  1. ME!!!!!!!!! I couldn t even read the rezt of the r4esponses but i know my answetr is yeeees
  2. In Ohio??? That's as bad as Kansas. I don't think so! And I am 22 as kansasskydiver mentioned :)
  3. Good advice, that's exactly the way my dad works. I try not to throw it in his face and rather to explain its not as risky as it may seem at first. I did mention the reserve but there is still a lot of info I need to provide him with so that he has a better understanding. My dad is a lot like me and you know how much I was always questioning stuff and wanting answers from you when I first started. Have you met my Dad, Chris? Man, you're right again. He can't wait for me to go to sturgis with him and to start riding but when I mentioned to him that one of my friends might teach me he got a little nervous about that. He doesn't like me riding on bikes with any of my guy friends really. He also would love for me to learn how to fly but thats b/c he's a pilot and could be right there with me. ***It's hard to say, but I also know you are NOT the type of person who likes to be told what you should, can or can not do... Well, there are certain circumstances where this applies. I will listen to just about anything an instructor tells me to do or not do out at the dz. Heck I usually am trying to get two or three instructors to tell me how to do things just to hear it again. Away from the dz if I am being told what to do, however, then I am sure you are use to the whole, "You are not my dad, don't tell me what to do" comment. My dad is the one person who never has to worry about me saying this though. He can tell me what to do but usually tries not to since I am 22 now.
  4. Nick- Thank you very much for the websites. They were all interesting and quite informative. I am sure I will be able to share some of the info with my dad to help ease his mind. He's a very intellectual, by the books type (a Judge by occupation) and likes solid facts and lots of information.
  5. Unfortunately, I cannot offer any advice. I can say, however, that I feel your pain! I have a line of bruises on my thighs from the straps after jumping this weekend. It's quite painful and spoils what should be an awesome canopy ride down. I have tried everything like pulling the risers, tightening the straps, etc. I have talked to instructors and been told it will probably only get better when I get my own rig. :(
  6. Is there a reason you don't pay for your car and cell phone? My dad just started paying for those things in high school and he has just continued to pay for it as long as I am in college. I have always had at least one job and usually two or three while going to school so I do my share. (I am a GTA now and have another job.) In a year and a half when I am done with grad school I will be on my own though even if I go to law school which I have thought about. My dad is cool enough that he wouldn't threaten me like that. Honestly he will come around. If I were worried about it though, yes, I would start paying for those things.
  7. The university pays for school and rent, Dad pays for car and cell phone. My parents live 3 hours away.
  8. The first time I went skydiving I told my dad and he wasn't too excited about it. He asked me to never do it again. About 6 months later I couldn't help it, I started jumping again. I am now on my 19th jump and finally told him yesterday that I have been skydiving again. He said, "okay twice is enough already!" "Umm I've jumped 19 times Dad and it's still not enough." After a long silence in which I thought my Dad might lose it, he says "if you have to do something like that try something safer like motorcycle riding" and then offered to pay for a motorcycle class so I would stop jumping. He really wants me to stop but of course I can't. He'll come around I am sure. Anyone else have problems with their parents worrying? (Funny thing is my mom is fine with it.) Also, motorcycle riding can't be safer, right??
  9. Like me! I won't be jumping but I'll be there! I hear it's a good time either way. Hopefully, I'll be able to jump next year though.
  10. I have to stick to Corn Flakes and Rice Krispies. The only two wheat-free cereals! Being allergic to wheat sucks!
