  1. Just curious, what degree of hook turns are you doing? Just going by jump numbers I'm going to assume 270 or greater..?
  2. I did a search on this and nothing came up.. so if I missed it, let me know. Anyways, anyone ever seen the channel Fuel TV? It's a channel dedicated to extreme sports like BMX, skateboarding, snowboarding and surfing. It's a really cool channel. It shocks me that there is no skydiving stuff involved. Seems to be right up their alley. Any ideas on why?
  3. !!!!! So cool !!!!! Frisbees are such a blast to play with. Last season it was pouring outside one night in the summer, but so nice out and we had a frisbee with LED lights in it. We went out to the landing area and played "throw the frisbee to whatever voice you hear, because we can't see shit". Provided a great night of drunken entertainment. Please find out where we can get them!

    Odd Dreams

Umm, weird that you posted this today but I'm glad, because last night I had two really fucked up dreams about my two younger brothers. In the first one, the middle child started living in his own apartment. It was cool, I was happy for him - until I went to use the bathroom and saw that there were a bunch of dead bodies piled up in the bathtub. Apparently, little bro Jay turned into a serial killer. Nice, huh? I watched Disturbia earlier in the night and anyone who's seen it knows about the part where the main guy (forgot his name) falls through the floor into the water. I'm sure that's what made me see the bathtub of bodies. Still fucked up, though. In the second dream, my youngest brother Matt was in a fight with a group of guys. A red Pathfinder drove up to our house and stopped and a guy started running towards the front door with a knife in his hand. I grabbed a knife, headed outside to step in front of my bro. I didn't let the guy get my brother, but in the meantime one of his friends managed to sneak in the house. I hear a gunshot, run upstairs and see my brother on the ground and this skinny kid walking out towards me with the gun. I grabbed the kid by his head, totally Steven Seagal'd his ass and broke his neck and then punched his face a few times just in case, and let him drop to the ground, dead... ... then my brother stands up and says "I was wearing a bulletproof vest". So yeah, now tell me you have fucked up dreams. I must be crazy!!!
  5. SO hard to do. I have a friend who is awesome at it. It's a lot of fun to watch. There's a guy.. Michael Moschen I think is how you spell it. Some of the stuff he does is amazing. I'm sure he's on YouTube - I was just too lazy to check.
  6. I missed the reserve?? I did enjoy the human catapult video. I can't imagine why it wouldnt' be covered by insurance. You don't see them cutaway, just a really snively opening that eventually had to be chopped. Check the canopy they come in under - white and orange, it's a Strong reserve.
  7. I love M. Night movies - most people hated The Village but I loved it. The Happening looks awesome, and I am looking forward to seeing it. Then again, I thought The Strangers looked awesome and it sucked. Maybe I'll read some reviews first..
  8. OK, so I just got back from seeing the new movie out called 'The Strangers'. I have been dying to see it since I saw the previews for it about a month ago. Oh.. my.. God.. This movie SUCKED!!!!! I honestly can not believe how bad this movie was. I am a movie junkie and I've watched a lot of them. I have only wanted to literally ask for a refund twice in my life. The first time was after seeing 'Date Movie'... The second time was after seeing The Strangers. It's actually a disgrace to think that they are charging $10.50 to see this garbage movie. This isn't a spoiler, but if you watch the previews, there's your movie. I really am disgusted at this movie. I had such high hopes for it and wanted so bad for it to be good. Please don't waste your money.
  9. because it gives the cool guys a hard on when they impress trailertrash with fake tits standing by? I must be a cool guy. Dude, land wherever you want to land. You make a lot of valid points and it's great to see your type of attitude as opposed to some of the other shit that people think/say. Lots of kudos to you.
  10. This post reminds me of Harold & Kumar with the stupid guys running around "Extreme!!!" Common' guys, let's go get some fuckin' mountain dews!" Skydiving is an extreme sport. We are all 'extreme'. Why do you have to pull low and do stupid shit to be considered extreme?
  11. Not for nothing, Henry, but you are extremely defensive on here and you are giving some conflicting versions of your own story. Skydiving is one of those sports where sometimes, you have to suck up your own pride and realize that you may have done something wrong (not the cutaway thing - by all means, you don't think you can land it, cut it away) and listen to the people with more experience. I'd give the DZ another chance. Apologize, listen to their side of the story and get back in the air.
  12. I tried Media Snap (thanks HW) but for some reason, it just won't even open up for me. I don't know if my software is too old or something, but I can't get the program to even start up. I'll have to try that other program. Thanks for the suggestions.
  13. Well, counter argument to that side of it being that if it was a dropzone that had a lot of swoopers, those tickets would sell just as fast as the full altitude slots would. I personally love hop and pops and have been doing more of them than going all the way up. Makes practicing swooping much safer and easier, plus if you suck it down a bit you can get freefall and more open airspace in one package! Doesn't get much better than that. Besides, in my opinion I think hop and pops get taken for granted and think more people should be doing them more often than they do. I watched a skydiving instructor try to do a stable exit last season after not having done one in a while and said instructor did about 7 backflips before getting stable. Kinda scary..
  14. Well, I'd be quite happy to accept that quality about myself! Being a packer probably helps, too.
  15. There's a couple songs on YouTube that I'd like to copy to an MP3 so I can listen to it without being on YouTube. Anyone know how I would go about doing such a thing? I'm on a Mac if that makes a difference. Much appreciated!
  16. I have about 300 jumps on a Pilot 150 and I've never had a hard opening. The thing opens ridiculously soft each and every time. In my opinion, it's the best quality of the canopy.
  17. As the other posters said, it's probably the student gear. It's never really comfortable and is made to fit everyone, but noone really well. I, too, had major issues with them. Bruises and just overall discomfort. Then I bought my own rig... and haven't had that problem since. Hang in there!
  18. I'm slightly biased because I have two of them but.. Pugs ROCK. They are amazing little dogs. They have the biggest personalities. They are totally unaware of their size which is hilarious. They make great companions.. if you're having a bad day and one of the little guys comes and sits on your lap, it makes things that much better. They are a bit stubborn, but in a good way. Plus they are just plain fun to be around. All dogs rule, though. I will forever be a dog owner.
  19. OK, so I saw this movie last night. I saw the first one when it came out and after seeing the trailer I knew I had to see this one. Fucking hilarious!!! I don't really know how else to describe it. I don't think I stopped laughing for more than 2 minutes at a time. It starts off right where the first one left off and takes you on a ride from there. Is it a stoner movie? Well, in the sense that there are a lot of mentions to pot and people smoking it, yes. But you don't have to be a stoner to love this movie. It was way funnier than the first one and didn't have some of the stupid elements that the first one had. There's even a 'skydiving' scene in it! I don't want to say anything else about that part - you just have to see it. Anyways, if you're looking for something fun to do on a rainy weekend (it's shitty here in New England), go see Harold and Kumar!
  20. Oh, sweet. I remember seeing my Uncle using one of those hand things years ago. He's a pretty experienced guitar player and owns a bunch of different pieces. That is definitely something that I need. I have been having a hard time even reaching a little bit extreme on the guitar neck. My small hands don't help, but hopefully this thing will. I've been interested for a while and now that I actually have the guitar, I have no reason not to practice. I've been putting in a good 2 hours total each day for the past two days that I've had it. Like I said, progress is slow but even the littlest bit is promising. Oh, I played the trumpet for four years so hopefully I will have the same drive for this as I did with the that.
  21. Yeah, I think I'm getting a little bit of that bad sound now. That or I just suck. Thanks for the tips, guys.
  22. Yeah, I can do that too! If only the real thing were that easy.. The guitar is only a couple years old. It's the strings that could use an upgrade. I'll get that done soon.
  23. It's a Fender Squier.. some kind of acoustic. Nothing fancy, but it's in great shape, and better yet, didn't cost me a dime. It definitely needs new strings. I've just been playing around with it for now until I can get over to the store to get some more. Darius, a tuner would be sweet. I really think I got it pretty close to where it needs to be, but someone who knows what they are talking about would be nice! I can't believe how bad my fingertips hurt. Those strings are damn hard to press (and hold) down.
