My ghost3 does this, ive been tryiing my hardest to make it stop. All kinds of tension on the leg wing when it happens. Just when flying steep and fast... Is this something that can be fixed?
  2. For wingsuiting with a ski helmet they work great. Tracking ok if you keep your head down. Freefall no way, the larger profile of the bottom edge causes them to lift when wind hits them from below. Keep the vents open so if they do catch wind under it has somewhere to go rather than just blow them off. I like them mostly because they clean up the airflow around my head and quiet the wind so i can hear changes in airspeed better.
  3. Fairly certain the answer is the same... Lodi. I and many others have no problem recommending it. Though your getting into morning fog season so there might ONLY ;-) be 5-10 loads going up on days it clears. Fairly large wingsuit contingent here as well.
  4. In the current world of extreme leg wing pressurization how much waving off is going on these days anyway...
  5. Got mine the other day. 11.5 weeks, worth the wait.
  6. With a name like that your lucky he let you on the plane... :)
  7. How are AD's handed down, does the owner/operator get a notification?
  8. Forget about the angles... In the end its just like throwing a baseball, you figure it out with experiance and some do it better then others. Nobody thinks about the math behind it, they just throw the ball.
  9. This is two seperate issues. One of the first issues (ie original violations) concerned AD 2008-11-10, which was basically the same type of inspection, but different requirements. In March of 2009 the FAA issued AD 2009-04-09, which supeceded AD 2008-11-10. The Parachute Center had 180 days to comply with this new AD. That brings us to November and the time frame mentioned in the violation. This second violation deals with the failure to comply with this newer AD and flying without it being completed in by November 2009. Not sure if i followed this right but are you saying these are new requirements imposed by the FAA, that Bill failed to follow after they were imposed?
  10. Wasn't flock and dock in May?
  11. Your suit arrive yet... Still impatiently awaiting the arrival of mine. The 11 week estimates on the website now are worrying me a little!
  12. Am I glad my scuba tank doesn't know that! What he sould have said is unconfined air in not compressible at subsonic speeds... Rather then compressing it travels around the object. Really means nothing here though. Not like anyone thought the wingsuiter was squishing the air!!!
  13. I'm buying it... Here's my reasoning. Mattt generated a ton of forward speed at very low vertical speeds and the key part is he transitioned that into horizontal flight efficiently. The head down method of diving creates greater 3d speeds but you waste too much energy overcoming the downward speed to ever have enough energy left to glide up at the end. His flight is much closer related to a high spped skyvan exit, that wingsuit pilot doesn't have the downward vertical speed to overcome either. Combine that with any bit of aid from thermals and you can glide up. How fast are high speed skyvan exits? And wingsuiters were gaining altitude on those long before the current generation of suits...
  14. Ordered mine July 7th... Anyone know what the best way is to get a status update. Wondering if i need to find a alternate suit for an upcoming event or if my new one will make it in time!!!
  15. I got a sabre 1 specifically because it is a GREAT wing-suit canopy. Almost trash pack it for wingsuit jumps(flake stabilizers only), no slider mods opens great every time usually even on heading. For non-wing-suit i roll some cells into the middle and bury the nose. Just make sure that slider is up tight against the stops every-time!!! 1.3 wingload. Theres a few others around the DZ that swear by sabre 1's for wingsuit also.
  16. What is with another manufacturer/models - no participants, disqualification (e.g. no cut-away for zippers) or just bad results? Correct me if im wrong here but i believe its open to all suits this year... Cutaways no longer required allow all the Tony suits in.
  17. School me please? So far all I know is parapack is heavier, more durable and hotter to wear. But what about performance?
  18. Skip the boogie, seriously seems like alot of 20 jump a year jumpers turn up. Watching the pattern at Davis last weekend was often scary with a skyvan full of mostly below average canopy pilots.
  19. They are claiming that the cypress should be able to sense whether or not the loop is through the cutter. Faulty design/product liability. If they can show misrouting the loop to be a foreseeable failure they may just have a case. Not one I agree with, but a case non the less.
  20. Ill take it up one notch... $40 it'll be a Super King Air tail-strike. Those suckers are low and the plane damn fast. Seriously dude, good luck. I'm sure your as awesome as you think you are, and I hope everything goes well for you. Get some exit training for high performance suits for your daughters sake before you send it. Watched a low number jumper in a ghost 2 exit a KA 200 that would have for sure hit a low tail a few weeks ago, got my attention for sure.
  21. Also not very active or current... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2517011;#2517011 Post from 2006 with 25 jumps, so 100 jumps in 5 years... Your either the worlds biggest moron or a troll. Good luck. Hope Robi sees this and loses your order (if thats not what already happened!!!)
  22. Just get a go-pro then you'll be able to know for sure!!!
  23. This is incorrect, I had two instructors for jump 1 and 2, and An AFF rated camera flyer on the 3rd. I and 100's of others have no problem jumping there. Getting on 6-8 loads on a weekday in April Rules. My biggest complaint, is the 5 minute, 15 minute calls... Be ready to get on the plane when you manifest!!!
  24. I jump with a Smith Maze ski helmet, soft earflaps with zipper pockets for headphones. Dytter lives in one flap and GPS in the other. Skydiving helmets are overpriced camera holders far as I'm concerned, the price they get away with charging is ridiculous considering there not rated for anything and cost as much if not more then Motorcycle helmets.
