  1. Correct, and that's exactly what it did at both WWL and the qualifyer in Norway (where it took #1,3 and 50% of all top scores). But Nathan switched to the Vampire SU in China for fun, and to our own ('our' being PF) surprise actually saw his times go down by almost half a second. We knew the V-SU was fast, but mostly had it aimed at proximity flying/base, and not racing. But the good results in China showed the V-SU was on par with speed with the Arrow, yet with better starts / glide in comparison to the slightly steeper angle of attack of the Arrow. Which is actually why the SUKHOI is retiring the Arrow from the product line. As it has all the same results as the (more 'niche market' racing product) arrow, yet with a lot of added/better characteristics in agility, glide and starts. Which is what it does. And when it comes to PPC style jumping, the venom is still the choice in the PF line when it comes to glide and hangtime (on time the V-SU is slightly steeper in trim). As stated on the SU page "the Vampire SU is currently the fastest and most agile terrain flying suit in the PF range" which is exactly what it is, and what it was aiming to be. On all other aspects it also does incredibly well. But for sure, other suits in the product line have their own aim and target. The SU (for me) is replacing the Venom Power I've had as my main suit for BASE the last few seasons. But PPC competitions, the Venom Power is still my main weapon (If I can focus long enough to actually fly a straight line) and skydiving with all the carvy, swoopy, docky stuff Im hanging around in the Carve and Shadow, as that's where most fun is to be had for acrobatics. The hunter will slot into the product line right in between those two, being a very comfortable all-rounder. Mixing big suit and acrobatic characteristics.   2. We're currently working on several showcase videos of various suits, which should be up on the site December and January. Taking the time to develop the suits to the best of their flying abilities, the marketing will always lag behind a bit. Anyone wanting information can get basic information on any suit from the website and for those wanting more specific info and images, direct contact with any of the sales reps or people from PF directly can get you all additional info you might want. Coming December Xmas we have some Need4Speed awesomeness in the works in the form of moving pixels with two big skydiving base projects (both finished shooting, currently in the editing phase) which will show a lot more of the Vampire SU and Havok and Hunter.   5. The silver on the old birdman suits was more like a rubbery silverpaint coating on F111. Some of the newer fabrics used by various manufacturers now looks more like actual tinfoil/alluminium.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. The silver seen on Douggs suit was a heavy coated parapak. But the last few years PF has been using a silver UltraLight fabric for its team suits, thats also available to customers. See picture It looks incredible in flight when the sunlight hits it. See picture JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  8. Thats actually not what the issue is. The problem is the zipper riding through the sliders when bending, creating a big hole. Even with a set distance on both zippers, the actual suit rides through them when bending forward. The only way to solve this problem, is by actually sewing the bottom zipper in place (once at the set distance for your rig). But all 'solutions' that just lock zippers in place, relative to eachother, doesnt really fix anything. On big suits, checking before exit is a way. Though far from ideal. But on any suit where one does any kind of acrobatics, rolls or other moves that lead to bending or twisting of bodies, the innie-outie system is a big risk. As I see a lot in the plane at various DZs as well, and what happens after exit nobody controls. On smaller suits, the system is also of no real use. Ideally we'd go back to the full cable system, but sadly this is not something anyone would be interested in due to the added rigging time.   9. wow...thats an incredibly high price...we managed to run a multiplane (high experience) world record bigway here at 25,00 per jump or 15.000 ft jumps, and the margin on that included all slots, airplane ferry flights, dayfee, food and travel expenses for the organizers without any additional overcharge or registration fee for the participants.   11. The 33 and 42 way EU/World Records flown in Belgium do fit the current IPC grid, and have been approved a such by the present FAI judges. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. You can sort wingsuits per suit. But seeing as every event has different wind conditions, its hard to impossible to draw any proper comparison between events. Even looking at the same pilots, in the same suit, at different events, the top speeds and glide vary over 100 km/h /1.5 in glide. Look at the competitions like swooping. Gear is a huge factor, but in the end its the individual pilots who make the actual scores happen (together with a healthy dose of wind, but every person in the same competition/event has those conditions).   13. One of the best things to do, is get a teammate. It can be an absolute beginner or advanced jumper, but rest assured you'll both get eachothers skill level up. After you pick a ridiculous teamname, having a teammate to train with, you'll learn to fly a consistent tempo, you will have a reference, and you can both work on repeat jumps, updating skill and perfecting moves. Something much harder to do with changing jump-buddies. Im now at 3500 wingsuit jumps, and the phantom (or in my case, shadow) is still my favorite suit for acrobatics, and also the suit you'll see our team fly at the competition this year. Though suits like the Havok have a big edge in performance, the slightly more agile frame of the Phantom/Shadow allows for transitions that are just a tad cleaner and faster. The Pilot database mentioned above has a downloadable pdf that has a good step by step guide from basics to more advanced stuff, granted to keep you busy for a good quadruple dozen jumps. And http://www.wingsuitcompetition.com/divepool.php also is a nice source for 'things to train' of course. Important especially is to work on skills from the basics. I see a lot of people doing carving things or other advanced stuff, but having problems with certain moves/energy management. And often these problems are hard to fix, as they lie in the basics of their transitions, backflying etc. And they went into the faster and more agressive stuff, before properly mastering the basics. So take it step by step, enjoy every jump. Acrobatics are more than just 'doing flippy stuff' as also for performance flying, speed, angle, and base (recovery, agility, flat turns, energy management) its THE best basis one can have, vs spending whole jumps 'planking' to focus on performance. Having a good time is the main key, and if you stick to acro, the skills will soar almost automatic... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  15. Our testing crew took the new Arrow to the WWL qualifications in Norway 2 weeks ago and (most of us with only 1 or 2 jumps on the suit) out of the top 16, 8 PF pilots where flying the arrow. Including the first and 3rd place. Its a fast suit....sleek and optimized for high speed and low drag. The suit has a good start, and is quite maneuverable. It has a slightly steeper trim. But many confuse this with 'steep angle suit' where flattening the suit out, there is still plenty of flare, and I've (since WWL) even managed to do an XRW jump with it. The suit will fly anywhere within a normal max glide angle, and steep/diving angle. But its most fun at around 1.6 to 2 glide ratios, where the suit goes balistic in speed. Not a lot of footage out there yet, as its not out there for official release (though those eager to order, we will be able to cater to ones needs).   17. Break it down into smaller groups. Have 1 canopy, with max 2 wingsuits to prevent traffic issues. Don't throw whole groups at a cloud of canopies As to the setup, plenty of methods and all can be made to work. That's just a matter of practice. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. 42 FAI World Record - Video This record was set in 3 jumps, with a crew of very experienced wingsuit pilots from all over the world. The day before we did 6 jumps, and initially set a 33 way World Record as well, passed the next day by this one. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. We've got a crew of french groundskimming trackers that have been testing the suit the last 6 months, with tweaks and design input based on their flying. We have arrived at a model which we see as 'final', so we're now in processof last checks/testing before we go live. Pix and video will follow in the coming 1,5 month.   22. Im coming up on 3000 wingsuit jumps on storm canopies without a single cutaway or any situation thats even close. That includes one Storm canopy with over 2000 jumps on a single lineset. I would not recommend anything else personally. Packing and opening skills may vary PD is not advertising a new canopy before they finish the intensive (sometimes spanning more than one year) testing process. But they seem in the final stages of testing the new wingsuit beasty, so for sure more information will be coming out on that soon. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. It's weird you got recommended to put it over the bootie, as thats not an advice I've ever heard him give anyone else (before or after you lost it). Its been designed for use under the bootie, and has never been meant or used otherwise? Unless you have perhaps have emails that say otherwise, as I distinctly remember us both having a laugh back then at you using it over your wingsuit? The cutaway on the bigger foot bracket was meant only for under canopy use. Not for 'cutaway in freefall' The newer bracket he sells (which I designed) is possible to wear on the ankle, vs foot, and with a simple cord can be rigged to cutaway even when used under a suit. but the best option is to actually rig a cutaway on the smoke-can vs the bracket.   24. Just work on having the first one or two out (after avoiding the tail with proper exits) fly their suits, so there isnt much altitude loss, and the remaining two can just one by one exit. Putting 4 people outside on a small plane like that, you risk putting the whole plane in a big turn/dive sideways, as you're putting 350 to 400 kg (or 600kg if its a US related question) on one side of the plane. Not the best scenario. Just do a nice 2 way exit, and launch the remaining two in orderly fashion from inside, and fly your body.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. In both cases Id recommend a small wingsuit for a good 100 to 250 jumps before (if one even has to) upsize. 201 or 5000 jumps doesn't make any change in that recommendation for me.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
