  1. The way I would look at it is, Which one offers me a job/position after I get out of the Army??? Once a Rigger always a rigger. You can travel the country. Dropzones from the east coast to the west are looking for riggers all the time. It may not pay well, but you never know. An explosives expert, I'm sure pays well, However is there a market for that position??? I'm sure there is some where??? However you should check out everything there is about that job market. Like annual pay and benefits, disability insurance, rate or stress cases associated with the job, career span, etc All I'm saying is the army may only be 4 years of your life so learn something useful to carry you the rest of your life in a job or career! 4. First off read the back of your ticket to see if you can request "Trial by Written Declaration". This can be done in California, I'm not sure about other states. If in fact you can in your state then i suggest you visit the following web site http://www.ticketassassin.com/ and fight your ticket without ever stepping foot in court. I have done it this way for the past 5 years (2 tickets) and have told many friends about this, including Eli from The Flyboys (who claims to have beat 2 tickets) I urge everyone in California to save the web site http://www.ticketassassin.com/ in your favorites and use it the next time you get a ticket. Did you know that if an Aircraft targets you for speeding the Pilot must ID (in court) you as the driver of the car? The Pilot as well as the officer who wrote the ticket must appear in court. 7. Sometimes with this type of spyware/adware it's a program that must be un-installed. Go to your hard drive and open up your Program files folder. look for a folder titled VX2 and open that folder see if there is an icon titled un-install. click on the to run the un-install program for this and it should remove everything. 11. Kris, I know the majority of injuries go unreported, I belong in that majority as I'm sure you do to. Every sport has injuries including a vast number that are unreported I'm talking about fatalities on a yearly basis. skydiving has less fatalities than motorcycles, snowmobile, boating/watercrafts, swimming, scuba diving, cycling, mountain climbing, private aircaft, including leisure and experimental. Heck even the weather has a higher fatality rate. What other sport requires your "Sporting Gear" to be inspected after you purchase it? As far as I know (please correct me if I'm wrong) Scuba tanks must be inspected once a year. But not your regulator. A snowmoblie or motorcycle never has to be checked out, not to mention there are no classes or levels of experience (AFF 1-8) required to operate them. Anyone can buy a 1000 cc motorcycle with no previous experience. The majority of accident/fatalities in skydiving are after the skydiver opens and has a full functioning canopy but fails to land it. Just imagine how low the numbers would be if no one hooked turned or turned to low. Right now skydiving is safer than getting bite by a mosquito (west nile virus) Nick Nick D The key to Immortality is- first living a life worth remembering”
  12. Kris, Yes I feel this is a safe sport.( I'm not talking about volley ball or baseball) When compared to the accidents and fatalities of other sports. See for your self http://www.afn.org/skydive/sta/stats.html scroll down to the bottom of the page for a comparison http://www.ranchskydive.com/safety/tb_article07.htm http://www.studentorg.umd.edu/cpsc/FAQ.html near the bottom of the page: What are the statistics on skydiving fatalities? According to USPA (United States Parachuting Association) in 2000, there were 3,500,000 skydives made with 30 fatalites in the U.S (and the majority of these fatalities are from experienced jumpers being too cocky in their safety). Therefore, the odds of a skydiving fatality is 1 out of 116,666 skydives. For further statistics on the sport of skydiving, check out USPA's Statistics Page. According to the National Safety Council, the odds of a fatality due to a motor vehicle are 1 out of 6,212. This shows that skydiving is 1,878% safer than driving/riding in a vehicle. http://www.annarborflyers.com/public/deathbom.htm see the chart at the bottom of the page As for the Bridge, is it high enough to base jump off of? 13. Skydiving is IMHO the safest sport there is. No other sport requires your gear to be checked by a certified Rigger ever 120 days. http://www.webbikeworld.com/Motorcycle-Safety/crash.htm Per the above website: Single vehicle motorcycle crashes account for about 45 percent of all motorcyclist fatalities. More than 38,000 motorcyclists have died in single vehicle motorcycle crashes between 1975 and 1999 There are Approx. 36,500 active skydivers in the United States. So do the math. And If anyone is wondering I ride a Honda 954 sport bike as well as skydive Nick D The key to Immortality is- first living a life worth remembering”

  17. This thread reminds me of all the Rock stars in the last decade who have O'D' on drugs. It was the late 60's early 70's when Hendrix, Joplin and Morrison showed that being a rock star and doing lots of drugs didn't mix. Yet even today we still have people making it big in Music and doing drugs. Thinking "it can't possible happen to me!" How about people who still don't wear seat belts? Or the ones who continue to drink and drive? Or the young man who buys a 1000cc motorcycle as his first bike, only to die 3 weeks later (I know his Mom) We can coach and talk till we're blue in the face, yet some where at some time it's going to happen again. I for one would like to see some changes made. Nick Nick D The key to Immortality is- first living a life worth remembering”

  21. Read here... http://www.nineplanets.org/luna.html " As the Moon orbits around the Earth once per month, the angle between the Earth, the Moon and the Sun changes; we see this as the cycle of the Moon's phases. The time between successive new moons is 29.5 days (709 hours), slightly different from the Moon's orbital period (measured against the stars) since the Earth moves a significant distance in its orbit around the Sun in that time. The asymmetric nature of this gravitational interaction is also responsible for the fact that the Moon rotates synchronously, i.e. it is locked in phase with its orbit so that the same side is always facing toward the Earth. 22. Very interesting I have read all of the post and haven't seen it mentioned yet. To the best of my knowledge we landed (each time)on the backside of the moon. So that the LEM and Astronauts wouldn't be in the direct sunlight and any radiation from the sun. The Astronauts set up lights and used flashes/strobes to take the pictures. This helps in explaining different light sources, shadows and the way the surface fades off in the background of some photos. You will never see the base of the LEM's or the rover (still there) or the US Flag for that matter though a telescope as they are all on the back side of the moon The one question that comes to mind is Why the moon does not rotate on it's own axis. It rotates around Earth, however it doesn't spin as Earth does. Nick Nick D The key to Immortality is- first living a life worth remembering”

  24. I for one can't wait for it to happen. In fact I hope it's an 8.5 or bigger. Why you ask? Because I'm hoping a few million people will pack up and leave this state for another state or the country they originally came from. We will have less traffic a larger gas supply affordable homes more jobs less air traffic The list goes on..... Nick Nick D The key to Immortality is- first living a life worth remembering”
