  2. The post coupled with the Avatar is priceless......just friggin' priceless. And nope you will not be wasting you time at all in fact it will priceless being around a bunch of experienced WS'rs that can give you some pointers and instruction. I have been to very few events anywhere when a fledgling wasn't warmly welcomed to the flock. Rock on and have a great time.
  3. How did you purchase the gear? DZ.com classifieds? Do you have any e-mail correspondence with the seller describing the age and conditions of the gear?
  4. Check out the "intelligent molecules" in action around the 35 sec mark: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnUmfkwtqSY ....and you can see the GAS as well.
  5. These are my two favorite quotes: *Why are these guys still in their sleeping bags? *spacebat is vetter (Jarno..is this "bolder" or "better")? ...and from i.gizmodo.com: "Spacebat devouers skydivers on their way down from shuttle launce. Shriveled corpses found still attached to parachutes. Hunt for Spacebat continues...."
  6. The link is now also on the front page of CNN.com
  7. Have not read that one yet but also get a copy of Scott Campos' book "Skyflying - Wingsuits in Motion". He has a new edition coming out soon...if you go to his website http://www.skymonkeypublishing.com/ there is a note "Under Construction 2'nd Edition coming soon". You can find it here though: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/safety/detail_page.cgi?ID=587 http://www.gravitygear.com/store/product201.html ....definitely worth it for someone wanting to learn about wingsuits.
  8. The video itself may have not been epic (ok ok was not epic) but the jump itself certainly was. We all had the same conversation about Scotty's shuttle pic that was in the USA Today contest...some people didn't think it was the greatest photo and others thought it was the cat's meow. Just visualizing being on the sunset shuttle jump was in and of itself "epic" to me. Hearing Grey Mike on the video shout "there it is...EXIT...GO" brought back extremely vivid memories of an shuttle jump I did many years ago in Z-Hills. My jump didn't go as planned because of a last second scrub of the launch. Seeing Jeff's video really got my adrenaline going thinking about what I missed out on. Not many of us have gotten to do a shuttle jump and not many ever will. Even if the video was not Matt Hoover/Scotty Burns A+ quality who cares? Still a pretty damn cool jump. Wish I had been there.
  9. Jeff - sweet! Epic indeed....... Scottie - Let me know how I can paypal you $5 to get a website that works.
  10. It was the largest turn-out I have ever seen.....I think we had about 90-100 at Pepperell. Maybe jumping tomorrow!
  11. Yep...he was very good. His name was Ju'Not Joyner. He definitely should have been in the top 12 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4t5ip52KMUw
  12. The luckiest man in Turkey the world! wow.
  13. Nice! A little CRW thrown in after a wingsuit jump is definitely getting your money's worth! Nice vid and music and cool exit shots with the plane diving in the background. Looks like you had a few puffies to play with too. So...about the FXC. 'sup with that? I saw the comment "NOTE: FXC (AAD) is switched off, and use in combination with wingsuit is not recommended" but am still curious....FXC's are still used? I haven't seen one in quite a long time.
  14. Yep....can be done. From their user manual: Converting models A conversion between each of these four CYPRES2 models (Expert - Student - Tandem - Speed) is possible. To prevent accidental setting, this procedure has to be performed by the manufacturer. You can donwload the user manual at http://cypres.vegasystems.org/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=89&func=select&id=3&lang=en
  15. Roger, you can also use a LED or LCD light that you mount on goggles or visor of a helmet: http://www.l-and-b.dk/accessories.html I think the main thing you need is an audible altimiter and if you felt you wanted the additional light then get one of those as well.... Shorb, to make a clicky click the url button before and after your link.
  16. Don't taste the smelly nasty ones that haven't been washed in two years....try to find a new one like one that would have shown up in a recent "catpos" like post Looks like you have 9 to go....bang 'em out this weekend and let us know how your first flight goes.
  17. It is.... no need to EVER watch that video again! Don't know why but the "original" has always been really hard to find.....although it is funny how many "kermit" type "2 Girl" videos are online. LOL
  18. Don't you love Kermie's reaction to "2 girls"? Yes Yes I know this has been posted before (in '07) but if you haven't seen it it's a classic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOn1htjSZic
  19. fiddy? I think it was 10-12 yards at the most..at least from the left side.....don't know how far you were away way over there on the right hand side
  20. ....say it again brother! sounds like a great program. Hopefully even with the economy in the shitter you will have a ton of students this summer taking you up on this offer and becoming licensed jumpers.

  23. Yeah...but I liked this one: I phoned a child abuse line the other day. The kid at the other end of the line told me to fuck off.
