  1. here's a few from the last two weeks http://laszloimage.com/June_2008_NEW/pages/June_30th_08_MG_0176.htm http://laszloimage.com/June_2008_NEW/pages/June_30th_08_MG_0183.htm http://laszloimage.com/July_2008_NEW/pages/July_11th_08%20033.htm http://laszloimage.com/July_2008_NEW/pages/July_12th_08%20011.htm http://laszloimage.com/July_2008_NEW/pages/July_12th_08_MG_0512.htm http://laszloimage.com/July_2008_NEW/pages/July_13th_08%20034.htm http://laszloimage.com/July_2008_NEW/pages/July_4th_08_MG_0274.htm http://laszloimage.com/July_2008_NEW/pages/July_4th_08_MG_0282.htm http://laszloimage.com/July_2008_NEW/pages/July_6th_08_MG_0325.htm http://laszloimage.com/July_2008_NEW/pages/July_6th_08_MG_0326.htm http://laszloimage.com/July_2008_NEW/pages/July_6th_08_MG_0331.htm http://laszloimage.com/July_2008_NEW/pages/July_10th_08_MG_0343.htm http://laszloimage.com/July_2008_NEW/pages/July_6th_08_MG_3931.htm -Laszlo-
  2. Congratulations for Norman! Thank you for the info! -Laszlo-
  3. Here's a few from last week. We've been shooting a TV pilot here NY intended to sell it for Discovery. -Laszlo- ps. the skydiving shots are frame grabs from HD video.
  4. WOW! Man you built another camera around the camera. It's awesome. You're definitelly know what you're doing.... But I have a similar qustion as Phil, 5 months? How much would it cost to sell it to others? Anyway, no doubt it is a marvelous achivment to build something like that at home. -Laszlo-
  5. I fly a Velocity-103 between 2 and 2.2 wingloading depends what I'm wearing and carrying... But I only recommend X-braced canopies for very experinced full time everyday skydivers. You have to be very current. Dealing malfunctions, traffic, and etc. while wearing a camera wing and the camera gear could be very easily more difficult than it has to be with any X-braced canopies. Personally I made 3,000 Stiletto jumps before I swapped to the Velo. I also pack for my self!!! -Laszlo-
  6. Exactly. Dirt bike pants and camera jacket. You can buy those pants between $20 and $40 when they're on sale at your nearby Bike/ATV store. -Laszlo-
  7. Spot, Thank you for the info about BluRay. Here's the info about my software I couldn't remember when we talked. It is called Power Producer by Cyber Link. It's a pretty lame application, it came with my LG BluRay burner. I wrote my tandem video onto Ridata BD-R and LG BD-RE (came with the burner) The video played at Best Buy on one of the Samsung player, on Sony Viao computer, and the BD-RE disc on the LG player as well. Everything else gave me "disc error" or "can't play" message. Now I'll try to use a different program to create a BluRay disc, and also I'll update the burner's firmware. Will see. ...by the way, those Ridata discs are $10 at Newegg.com http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817132051 Thanks again for the help! -Laszlo-
  8. Thanks for you all! To get the shot wasn't easy... I pulled at 13,000', had an extra camera under my jumsuit, two bottels of beer in my pockets. Everything had a safety strap so I couldn't loose anything. As soon as I was under canopy after stowing my slider I pulled out the camera from my jacket and took pictures of mhyself with the canopy. Then I put the camera back under my suit, and pulled a bottle of Corona out. It takes a bit to open it up, the cup had to be taken off very carefully to prevent to spill out all the beer. Then I had to tke the camera out again and take shots. Also it was pretty cold so wasn't too esasy to hold the camera and press the botton. Also I had to check the shots just to make sure everything was OK. All these with safety straps flaping around flying under the Velocity-103 at 2.2 wingloading. I have more and better pictures but I don't think it would be "politically correct" to publish them. The whole photo shoot was over by 6k so I could make sure everything is stowed back safely and I can fly my parachute normal. THIS WAS A STUNT!!! GUYS WITH FEW HOUNDRED JUMPS PLEASE DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!! GUYS WITH FEW THOUSAND... BE VERY CAREFUL!!! CHECK EVERYTHING ON THE GROUND BEFORE YOU JUMP!!! -Laszlo-
  9. Man, Please don't be so critical! It was a "Head Down" jump
  10. My "Beer O'clock" shot. ...a self portrait of my 6,000th -Laszlo-
  11. Righ on Spot! This is a very nice one. Congrats! -Laszlo-
  12. Nice Mike! ...I wonder who got that lens for you??? Have fun with it! Take care! -Laszlo-
  13. Belive it or not it still doesn't stick out that far on the side as any other side mount video camera!
  14. Lonnie, I don't have any pics of two flashes. But I can mount a one instead of the video camera (as you can see the HC30 in the pic) or even I can put another 580 between the video camera and the still camera (the video camera can slide out more to the right). Now I'm thinking to cut a hole on the left side of my helmet too, so I would be able to set up the second flash the same way as it is on the left side. The two flash+5D+video gets heavy though... but I jumped it a few times. Normally when I use two 580s I leave the video camera on the ground. For example if I need half power then I set 1/4 on each and fire them at the same time. So the two together give me 1/2 power but the recycle time happens at 1/4 speed. I also use NiCd rechargable batteries. They don't hold as mach charge as an alkaline batt. but they're deffinitely recycle the flash lot faster (I tested it many times). I have the fastest results with the Duracell 2650mAph rechargable. Normally these batteries are holding enough juice for 40-50 full power flash with 2-3 sec of recycle time at room temperature. When this time starts to decline normally after 30-40 recharge cycle then it's time to throw them away and buy new ones. One day I'll might try an external power source and have a cable run down from my helmet. (I sure it will be a better option for my neck...)
  15. All of them! I use 580 EX's Sometimes I mount 2 of them on my helmet sometimes I use only one. The power setting and how many flashes I use depends by the camera's exposure setting, the lens I use (focal lenght), how many shots I want to take, and the most likely distance from my subject. Very very sometime I use the ETTL (auto) when I have to take pictures from very close and the person wears lots of white, then the next shot will be the opposite, farther out and darker colors. One flash at full power for a 20-way during daylight (...you really want to take the picture when the last person makes the grip, if you miss it the flash won't be ready for 3-5 sec and by then the formation might don't exist anymore): http://laszloimage.com/March_2008_NEW/pages/March_29th_08_MG_9607.htm (5D, 24mm, 1/320, f9, ISO100) AFF level-7 yesterday day light with half power. I took only 8-9 shots: http://www.laszloimage.com/April_2008_NEW/pages/April_12_08_MG_2465.htm (Rebel XT, 15mm=24, 1/320, f9, ISO100) AFF level-1 yesterday an hour before sunset with 1/4 power: http://www.laszloimage.com/April_2008_NEW/pages/April_12th_08_MG_2529.htm (XT, 1/250, f7.1, ISO100) -Laszlo-
  16. ...yeh baby yeh!!! She's going to see me... Tonight.... I'm writing this from the hotel room already. ...anyway let's be serious. Thank you Pia! Scott contacted me already and sent him an e-mail. The models are Kodak V570 and Kodak V705. I'm currently looking for other possibilties since these two are discontinued. There's a few out there with 28mm view (vs. the Kodak's 23mm!!!) by Olympus, Panasonic, and Samsung. Will see... I'll post them as soon as I find I what works and what doesn't. -Laszlo-
  17. CX7 isn't on the list either on Sony's own web site! But guess what? The AV controller works with the CX7 too. I know 'cause I tried it.
  18. 100% agree! -Laszlo- ps. you can find those things cheaper on ebay, but you have to be lucky to make a real deal.
  19. Spot, Thank you for the info! It looks very impressive. There's a whole bunch of features I wouldunt use (imagine when you lost count of the presses...). But the usual stdby/rec function, auidable connection, and the bite switch connection are very cool. ...I guess I'll stop messing with the AV2 remote, this device is lot better, I'm sure it will be hard to compete against it in price as well.
  20. Thanks man! Years ago I've been modifying my 4MP Sony DSC still camera remote for the bite switch. That one had a similar "trick", installing a 10K resistor. I thought that remote would work with any Sony products through the LANC, but it only worked with that practicular Sony camera. It wasn't a LANC, but deffinitely used some sort of BUS to communicate with the camera.
  21. Thanks for the info man! This is very impressive. We would have thought the LANC (like the CamEye) and that new Sony remote through the AV port were two totally different protocols. I would never even think about it the solution is just that simple, to splice an AV plug onto a LANC device (CamEye). I modified the Sony AV remote to make it "skydiver friendly" which is a real pain in a butt. But this solution is very simple. Thanks again! -Laszlo-
  22. ...for tandems? Kodak V570 or Kodak V705 point&shoot camera (if you want digital) or Canon Elph LT (uses APS film). Both weigh about 4-5oz. No costumer ever complained about the quality of ther pictures in the last 4 years.
  23. Direct access to features trough real press buttons instead of the stupid touch screen. As it used to be on cameras in the late '90s. I wouldn't mind to pay the extra $ either If colud have a small video camera (up to date standard HD quality like HC9, CX7) with the features of my good old VX2000. A true professional video camera in a size and weight of the consumer camera. (Technically it's possible now days). Can you really make this happen? Do you have the connections and the infulance to push Sony or any other manufacture to make this happen? That would be awesome!!! -Laszlo-
  24. There was another funny story about 2 weeks ago. I was at Tampa International Mall and stepped in Ritz camera. I tried to be a "dick" a little bit and ask the girl behind the counter which DSLR camera is the best. She pointed to one. Then I asked "why ?" Her answer was "Bacause that is on the top shelf". ...top shelf camera is just like top shelf liquore? Anyway, of course it wasn't the best camera available at the store, but the point of the sale was "Top Shelf" whitout any other available technical information. Also, still you can find Digital8 tapes in stores saying they will provide better colors and auidio on Digital8 cameras vs. regular 8mm video tapes. I guess I don't even have to say the Digital8 is lot more expensive. Is that legal to screw costumer over like this? This is nothing else but intentional missleading (scamming) for higher profit based on taking advantage of the avarege people lack of technical knowledge.
  25. Spot, Can all these claims be true for $36??? http://cgi.ebay.com/0-38-FISHEYE-LENS-FOR-SONY-HC38-HC48-HC5-HC7-UX5-UX7_W0QQitemZ120235462647QQihZ002QQcategoryZ116190QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem They say it's a HD lens. Any info? Way too cheap, but never know... Thanks!
