  1. what about those of us who dont stop doing tandems for 3-5 months? You think we should still take a refresher?
  2. whatever they show up in. Our landing area is a cut out piece of desert in casa grande but we also have a huge ass area of pee gravel. Something like 80x200 feet of pee gravel so were not worried about grass stains or road rash.
  3. i use an opteka .3 for my handcam. With the step up ring its as wide as my old royal .2 was.
  4. Of course ... it offers more protection than any skydiving helmet I have. haha nice. still freezing your balls off in alberta? Been jumping a velo for the past season here and switching to a xaos now. loving the crossbrace these days
  5. use the cx100 for video and get a gopro HD for stills. Get your DZ to sell both and make fat cash!
  6. yeah trying to sell my velo and got an email from this guy today as well. damnit i want to sell this thing...
  7. thank god i am not the only one to notice that...
  8. zoo loads are a little diffrent with freeflying as well. Personally as someone who has done a lot of them and is past the point of needing to prove himself to people, i personally odnt like them anymore and if i do them i only get the canopy ride out of it or i feel like i got a fun two way with a bunch of people zooming around me. Spend your money wisely. Instead of doing 2 zoo jumps do a coach jump with someone and learn.
  9. my hand cam vids are about 5.5 mins. People really only wanna see the freefall. i have espcially noticed this over the last year of watching people watch their videos get made and they dont really pay attention till the door opens and were about ready to jump!
  10. same with my tandem course. a back flip was mandatory and it says that in the strong tandem manual...
  11. seen it once and i know of a couple instructors who have had it happen to them multiple which is why they dont give them access to the drogue release anymore!
  12. From the article i read at the airport there making it so every airport is diffrent and switching shit up to make it unpredictable
  13. i just flew back from vancouver canada to phoenix a week ago and they were allowing everyone to bring carry-on with them. They were just searching all carry-on by hand and were patting every single person down.
  14. best bang for you buck is tunnel
  15. i will try and get some footage soon. Dont have a whole lot of time on my hands right now cause of this time of the season but i will try
  16. Gonna post some examples? I did not edit these or put them on youtube. This is not my full handcam video and if you got a problem with the way i do tandems or handcam send me a PM this is just a comparison of lenses. I dont have any video online of my CX100 yet. Royal .2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESGtaWLNdQs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16k0uXhWJGI Blackeye .25 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOKPSxaugDM
  17. everybody's got their preference. thanks for sharing yours =p you like the tunnel shot? I'm trying to get as much in frame as possible with the camera sitting on my hand. If I zoom in then I get less in the shot. It would be like buying a .2 and shooting with a .3. If I were to zoom in far enough to eliminate the black ring, then I couldn't fit all of me, the whole student, and background scenery into the frame. Right now there are no lenses I'm aware of that're suitable for this job, that can provide such a wide view without the ring. Handcam videos have sacrifices that are expected: either you get the ring and lots in the frame, or you get less in the frame. i do handcam video as well and i use a royal .2 with my PC1000 and i dont have to zoom-in at all. I just started using a CX100 with an opteka .3 and its just as wide and i dont have to zoom in either. I did own a blackeye .25 at one point though where i had to zoom in which sucked. There are lenses out there that dont have this problem or maybe its just the camera.

  19. Here's a grab (off of youtube), is that not head to waist? Shooting with a .25 lens, but the TI has a 80" wing span. I have one of DSE's .2 lenses.. he loaned it to me a while back & I've been using it for handcams. Attached is a screenshot from that lens, zoom in to get rid of vignetting or get a better lens...
