and goggles is not in the frame. Next, take out the lining, and mark the holes with a sharpie. Drill slowly. Install the screws with a dab of locktight and a flat washer and you should be good. As far as is the helmet is good for this, its up to you; but this is how u mount it. 6. Sounds like it's over-currenting. I've had a few of those back in the day. Contact gopro via their web site http://gopro.com/support/ and enter in your serial number of your gopro with a description of the problem. Next search for the receipt as you will need that to get it RMA'd. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  7. side mount a gopro ;-) it's the same width as a PC120. I like the CX150, but if you want super thin, look into getting a TG1/5 with a cookie side box. Hell I got one, make me an offer. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  8. I remember an issue with version 9, contour files and a quicktime conflict. Maybe try downgrading/upgrading your quicktime like in here: quicktime 7.6 and search a bit more online about the issue. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  9. Just quick notes from the field. CX190 has no touch screen. CX200/210 has no wide angle lens attachment. It does work with the HYPEYE D PRO but you need to have the screen flipped open since there is no "turn on by lcd" feature in the general settings. It appears to work good in freefall and I'm waiting on the footage since I'm out of state right now. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  10. Unfortunately no. The cheaper route other than buying a new computer would be using a media player that allows you to continuously play the files in order (AC Ryan, western digital, etc (do your homework first as not sure if these do that but sure some do)). Just connect your gopro to the media player via usb, the rca output to your board and there you go. I don't know if this is a feature going forward on the gopro, but I do know similar ambrella chipset based cameras have the same methodology. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  11. I do feel they are unsharp and are muddled but that doesn't mean it will take unsellable photos. Think about the various angles and framing that you still can do with the GoPro. Sure you can't exactly pick your shot, but at 2 fps you most likely will grab that smile/angle that you setup. Basically what I'm saying is good photographers will produce good pictures bad flyers will produce bad pictures mostly independent of the tool used. I'm just showing the tool, it's your personal opinion as if its acceptable for your needs or not. USHPA (Hang Gliding and Paragliding) magazine regularly publishes GoPro Shots. TV commercials, music videos, and TV shows constantly have GoPro footage. Just food for thought. -Trunk Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  12. You can use a GoPro Chesty, drill a 1/4" hole and use a Contour Universal Mount on it. It's kinda a hack, but I've done it before. It's good for canopy flying but not so sure how good of a shot it would be for RW. -Trunk Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  13. Take a look at these exit photos taken with the gopro2. Team Dysfunction Images b images had their curves tweaked. Think they look good pretty damn good. After all my medical bills for my neck, I don't feel the weight of a 50d (etc) with a 15mm prime is worth the quality difference for a tandem customer. Now for commercial (non-daily) use that is a different story. To each their own though. I guess it all depends what is an acceptable product for your customer and conforming with the other photographers at your DZ. With that said, I know a few DZ's that sell GoPro HD photos instead of SLR photos. Exit 1 Exit 2 Exit 3 Exit 4 With that said, they are a bit grainy vs sharp zoomed in. Looks like it would make a good 8x10 though. Feel free to print one out and let us know. (Note: I was working during nationals so these photos were taken by Greg Gasson when I mounted the gopro2 to his camera helmet.) -Trunk Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC

  15. I would ohm out the GND pad since I think that screw needs to be installed to short it. There should be a ground on the battery though. Be careful about soldering to the switch since it is not sealed and flux may destroy the switch. Best of luck! Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  16. I mounted mine using two curved mounts running perpendicular to the face of the helmet. then the 90 degree bends heading up to the 3d case. I keep one foot bolted on and then bend it into place for the other. I use a philips to secure down all the mounts You should really fill out your profile cause your worry about wind resistance, worries me. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  17. Wow, thank you. I know a few people that need a new lens. I just saw that they were focused from the factory so I never wanted to touch it. Thx, -Trunk Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  18. You unfortunately can't swap out the lens on the GoPro. I never did the test, but it appears the photos on the standard def gopro and the gopro HD are the same. So if you want to you may be able to just find an old (non) wide gopro on ebay for fairly cheap. According to the manual you can set it to take pictures every 2 seconds. Also mess around with the modes. R5 will be the narrowest mode and will make the field of view 127 degrees wide. But shoot, that's only on video. Its a set field of view for stills. -Trunk Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  19. Perhaps you switched the metering mode. Other than that, I haven't jumped enough with the latest upgrade to add any valuable feedback. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  20. The only things I noticed with a slower laptop than I'm using now is sometimes if its searching for wifi it would really lock up the preview. So I used to turn off the wireless when I was editing. Also, make sure it's plugged in the wall. Even after setting the energy saving to high performance, it runs a lot faster when plugged in. Just a couple things. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC

  22. Of course, it would not be difficult to cut a hole in the bottom of the glove to retrieve the card, unlike helmets where you have a mount in the way. Of course, from what it sounds he's going to use linear editing boards anyway so the easier to find CX110/CX150 will work. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  23. Brandon from Arizona Arsenal ended up doing more jumps on the CX130/CX160 for me the past couple weeks and found: * All steadyshot modes and with it off, flutter on the CX160 in head-up. Tested with the Century .55x lens * Pure belly appeared fine I have seen some video of the CX700 with no lens in active mode and it appears it did not have any issues head-up. However, from the shadow of the video it appears side mounted. The video is at CX-700 Test OIS active mode - no lens, focus - manual infinity by I Kalinin On another note, Sony has some new standard def cameras that may work for budget conscious jumpers that are just burning to a SD DVD anyway. These cameras do not have OIS on them: SX44/SX45/SX65/SX85 Unfortunately, Sony on their HD cameras (SD cameras work fine) did change the AV/R protocol slightly. HYPEYE D PRO users may have issues focusing through certain lenses when the HYPEYE is installed. However, it should be noted that these cameras are super wide by default so a 6x/7x lens is good enough for most applications. None-the-less, if you are going to purchase a 2011 HD Camcorder we do have these special HYPEYE D PRO units on sale from our website. In the meantime, I will work on making a list of lenses that will work and not work with the current HYPEYE D PRO. I would not suggest getting this special model unless you absolutely need it. 24. Ron, What are you using for a backend accounting and inventory controls now? I use quickbooks integrated to a joomla/virtuemart online solution via a program called t-hub. It was not all that difficult to integrate but hiring someone maybe the easiest. I'm not as affluent on everything as the other guy, but online stores such as magneto looks very promising and may have ways of linking to your current POS system. Otherwise, that is the one part you hire out for. Also, maybe check the link on chutingstar's website, they seem to have a really good thing going and I'm sure Mike will point you in the right direction if you ask. -Trunk Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  25. Guys, a lot has happened since I started skydiving 9 overt years ago. For one I am no longer known as Bomb and another thing I don't smoke weed. With the business and everything I find it's finally time to retire the bomb420 account and start using this Trunk account instead. Think you all can agree it makes sense. You can always contact us/me via the website, trunk (at) gethypoxic dot com, or via this account. (Hope the admins don't kill me) Blue Ones, -Trunk Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
