  1. The best start is a good background in body flying skills. Be it FS or Freefly, control is of bigger importance than performance. After that any intermediate suit, suitable for beginners, from the various manufacturers will serve you a long time. At 3000 ws jumps the PF shadow and phantom are the suits I keep coming back to. But untill the time you have the experience to fly those, skills are the main gear worth investing in... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. Watch the other links posted. He isnt the only one. And some normal freefall transfers without drogue have also been done. But Degayardon was the original pimp-meister, no doubt about it! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. And thats coming from a guy who usually avoids performance competitions, due to inability to fly a suit in a straight line with carving, backflying or doing flippy stuff for longer than 30 seconds... We've got a great stage set for performance flying at FAI....hope we use it wisely... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. We finaly have a format in IPC/FAI without (though some did try) the usual politics and disagreements and loads and loads of bickering and fighting, with a tried and tested format and judging tools. In my oppinion, having the first attempt at judging instantly turn into fights and trying to change things is in no way in service of what a lot if people have been trying to do. By all means, work on alternatives and test them for a few years. But does the first world cup/judges training etc really need instant fights and disagreements...can't that (for once) put the community center stage, and promote and condone that which was fought and worked hard for without instant conflict? 5. With FAI judges being trained on paralog, that seems to be the official FAI judging system by which officials can't deviate. Any particular reason to want to deviate from that? Also as various different software used for readout could mean FAI records set are actually interpreted different, hence making comparison impossible. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. Shadow, no doubt! Performance, agility and king on flocking, base and acrobatics, belly, back or headdown... http://youtu.be/jEJYP7ZwPQE JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. The suit has had a lot of subtle updates from an aerodynamics pov, resulting in better low drag characteristics. Meaning sharper handling, and (be it subtle) an increase in performance, without doing so with a 'bigger is better' type of mindset. That said, both the older havok and the new carve are killer suits for acrobatics and backflying. Here's a nice all Havok flock (mixed Carve and 'classic' Havoks) Youtube JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. We're currently extensively testing both suits, internally within our team, as well as externally using talented body pilots (trackers and ws flyers) in skydive and base. We've been further refining low drag characteristics and speed/glide performance on both. More info and pix soon. Super excited.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

    PF Fins

I mostly notice a (huge) difference on aggressive flying with very steep/banking turns/carves. Which I prefer over static 'planking' for a whole skydive. If by some miracle I am doing skydives with just straight line flying, I often fly without, as its just easier to not stab someone in the kidneys with them during the airplane part. But on performance runs the fins also make it noticeably easier to keep the suit flying smooth and straight.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. Correct...it being world championships, the only class is the highest one. Though at non world-championships, of course beginner/intermediate/rookie class is still possible. Or even alongside an official world cup. But the FAI only looks at the top level competitors for the actual official competition/records in both acrobatic and performance. On the question regarding the performance competition, Ill let Klaus know (so he can answer that question here). Best to always consult the actual people who know their stuff JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. Both positions are equally stable for pulling. But in case of screwups (asymmetry) the full-flight position can spell horror (due to the forward vector) where the 'student' position will just keep falling straight down, at worse with a slight turn left or right. 13. USPA today also recognised performance and acrobatic wingsuit competition as official diciplines. With this step, an amazing journey is coming to completion. Many, many years ago several friends had ideas on promoting wingsuit flying, and inspiring people to work on their flying skills through acrobatic manouvers, and performance flying. Costyn Van Dongen, Klaus Rheinwald and myself had a lot of fun coming up with ideas. From that point, Klaus developed the performance competition format (PPC) and we developed the Acrobatic Wingsuit Competition. In total, a combined number of over 50 competitions in Acrobatic and Performance have been organized, as both national and international editions. From Europe to Australia to USA and back. An amazing number of participants helped build the idea, by feedback and flying, into an amazing and inspiring format that is now helping many people train and fly their wingsuits better then ever. Over the course of the years, many people have helped make these formats to what it is, and helped it grow. But the crown jewel has got to be this years FAI acceptance (with help of Ronald Overdijk, Henny Wiggers, and most of all, the efforts of Zach Schroedel and James Hayhurst. For those interested, the rules can be found on the FAI/IPC website for download (USPA labeled versions of course coming soon as well) http://www.fai.org/downloads/ipc/SC5_CR_Wingsuit_AcrobaticFlying http://www.fai.org/downloads/ipc/SC5_CR_Wingsuit_performance_flying And if you're looking for a challenge, join one of these two amazing competitions and help build and support this amazing sport! Thank you all! Happy flying! https://www.facebook.com/events/776523132414122/ https://www.facebook.com/events/1516630568620644/ JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. The rubber/curved flatlock adapter. Do you know which one fits the fuel helmet curvature best? As I see there is a MXV, ROK, OZONE, GAS and ATOMIC version? My guess would be the MXV version in te size of the helmet, but advice appreachiated? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. Im using a Cookie Fuel (chincup/cutaway), and am looking for topmount options on a normal (small DSLR/mirrorless) camera. Has anyone used the Flatlock Pro and FlatLock Adapter with the helmet? Ive seen those used on a G3 (for those keen to jump a fullface with heavy cameras and no cutaway), but anyone have pictures/experiences of the Flatlock combined with a Fuel? 16. With key members of the USPA being involved in the initial push and acceptance for IPC/FAI I think a lot of people incorrectly assume this isnt already in the works, or somehow not supported. For everyone involved in making this a reality, the people within USPA helping, supporting and promoting these two disciplines at IPC/FAI have been nothing but supportive, showcasing a big understanding, care and integrity towards for these two formats.. I think a bit of patience is all thats needed, to let the people who did a lot if great work so far also do things the right way within your own organisation. Don't let votes, petitions be more than a tool to show support. Don't turn the positive momentum into a negative vibe. The right people are involved and working hard, the 'official way' isnt always one to protest, fight or force outside the intended path..have faith..this is happening and its happening with the right steps, speed and support. 17. Also sure you guys will come up with a better name for the new Ghost shortly after its released Everybody happy! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. For Lawsuits on product naming, please contact our weapons officer in our Albanian office. Though apparently we don't answer emails anyways..so not sure how they'd even get in touch... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. Guess we dodged a bullet with the initial name huh... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. Though it needed some google to find out what the TV show was, their title is a single word, vs two seperate ones. And a common enough term and different market to not be an issue. The various gear names such as xwing, leia, sabre etc never seemed to have much trouble, though linked to bigger franchises. Would have more expected messages about copyright in other posts on various wingsuit designs.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. Correct..with similar updates from Havok to Havok Carve, the new Ghost Hunter is planned for the coming month. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. Sorry guys..it indeed took 2 days more due to some basejumping travels on my side. Though invoicing already was with the new prices, the website now also reflects the price-change. Enjoy! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
