  1. Call it tough love, crash. The last thing I want is to see anyone get hurt, and I post the way I do in the hopes to inject some common sense into people who I consider are making bad decisions. Marko is obviously making bad decisions - he induced spinning linetwists into his fully functioning canopy at a low altitude. That's only one thing he did wrong. Look at how long it takes him to get his hands into his toggles, not to mention he is steering his canopy with only 2 fingers in his toggles. Lose a toggle on landing and it would be bad news. He did a multitude of things wrong, and is seriously lucky that he is alive. That is NOT an understatement. I've watched a close friend get fucked up and come within inches of death. I don't want to see it happen again, especially when it can be prevented beforehand. Call me an a-hole or whatever you want. When you see someone get fucked up or die, you will understand that it's the little things that do count in this sport.
  2. Will NEVER happen. In his eyes, he survived a malfunction and now figures "hey, what the hell.. I had to cutaway and I did". Too bad the malfunction was his own friggin' fault! If anything he'll probably want to downsize again. Oh well..
  3. He also had video of a chaotic 7 way freefly jump.. with basically noone in frame the whole time. Got some crap about it in the freefly forum and ended up removing it. Cutaway video was as scary, if not worse than the big way clusterfuck of a freefly jump. He'll learn sooner or later.
  4. I'm not a rigger so take my opinion for what it's worth... The pictures aren't that great, and as said before, don't really show the entire picture. I will say, though, that the wrinkles and whatnot seem like a common occurance on any rig. I highly doubt that they are anything to worry about. Same goes for the bottom of the pack tray. Looks normal to me. My opinion is based on being a packer and seeing lots of different rigs. There is no "perfect" looking packjob. You could have an identical rig, identical reserve and identical packjob and it could still look different. I guess I would say.. a rigger has to do a lot to get that ticket. They wouldn't have gotten it if for any reason, someone thought that they weren't worthy of saving someone's life. I agree with the previous posted who said that you should 1.) get it repacked if you feel uncomfortable and 2.) address your concerns to the rigger who packed your reserve. Good luck!

    Cash Cab

I imagined that they probably didn't give them the 'cash' at the end of the show. You always see the disclaimers on game shows "Contestents must meet the requirements before getting the prize" type deals. In laymen's terms, if you can't pay the taxes, you walk away with nothing but your 15 minutes of fame. Still an interesting concept and a pretty cool tv show, though.
  6. As if it were meant to be, I just stumbled across some NyQuil that I totally didn't know I had. I hope it works.. but hate thinking that it's not going to help at all. We'll see..
  7. Wow, so much for Wikipedia. That was a way better explanation. What brand (or however it is sold) do you use? I wonder if melatonin is an active ingredient in some of the prescription sleepy pills out there.. would be interested to know!
  8. This video was forwarded to our DZ email list today. I hope that cat shits in the owners mouth while he sleeps. Totally not cool at all.
  9. Me!! Well, not drinking any more. I'm priviledged to have two friends that work at different establishments that both serve alcohol. It's not always a good combo - free booze has it's drawbacks, believe it or not! A few beers and a couple of shots tonight. Still isn't helping my sleeplessness, unfortunately.
  10. Ahh!! All out of both. I've had a few beers as well as a shot tonight, so no reason why I can't manage some zzzz's.
  11. This has to have happened before, probably to a rigger that either had a bunch of rigs that needed re-packs, or just a bunch of gear that he/she has accumulated. Maybe someone will see the post and offer their advice. Wish I had more to offer - best of luck to your friend!

    Dry Socket

That sucks, man. They preached salt water rinsing to help keep the sockets hydrated. It's worth a shot.. I'm sure the pain really blows. Good luck with that.
  13. Just looked that up on Wikipedia.. interesting, but they actually didn't mention anything about it helping sleep disorders. Besides, I hate taking anything. Maybe I need it, though! As much as I love to sleep, there are times where it is so hard to actually get there.
  14. Ugh, the dreaded Triple Whopper. It's either an accomplishment or a few days worth of guilt, depending on how you look at it, after polishing off one of those. I'll never forget the scene in SuperSize Me, the documentary about a dude who eats nothing but Mickey D's for 30 days, where after trying to finish a double quarter pounder with cheese meal, totally yaks up the whole meal while still sitting in the parking lot. I think about it every time I'm contemplating buying fast food. My stomach gets the best of me sometimes, but I have turned around and gone elsewhere on a few occasions.
  15. Ugh, I wish it were that easy. I hate nights like this. I could lay down for hours and just think and think and think.. It's pretty frustrating.
  16. I guess I got lucky. I used one of those travel sites - actually, I'm pretty sure it was Travelocity. Everything was as promised and in my eyes, I got a pretty good bargain. On the other hand, I didn't have to do any cancelling or really have any contact with them at all, so I guess that may have something to do with the pleasant experience. My hotel did have some issues, though! That's a whole other story..

    Dry Socket

I also got the threat from the dentist about not smoking, as well as avoiding drinking straws, after I got my wisdom teeth out. I didn't get dry sockets, but geez, I was down for the count for a solid 3 days after getting those suckers pulled. God, it was, up to this point, the most miserable thing I had to go through. Before I got it done I heard that everyone's experience is different. I happened to be in the percentage of people who got screwed..
  18. Been there, done that.. I need some real home remedies that will help me to get some much needed sleep.

    Cash Cab

I really dig this show. Having a little bit of reality show experience myself, I always wonder how much of this show is true randomness, or in actuality a scripted, totally planned show. The van that he drives around has the same serial number (or whatever you want to call it) and it seems like it would be pretty well known around the city. Sure, there are taxi's everywhere, but there's gotta be a lot of people that know they are walking into the Cash Cab before they even open the door. Nevertheless, I love the premise and don't see this show going anywhere for a while. And how cool would it be to be on it! Ohh, I would totally pick my grandmother as the person to call. She's a whiz - I've watched her shout out the answers to Jeopardy on more than one occasion.
  20. Actually, not really concerned about the clowns. But geez, for the life of me I can not fall asleep tonight. Not sure what's the deal - maybe stress, or just too much on my mind in general. So, what's the remedy (other than logging off of DZ.com) to getting some friggin' rest? Warm milk, cup of tea.. anything?! I hate laying in bed, restless, and not being able to shut off the constant thoughts and worries. Suggestions? I'm desperate at this point.. Thanks!
  21. Ghost Corey wouldn't want that, either. I'd hate to be a burdon on my friends that would want to get back on the plane and jump, whatever their reason may be. I'm sure your friend wouldn't want that, either. Interesting post, though. And I totally understand your opinion. The fact that you are still going to continue your progress shows a lot about your character and desire to continue on in this sport. And the fact that you learned something from this tragedy is a good thing. Best of luck in the rest of your skydiving career, man. Oh and by the way, I have never been to Spaceland but it's on my top 3 list of DZs I want to go to. I have heard nothing but praise about the people and the dropzone.
  22. Yup, MORE being the keyword in that statement. Obviously the guidelines that are already in place aren't doing their job.
  23. (raises hand) Here's one! Sorry, couldn't help it.
  24. I'll try to get a picture of my leadbelly. It's really nice quality and does the job quite well. However, the parasport belt is a bit narrower - kinda wish I had one of those instead! With 10lbs on you it's nice to have the smaller size. The quality of the parasport belts are also really nice.

    Pwned?!

LOL.. IDK, I'm totally ROFLMAO at the fact that I totally just got PWNED on internet lingo.
