  1. Are you really proposing we appease Muslim extremists by refusing to elect female leaders? So much for making America a world leader. - Dan G
  2. I'm not sure I agree with your analysis. If you use he standard risk analysis methodology, you need to look at the two aspects of risk: likelihood, and consequences. With a Trump or Sanders presidency, you assign the likelihood of them getting their agendas passed as low. The concern I have is that the consequences would be very dear. With a low likelihood but high consequences, the risk is still significant. With Clinton or Rubio presidency, the likelihood and consequences are both moderate (IMO). The risk is still significant, but the downsides are reduced. Personally I'm more comfortable with the higher potential for the country to slide downhill a little than I am with the lower potential for the country to fall off a cliff. - Dan G
  3. We must fight them over there so we won't have to fight them here. Or something like that. - Dan G
  4. If Donald Trump is not part of the American elite, I don't know who is. I guess when you say elite, you really just mean wealthy, educated, liberals. - Dan G
  5. Right, so electing a billionaire real estate developer will keep the elite out of power? - Dan G
  6. Me four. He really blew it with the Palin choice. - Dan G
  7. I don't recall anyone saying Romney was batshit crazy. And you do realize you are the pot calling the kettle black, right? - Dan G
  8. The reason I don't vote in the primaries is because I don't identify strongly with either party. In my opinion the parties should be paying for and running their own primaries, if that's what they want. These elections should be private affairs and the government shouldn't be involved. If another group of people wants to get together and nominate someone else, they should also do that without government involvement. Then, each group of like minded people just have to submit enough signatures to get their candidate on the official ballot. I always vote in official elections (at least the national one, I sometimes skip the locals), but I don't really care what one corporate entity (RNC) and another corporate entity (DNC) decide at this point. - Dan G
  9. But Trump's even worse. He lies about everything. The idea that he "tells it like it is" is a complete load of shit. He says whatever he thinks sounds good in the moment, and when gets called on his lies, he just makes up more lies. I disagree. I think Trump could be disastrous. I think under Clinton it would be business as usual. Not that business as usual is good, but it would be better than what Trump might do. Maybe. Or future candidates will realize that the way to win is act like Trump. - Dan G
  10. What definition of psychopathic behavior are you using? - Dan G
  11. I'm asking turtle. And, "she's evil," is not really much of an answer. In what way do you think her evil manifests itself? What to do mean be evil? I know you're not a religious person, so you can't mean that she is the opposite of holy. "She's evil," is a soundbite. I'm trying to figure out why people hate her so much that they would rather see Trump as President. For me, I think she's insincere, selfish, dishonest, and polarizing. But she's not stupid, and I don't think she's evil (as in actively wishes harm to her fellow man). I'm sure she wishes harm to a great many people, but not to everyone just for harm's sake. Trump, on the other hand, appears to be at least sociopathic, if not downright psychopathic. I think all that matters to him is his personal success, and he'll do anything, including starting nuclear wars, to achieve it. - Dan G
  12. I've been to Kentucky. Nothing would surprise me. - Dan G
  13. Shit. Here in the South we don't settle for step-sisters. We want the real thing! - Dan G
  14. What is it about Hillary that you hate so much? She's a liar: Trump is too. She's sleazy: Trump is too. She's a Democrat: no one knows what Trump stands for. I don't like Hillary, but at least she's not a complete fool. - Dan G
  15. The parties have made this system the way it is to help frontrunners consolidate early. The Republicans actually changed their rules after Romney was dragged into a prolonged primary fight. Those new rules will make it even harder to fight Trump. - Dan G

  17. Isn't that what his monthly connection fee should be going towards? - Dan G
  18. Your history is rusty. Parties change and realign. Reconstruction Republicans aren't the same as modern Republicans. - Dan G
  19. Maybe you should ask your Congressman. During the first two years Obama spent all the political capital he had trying to get healthcare reform passed. In hindsight he made the mistake of including Republicans in negotiations. He should have just shoved everything down their throats, but he didn't. I'm sure if he had it to do over again, he would have passed a minimum wage increase, closed Gitmo, and imposed socialized medicine. But he didn't. BTW, I'm not of the opinion that a minimum wage increase will solve all our problems like TK is. I'm just trying to explain the political realities. - Dan G
  20. Regardless of what your media sources tell you (NPR and MSNBC, yeah right) Obama is not a dictator. To increase the minimum wage nationwide Congress needs to pass a law. You know, because Constitution. Obama did raise the minimum wage paid to federal contract workers through Executive Order. Happy? - Dan G
  21. I'm missing it. Source, please. - Dan G
  22. If you really believed that you wouldn't be so upset about Obama being president now. - Dan G
  23. Just thought I'd pass along this article about how your two favorite candidates' tax plans would ruin America. Yes, I know it is from the Washington Post, but they are quoting a non-partisan tax policy think tank. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2016/02/16/cruz-tax-plan-would-cost-8-6-trillion-second-only-to-trump/ - Dan G
