i think there were 10 of us... attempting a "speedstar" i guess would be the best term for it, each person do a front flip on exit. I was first out, and the rest would make their way to me, well, i dropped frast, and had a backtrack going, so they all tried to catch me. instead of seeing one person at a time to connect to, i saw about 3 coming in at the same level, got a bit confused, saw one, started to go for that person, then realized it was the cameraman. haha. had some bumps and such, then broke off.. was a memerable/fun skydive. thanks to Elsinore's Excell that made it possible. why.. because it is good stress relief/relaxation for me. for instance.. couple days ago, i f#$#D up at word, and will be getting fired within the next week/2. so, first thing that came to mind when i was upset at myself for this.. "shit i need to go skydive!" and don't have the money to go right now, but i am going on friday for stress relief. oh, not to mention the 'family' the people in this sport are the best. ignore everyone on here except for the part about relaxing. Talk to your instructors, they know if you are ready or not. they will debrief you on what to do and how to do it. they will give you the best advice you need for that particular jump. CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #720

How can you survive a skydiving accident?
shermanator replied to bloody_trauma's topic in The Bonfire
when i read the title, i thought it meant accident as in deficating in ones pants. hahaha.. I have heard an urban leagand of a guy who survived freefall hitting snow, in one of the wars, walked away with no injuries.. anyone know the truth in that? CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #720 -
Ninjas.. especially If they are turtles that got mixed up in some toxic goo and became lifelike, then were taught their ninja skills by a rat! after the week that led to and the day of june24 *pirates world premier at disneyland* I despise pirates!! CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #720

speculation, but still something to think about. I've never worn a full face, i like the wind in my face feeling, its part of the relaxation for me. oh what fun it is when i pop my goggles on top of my helmet and forget them there! .. *why do i feel so much wind in my eyes? ... ohhhhhh* CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #720

Ball park cost of a packing class?
shermanator replied to AEsco48's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i think i paid $60, which was for 8 hours, gear rental and instruction.. I wasnt complaining, because i feel i was well taught, rather than some others i know who were shown to just do a trashpack. *not dissing trashpack, but don't condone it as a only way f knowing to pack* Though it was paid for 8 hours.. i got a lot more instruction the next couple of times i was out, until my 'mentor' felt i was capable. i appreciated his continued help, and everyone on the packing matt who also gave advice free. What altitude do you remove your seatbelt?
shermanator replied to salling772's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
seatbelts come off at 1k where i jump. as for my helmet, i generally hook it to my cheststrap, but will most likely be reconsidering that approach the next time i am out at the dz. for myself, after 1k, i am looking out at the terrain, thinking about the 'what if' and look at my reserv ripcord and dtell myself, if have to bail, pull that one now. then when get about 2.5k, do a ep practice.. feel main, cutaway, then reserve. works for me. ... why use reserve to about 2.5ish.. I will be jumping a safire2, which has a long swivel... I don't want to be riding my swivel down, so until i pack better, and shorten that swivel, i'd rather be safer than realize it aint opening too late. CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #720 -

i used to do legstraps first too, but then kept forgetting the chestrap too many times, or routing it wrong, so i now to chest first, then legs. ... hey, after emberassing myself in front of st&a and several other intructors, then getting a nice 'talking' i figure i should take thier advice on that one. haha. get additional help from people on the dropzone. i find it sad that the packing class didnt leave you feeling confident with knowing how to pack. when i took mine, my 'teacher' made sure i was fully compitant in packing for myself.. not the best packjob, but had the right idea, and could get it in the bag and such. then i had others see me packing, and give some pointers when they saw me struggling into the bag. bring beer, and get help. hands on will be much more usefull than a video can provide. Retired from AFF ..anyone else?
shermanator replied to Sky15's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Have you considered this as an option... I know you can't take the leg/shoulder grips, but what about still doing coaching jumps, teaching the FJC. Just becasue you cannot do the AFF,does not mean that you cannot still be a teacher. There are many young jumpers out there, me included, who greatly appreciate when an experienced diver jumps with us, and gives pointers that help improve.
