  1. you know what they say about politicisns... FEED 'EM TO THE SHARKS ... O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  2. i always thought of it as a smiley with a handle... one that you can pick up and carry with you... O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  3. oh, the endless work hours i waste doing stupid things people on dz.com ask me to anyway , turns out i'm a shark... is that good ? do i really care ? O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  4. good question... lets check the cost effective angle... which costs more to get ? depends on the girl which lasts longer ? depends on the guy with exceptions , ofcourse... O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  5. since you've asked about the colors, i won't get into the buy new/used debate... black/blue is a nice base combo, but i think it will look much better if you add another color for contrast ,(something bright and shiney...) almost anything will look great with the black, just see what looks good with the blue. its a matter of personal taste. good luck
  6. nice analogy, but from what i've learned, if the container is opened and the bag is out, its a baglock and no longer a pc in tow. will i be able to know ? unlike the poor cat, this mess is on my back, not locked in a lead box, so i hope i'll feel it. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  7. we can (and do) debate on the action needed when we have PC in tow. i just don't like the argument of "one procedure is easier remembered" there are malfunctions that requires pulling the reserve and not cutaway first (like hard pull, or handle missing). i go with: if the container was opened --> chop if not (including pc in tow, cant find the damn handle etc.)--> pull silver. O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  8. and to attack it on a different angle (that might effect a self centered instructor) i , as a skydiver, remember very well how each and every instructor (and other veterans) treated me as a new guy and as a new skydiver. personally i didnt have any problems with my instructors (i'm a very loveable guy ), but when i take a coached jump, naturally i'll remember who "went the extra mile" and was personal as well as professional... O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  9. which part isnt clear? capoeira started as a way slaves used to practice martial arts when they werent allowed to (so they pretended they were dancing.) its cool and gives you a great work out... look for a PS2 close to you and try playing with Cristie Monteiro... why is it good for skydiving? i guess from the same reasons yoga is, it gives you better control of your body and everything feels more natural. O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  10. dialed it a few times but mostly answered it on the other side, when i was a volunteer firefighter when i was young and energetic.... nothing like the rush of grabbing your gear and jumping on the fire truck... O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  11. didn't someone say that the only way of being a DZO and have some money was to start off with a hell lot more money ? ... anyway, i think i'll fulfill my dream of an expendable chute... but instead of inventing a cheap rig that you simply jump and throw, i'll do it with normal rigs... and yes, you can all pick up the ones i throw me, you , and the manufactures, will all be happy O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  12. a lot of people that were in a car accident (even if it wasnt their fault) , never drive again. or at least try to avoid driving. i guess its a simple fact that "normal" people tend to stop doing something that has almost killed them. now, question is, are we "normal" people ? "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  13. with 150 million in the bank, i don't think size really matters anymore... O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  14. that's what lunch brakes are for... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

    get a life...

haven't been here for a few days and now i have to read 400 new posts and almost 10,000 replies... don't you people have anything better to do ?? no? well neither do i here is new post #401 ... O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  16. I remember hearing this story from my rigger (if i remember correctly, he'd repacked their reserves after it happened.) it kept me wondering for awhile... noone is safe, must stay sharp always. i have a cypress, if it fired , i did something very wrong. if i'd done something very wrong, i'm happy that its there to fire. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  17. tough question that i hope will never be answered. i haven't had any serious mal yet (and i list "not noticing the ground coming straight at you", as a serious mal...), and i honestly can't say how it will effect me and me skydiving. i want to believe i'll go back up after i calm down. but post traumatic reactions are not always predictable. O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

    AAD?

some DZs require it, including mine. but i think i'd get one anyway. better spend the $$ on a cypress instead of on a tomb stone... O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  19. there are many many ways of doing it. or as someone once told me "it will most likely work even if you just stuff it in". but dont, we dont like "most likely" here... i just asked someone to show me while packing, its the best way. or simply spy on someone packing. O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  20. i agree, but there are those days that NOTHING will go right. i'd go back in the following weekend (if i could), not wait a few weeks... what did the jm (and who was it btw)tell you in the debrief ? these guys usually know best. hope to meet you on the ground, after AFF5 in two weeks ... from one Ori to another... O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  21. i've bought a pro-dytter a few weeks ago from the same reasons. pro-track is very cool , (but had to buy a helmet too) but i'm very happy with my pro-dytter. O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  22. damn , got here too late ... well, i'd go with #2 also, but i agree that changing the logo color might be a good idea. cheers ! O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  23. i don't remember being nervous before the actual jump, but i definitely remember a few times i almost did a U-turn instead of a left turn on the way to the Dz... so, yes, its very normal. i think it was gone somewhere between jump 15 and 20. now i just hate waking up early, but once i'm in my car, its full speed ahead "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  24. he he, be nice my first 3 were really good, then came 2 awful (took a coached jump and was too busy looking for him). we'll see tomorrow how it goes "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  25. anything that qualifies as looking "funny" should be grounded and get checked by a rigger. could be nothing or could be the beginning of the end . get it checked
