  1. Or... Lets think about this a different way. In order for a POV always firing camera to be acceptable to people saying I'm not in control of when its firing it would need to shoot 3-5 frames a second. I figure this is where the switch reaction time equals the burst speed of the camera. (~200ms as person's normal reaction time +
  2. Also try a different charger (like blackberry/apple/ etc) and remove the sd card. A deeply dead li ion battery takes a bit to get going again and are sometimes dangerous. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  3. Lets think a bit technical about this. You figure your tongue/bite delay is around 200ms and the camera typically around
  4. For your own consideration. Some of you are talking about screen grabs vs. using the camera in photo mode. In photo mode they are pretty damn nice. GOPRO HERO 3 Black Photos from summerfest. Note that facebook really kills quality so here is a full res sample. I shot a whole event with the silver and feel most of them came out pretty good. And best off doing close to 40 jumps in 3 days and no pain in my neck for once! I do miss flying with the 5D/15mm combo, but for what I make on these shots $0, its not worth my medical bills (I have a spur on my upper neck) You do need to fly your butt off with a gopro, be fairly close and frame differently but its do-able. If a videographer can't fly for shit, their photos will suck no matter what they are using. The opposite is also true.... Btw this is my setup taken with I believe a 7D by Buckie so you can see what fb does to photos. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  5. Sweet. Never expected Sony to release an update. I'll give it a shot. Hopefully it changes my mind about the camera. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  6. With the vmc-avm1 the HYPEYE does work. I do stock a few of them on our website for those of you overseas. I'm working with my suppliers for finding a more permanent solution. Thank you, -Trunk Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  7. Sony unfortunately will not allow me to turn the camera on without having a screen flipped onto itself or the viewfinder pulled. Last I checked though, once the camera is set this way you can turn off the camera via the HYPEYE 2011+ and use it normally. The only issue I've heard is if you are using a wide angle lens you will see odd shake. With that said, both of these cameras are super wide stock and you probably don't even need a wide angle lens. 8. I've seen that sometimes about the jumping through menus. A bit of it has to do with the debouncing of the switch but I think the primary reason is the camera is not fully booted up yet. When the GOPRO starts it boots a few different cores and it seems the display shows before it really should. Give it a few second count after turning it on before switching through menus. That is what I've seen work. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  9. It can be done, just haven't done it yet and its a pretty pricey mod. ~$300 Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  10. Gilead, I had no problem with the one button mode with the latest update. You sure it says 2.37 when you power on the camera? It works slightly different than the Gopro 2 but actually makes it easier to turn it off and review your footage. Also try formatting your card before doing any of the updates. I've seen some odd directory structures really mess the camera up from running correctly. (not saying its wrong or right, just giving solutions) I always do the manual updates and never tired the java method. The latest update does seem pretty stable and I've been putting the camera through the ringer here in the lab testing out some backdoor scripts. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  11. Sounds like they are planning on making it an option. They made it lock to make the time lapse people happy but really think they are making for really shitty photos all around. However, thinking about it more, I guess most people don't do active sports with a .5/1 second photo rate, so it really is the skydivers that just have to deal with it. 12. I actually found this year the judges preferred the GOPRO in 720 60fps for freefly since it seemed a lot less "shaky." They were complaining about gopros until I brought the fact up that their favorite was actually a gopro. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC

  14. Unfortunately, your best bet and cheapest/cleanest option is just to purchase another cx150 from ebay. If you go with the cameras you listed (cx190/200/210) you may need to glue an adapter onto your camera to support a wide angle lens (see our website). If you want to upgrade, look into the Sony CX760/710 and their PJ (projector) counterparts. BOSS stabilization seems to work great in freefall and I have heard it called "butter". Now as far as the latest Sony cameras, everything from entry level up to the $699 price range has optical stabilization and does not have a wide angle adapter. The Sony PJ430V looks promising but will not work with the HYPEYE as of right now. This year's cameras also have a new connector called the Sony Multi-Terminal Port that replaces the "half moon/d/av R" connector. Luckily there is an multi to av/r adapter, but it's compatibility with the HYPEYE D is untested as of this writing. (Sony VMC-AVM1 Adapter Cable ) Depending on the complexity and the needs of the industry, HYPOXIC may or may not make a new replacement cable / HYPEYE Multi. Stay tuned on our facebook page since I tend not to follow this forum super close. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  15. The T5i seems very similar to the T4i but the SL1 is a new option for those looking for a small lightweight dslr. It's: * 14oz * 4.60 x 3.57 x 2.74in * Sports a 2.5mm shutter release jack and * Shoots 4fps raw (7 shot burst) * shoots 1080@30fps video with "continuous AF" * works with Standard canon EF lenses * And for what it's worth a 18MP sensor Sure more to come... PS the T5i shoots at 5fps Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  16. For what its worth, the schumacher quickshoes end up giving a bit more real estate and easier to mount on helmet sides. That is if you want a quick release mechanism. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  17. Nope. I generally copy and reformat each time I download into a descriptive folder and just kill non-used files within there. Also remember you can sort by date so the numbering doesn't help me out a bunch. Another note, after a few months, you'll find that setting your date is very very important! 18. Don't use the clip, just a 1/4-20 bolted to your helmet. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  19. Reversed like text is backwards or upside down as top is bottom and bottom is top? The latter situation is a setting. The other one try with a different player/computer and see if you have the same issue. Otherwise contact gopro. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  20. Try opening up the the LRV file of the same name in VLC and see what it is. The LRV is a super low res version for viewing over wifi. You may have to rename it .mp4 That is odd none-the-less. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  21. Protek mounted camera in freefall, talk about shake. Got to love when a company makes a demo video in really bad light that makes the camera look crappy. In some of the shots looks like the camera is actually smudged or perhaps its just that poor of quality. No specs listed on the actual camera but yet its HD version is 199 and 720P is 119 and VGA is 65. Hell a camera and a helmet for $65 bucks, not a bad deal, just probably not for us. (But I've been wrong before) Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  22. In addition to what DSE was saying and copying the footage over on your computer, make sure its plugged in! On most computers they run slower if its physically plugged into the wall. Also make sure your time machine is not backing up, adobe and the system are not updating, no one is sharing your itunes library, and its not searching for a network. Typically when I play back especially when doing presentations I turn off my wifi. Also back to basics of just plan rebooting. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  23. Zach, Thank you for the feedback with the camera. We made a few adapters but never had a chance to try one out in freefall. Trunk Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  24. While the camera is a bit smaller, there is no less effect of "line snag." It's still the same geometry ad has the same hazards. The wifi connect to your phone works well for framing the shot, but using the remote I've found doesn't work well in the sky. In fact, it actually adds more complexity and I personally stopped using it after a few jumps. K.I.S.S. is the best thing for jumping. Adding wifi remotes that need to be charged and link up to the camera seems to fail more times then work. Perhaps when gopro cleans up the firmware a bit it will be better, but right now its a complete failure of a feature. The RED light on the remote doesn't even blink and it takes a few seconds to react to it actually recording all while you are shitting your self vs. worrying about the dive and safety. (again a reason not to jump these too early) Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
  25. Wait, I haven't tried it in a bit, but try it on the ground. Hit record then press the photo button. You will now have some jpgs on the card as well as the whole mts file. You can use a HYPEYE 2011 with a photo kit and a bite switch to get similar results in the sky. It's not the fastest thing in the world, but it works. Trunk's Blog HYPOXIC's Instagram Like HYPOXIC
