  1. So you can jump your BASE canopy from an airplane with a TSOed two-parachute rig that complies with FAA regulations -- none of which include any language about handle access. Beyond that, even most BASE-specific wingsuits do have handle access. 44 I get that, low profile rig that fits a large canopy. But why use it for base, just the fact that the risers run down the side and have to both clear the container evenly greatly increases the chances of line twists. Also, wouldn't this increase the chances of tension knots when half of the line set is pulled out of the tailpocket faster then the rest?
  2. Whats the point of having a MiraJeb when you cant even get to the handles anyway?
  3. I want to see where everyone else is going. I had some twat follow me once. The one place people don't look is forward and up. So here's my almost 500 jump newbie take on this... The person above, in front and tracking well is of little threat to you. You pull, he keeps going past you. And to a lesser extent someone tracking 100 or 200 feet directly above you is also of little threat. You effectively hit the breaks either when you flare or when your deploying canopy slows you down if you pull in a track. It's the person above and behind (the one you would see between your legs) that is of the most danger to collide with you when you deploy.
  4. Figured as much, chose very early not to jump with an rsl.
  5. Would a pilot chute pulling away a Dbagged main still have enough force to pull the reserve pin via an RSL?
  6. Where does it say how a pulse 150 flies loaded @1.3? Why is it that no one ever answers the actual question asked on dorkzone.com...
  7. Maybe this is overly paranoid, but i think a list could get large enough that other dzo's feel more comfortable adding themselves to it. Frankly I'd rather not be giving them ideas...
  8. I use the standard contour profile mounts and instead of a tether i put a quarter inch wide piece of gaf tape across the rails after attaching it to the mount. Prevents it from being able to slide forward and off if it got bumped. But not so strong that you cant grab it and slide it off deliberately if it happened to catch a line.
  9. Looks like a radio to me...
  10. It was done really live today, with sergey and jt chatting via video before they exited the blimp. Not broadcast quality but pretty damn good.
  11. Far as I know there is no setting change like the SLOW mode on L&B products. In the end it gets the deployment height right in the summary, but the alarms dont go off all the time. I like the Canopy alarm idea, I'll give that a try tomorrow.
  12. Is there a audible altimeter that goes off regardless of fall rate? I regularly fool my Neptune into thinking I'm under canopy on wingsuit jumps. Would be best if it were 3 stage.
  13. Seconded, you wont have trouble finding people to jump with in lodi.
  14. I have a ghost 3, I like it but want to try out a few other suits to decide what to get next. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of demo suits out there in my size. Interested in V3/V4, Venom, X2 and the current Verso (Scoop inlets). I'm in Nor Cal, let me know if your interested in a short term trade.

    You mean this one?
  16. Coke's annual profit is about 3 times Red Bulls annual sales. The more interesting comparison is margin... Coke sells at retail 6 12oz cans for about 3.00. Red Bull 1 8.4oz can is 2.00. If you consider the cost to package and ship 1 8oz can to 6 12oz cans. Its a total rip off, but I look at it as supporting my friends and the sports that would otherwise lack public exposure and financial support every time I buy a can. Red Bull really does make a lot of things possible for a lot of people.
  17. Ive said it before... THIS is how a wingsuit gets landed. Just add snow and the right winds.
  18. Not trying to be a dick, but if you have to ask... And your referring to them as XRW risers, there are probably a few other questions you should be asking first.
  19. Sounds like everyone should just fly the right tool for the job. There are no concessions made for body type or size in most other sports. The world base race sure doesn't. Compete where your suit/body type would be most successful. At 5'3" and 150 pounds I'm not gonna make a run for time in window, but i sure as hell would go after the speed comp. Unless you had 100 fliers show up you'd end up dividing into groups of two or three competitors. This isn't grade school, not everyone gets to play and be told they are good at everything. If you don't like the rules hold your own event or don't play. It IS fair if everyone follows the same rules, it just might not be what YOU prepared for.
  20. NOthing close to 3:1? I'd be willing to bet a couple suits can sustain over that. Hell I can sustain 2.5 to 2.7 in a Ghost, and I suck!!! Also I think the ridge soaring idea is going to be the way the first true wingsuit landing is done, and it's already possible under the right conditions with today's gear and a MASSIVE set of balls. But you arent gonna see me trying it.
  21. Isn't there a quote something like, if riding in a boats not swimming how can riding in a plane be flying...

Shortly after posting this I sent a message to macca. I also got a quick message from Robert and have messaged him back with the details best I can describe. I am new to wingsuits and skydiving in general, so I have just assumed that i was doing something wrong and who knows I may still be. I am in touch with the right man to sort this out. Thanks. I posted publicly initially because I thought it was probably just me and someone was going to come along and say stop doing X. And like Hjumper said I didn't want to bug Robi when I thought I sucked (and probably do) at flying.
