  1. Isn't it? I must've repeated through it 50 times. The frustration, but fun of playing it was too much to handle
  2. Check out this site. www.addictinggames.com There are a bunch of pretty cool, fun games on this site. Sports games, puzzle games, action games, shooting games.. it's a pretty sweet site to keep one occupied for a while. Some of my favorites.. Max Dirt Bike, Bowman 2, and The Impossible Quiz (do a search for this one). Be warned. The website's name is pretty much on point. I found myself playing for a while. The Impossible Quiz, especially. Saw some folks talking about it on BaseJumper.com and had to see what the fuss was all about. Oh by the way, most of the games have really easy to use controls. I don't know about you, but that was a big plus for me! Enjoy..
  3. Anyone want to size down a picture so I can actually have an avatar? I can't figure out how to do it with the software I have (macintosh, iPhoto, it's pretty much garbage) and wouldn't mind having one. Much thanks to anyone willing to take on the task!
  4. Shitty drivers. Including but not limited to the following factors: 1.) Tail-gating. 2.) Not using directionals!!! Such a simple task and oh, so useful to fellow drivers. 3.) Driving slow in the high speed lane, then when you go to pass them, they switch into your lane, basically blocking you like the douchebag they are. 4.) Tail-gaiting me when I'm in the high speed lane, already doing 80. 5.) Pulling stupid shit.. while talking on a CELL PHONE. I don't say talking on a cell phone because some people actually can manage to do it and still drive safely. Others... Oh and people not doing what they say they are going to do.
  5. I've never seen them go on sale. However.. .. they do offer extra incentives a LOT. Like someone else said, free iPod, extra memory or printers are often used as incentives. And the student discount is where it's at! Took over $100 off of my iBook.
  6. This may help, too. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/assistant/editorial_1147.shtm I brought a copy of that with me last time I flew with my rig. I didn't even have to take it out - only thing they did was put it through the x-ray twice.
  7. Guys guys whoa. Just so you ALL know.. I have neither: A.) Jumped with the expired Cypres B.) PLAN on jumping with the expired Cypres C.) Pencil packed my rig or.. D.) You guessed it, PLAN on pencil packing my rig. I simply asked a question because I didn't know the answer, that is all. I'm not mad at my rigger. He knew that my other rig, from which the Cypres in question came from, was going to expire and was NOT the rigger to see my new rig first OR transfer the Cypres to this rig. Sure, maybe he should've checked the numbers and whatnot. I always get my rig packed in a hurry, usually a day when I'm jumping because I jump all the time when the season is in session. I have watched him pack my reserve almost every time - he opens the canopy, inspects it, packs the rig and hands it back and usually I'm putting it on my back and getting on the plane. Yes, at some point I'm sure he could've changed it and HONESTLY, he's the most meticulous and responsible skydiver (and rigger) that I know. He knows that it's expired and wouldn't have packed the rig in the case that the Cypres expired with months left on the repack. The two, literally, expire two days within each other.
  8. I wouldn't turn it on because the battery recently died. I don't think my rigger knew that it was going to expire. My container is used and the packing data card still has the other guy's Cypres S/N. The packjob goes out of date in a few days, and the Cypres JUST died. They both expire within days of each other. I was just curious of the FAA regs. Ohh btw.. I meant 12 years, 3 months. My Cypres was made in September so December is when it dies.
  9. Random question that I'm not 100% sure of the answer. Does jumping a rig with an expired Cypres (NOT turned on) break any FAA rules? My Cypres has reached the end of it's 12.5 year lifetime and it's still in my rig. I probably won't jump until after I get the rig re-packed anyways, but it'd be nice to know just in case I head to CT and jump in the freezing cold.
  10. $80? Who's packing your reserve? I enjoy watching my reserve get packed. I've watched almost every time, and I've used 3 different riggers. If you have any doubt in the fact that your Cypres may not be installed correctly, have it checked. Oh, and don't use that rigger again, because if someone else opens your reserve they have to completely re-pack it.
  11. Ditto. I'm broke. I live in a trailer 4-5 days out of the week (during the season). I try to pack parachutes to compensate for the crazy amount of jumps that I do (and I still have no money and a growing balance at the DZ). But.. I've met the most awesome people in the world. I've made friendships that don't compare to some of the friendships I've had for my whole life. I've accomplished a life-long dream of flying. And I've been having the time of my life for the past year and a half. And it's only just begun...
  12. Oh man oh man.. I was hungry before but now I'm starving!!! Must.. get.. pepperoncinis.. Oh yeah. Feta cheese is also the shiz.
  13. So I think I have a problem. I have been eating pepperoncinis like they are Skittles. For those who don't know what they are, if you go to Bertucci's or Olive Garden and see the little yellow peppers in your salad that are decently spicy, those are them. Pastene and a couple other companies sell them in jars. I believe they are pickled. These things are amazing. I can't just open up the jar and eat one. Instead, I eat half of the jar.. a big jar. I can't help it. It's like a drug.. once I start eating them I can't stop until they are gone. But they do tend to mess with my stomach a little bit, which I never feel the affects of until.. #2. Anyone else love these little, yellow bundles of joy?
  14. I feel like an old man/a-hole for thinking that too, Danger - considering I don't really have a ton of experience and I'm swooping. But I'm loading at 1:1 on a Pilot and am just now getting ready to downsize to a 135/120 (of which I'm jumped both numerous times). I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking that, though.
  15. Right. And I drink beer not because of the alcohol, but because of the bubbles.
  16. My ex-girlfriend made an awesome punch. She used Hawaiian punch, 7-up or sprite, basically any flavor of sherbert and Ketel One. Not sure of the amounts of each... I'd say there was more Ketel One in it than anything, though
  17. Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. Much appreciated!
  18. I've heard about guitars hurting your fingers. Is it painful only for the fingers of the hand strumming the strings or for the hand on the neck of the guitar, as well? Seagulls.. new brand to me. But then again, I've barely even held a guitar.
  19. So for a while now I've been wanting to get a guitar and start learning how to play. I don't have any intentions on really doing anything with the skill.. just want to learn how to play for my own entertainment, really. I played the trumpet for 4 years while back in junior high but haven't touched it in.. geez probably 10 years. I figure at least having some kind of background with a musical instrument can do nothing but give me an advantage. I've talked to a bunch of friends about recommendations for a guitar. Seems like I'm leaning towards a Takamine acoustic. I dig the black guitars and a buddy has a Takamine that is pretty sweet. Anyways, just looking for suggestions. I don't really want to take lessons and want to try to just teach myself. Am I stupid for wanting to take that approach? And anyone know about Takamines.. good, bad? Stay safe people.
  20. Don't do it!! Just kidding. Being a packer is hard work. It takes it's toll on your body big time, and while all of your buddies are planning the next hybrid, big way or tracking dive, you're stuck trying to get the 4 way team up on the next load. Think long and hard about it. Get a lot of practice. Familiarize yourself with every kind of rig out there - Racers, Mirages, Vectors, Javelins, Wings, Infinities. Know the names of the parachutes and whether they are 7 or 9 cells, ZP or F-111. Have plenty of pull-up cords in your pockets and at least 2 power tools, as well as lots and lots of rubber bands... i could go on for a while. The basic answer - PRACTICE!!! Good luck. Packing can earn you some great money, but just know that it's probably the least glamorous job on the DZ (other than manifest!!!).
  21. Man, seeing as it looks like everything from the rig to the electronics that make it steerable is all handmade.. I can't imagine it being cheap. Unless they were to start mass producing them which I don't really see happening.
  22. They will probably let you tag along actually. Seems like groups like that would want to educate people and at the same time, scout for new talent and members. I agree about the castle in Ireland - crazy!! And one of the earlier episodes where the equipment guy literally got swept off of his feet by something.. really weird.
  23. Really? Small chicks are flying 120s here, from 80+ jumps.... Really? No one said that was smart either. Agreed. What are these S&TA's thinking is the bigger question.
