  1. yeah i read the sticky and it didn't answer all the questions i had. I did check out that the link at the bottom of the page which told me a lot of what i was wondeirng. The problem with my DZ is that all the camera flyers left this year to do some stupid bullshit politics and i am left with no true camera flyers so i am left with coming here for advice. i was just trying to do simple camera stuff with people who have thousands of jumps. Gonna be down at the canadian invasion 13th-22nd if anyone can give me some advice. I look like harry potter so i won't be hard to miss
  2. i am currently in university and don't have the funds to travel around a lot . Everyone who i talked to in person who has seen my skills said i would be perfectly fine under this canopy and would have no problems with it. I am really sorry if i came off to strong there and i don't want to offend anyone i just think a lot of people jump to conclusions without knowing each individual situation. I am not cocky or anything my instructors and coaches deemed me able to fly this 135 and that is what i am doing. So your saying that people who actually know me and know what i can do and have 1000's of skydives are completly wrong? I am not hooking it in or anything like that. I did expierment with that on my 170 for a bit but i really don't want to do that on my cobalt. I am practicing for those emergency procedures where i have to avoid an object or someone else flying. I want to learn and excel at canopy flying.
  3. Don't worry, I just came from the video forum, and according to his thread there, he'll be flying a camera, so we'll have whatever happens on video. you know you really are starting to piss me off. From what i gather your one of those self proclaimed skygods. I am asking questions i don't see what the problem is there. Quit acting like you know me. You have seen people bite it hard and i have seen a few people eat some serious chow also. I realize what i am getting myself into and i accept the consequences so i don't see what the big deal you are having with me. I never flamed you once and you come here doing that to me and you keep doing that to me. Do you have anything better to do than to put down new skydivers?
  4. I filmed a 2 way and a 3 way 2 days ago for my very first time. I asked them if i could and they said yes. I was wondering if that way is the best way of getting into camera flying or is there a better way? Are there any sites out there that give tips on how to get the perfect angles and that type of stuff?
  5. Thats good. But actually I haven't hit the ground hard at all. I have, on the other hand watched many. many folks (maybe like yourself) hit the ground all kinds of ways, resulting in all sorts of damage. Maybe the real answer is that you haven't hit the ground hard enough (yet). For the record, I do have a need to be a smartass, It's what I do. Say and do shit that makes sense, and I'll have nothing to say. being a smart ass makes me want to ignore you cause of that. And yes i have hit the ground hard but thankfully it was on a sandbar instead of regular landing area. Everyone makes mistakes i have seen the fatality reports of jumpers with 2000+ jumps making that low turn to avoid obstacles and dying it is not only the low time jumpers that make this mistake you could make this mistake to. Telling someone not to do something normally makes them want to do it even more(as i said earlier). You don't know me and i don't know you and i am not here to piss anyone off i just wanted some simple fucking advice that is all.
  6. Which one is it? Sucks when people tell you what you don't to hear. Why didn't you just say that in the first place? That changes everything. I thought you were one those guys who wanted to get busted up early on in their jumping. I'm glad you made the distinction, and set yourself apart from those other guys. Don't forget to tell reality, it has a way of not giving a shit what you want. no need to be a smart ass. i believe thier is a quite a bit of diffrence between arguing on the internet and reading articles. If you disagree with that maybe you have hit the ground hard a few to many times.
  7. thier in the same category from what i gathered
  8. i do understand thier is more to it than toggles and risers and that is why i am trying to get as much advice as possible from anyone who flies canopy from accuracy jumpers to pro swoopers i try to get info from all of them. I do do a lot of reading of diffrent articles on the internet, i study swooping videos, i do watch the mal videos of HP canopies to figure out how they fix the problems, i watch everyone who is an excellent canopy pilot and how they fly thier shit and i come here asking for advice once in awhile on what to do(even though it sometimes ends up going the way i don't want it to ) I do not want to be one of those low jumper statistics but i do want to have fun. I respect my canopy a lot and wish to live a long life.
  9. i am waiting for my new container i am not sure if it has riser inserts on it but if it doesn't i was planning to get some. Do to the cameras being on thier heads i can't see what the rest of their body was doing but they were using thier hands to pry the two risers apart to start undoing the linetwists if they were high enough off the ground still. i will be there in the 2nd week from the 13th-22nd. i love having conversations with people about canopy piloting so if i see you there look forward to a conversation if not maybe some other itme
  10. I have never had a spinning line twist yet but i have seen vids/people get them and get out of them and not get out of them and cut away. I understand that with spinning mals the cutaway process can be harder do to the G-forces strained on the body from spinning and when the risers are twisted together they can cause excess force to be applied to the cutaway cables making it harder to cutaway. I don't claim to know everything never have never will but i do know a few things that i have been practicing for dangerous situations like the ones you guys have listed like learning to do flat turns at 50 feet, crosswind/downwind landings if needed, turning your canopy while flaring to avoid objects and keeping away from low jump number students while thier in the air. I know this isn't every situation that is covered and i don't have time to tell you everything i know on that question cause i have shit to do in RL instead of arguing on the internet where i can't accurately state everything i want to say. Sorry but what does searching for crossfire have to do with anything? Just curious i did read your whole post on what atair said. I don't believe i truly did a double downsize either since i did put a few jumps on a stilleto 150 before i transitioned to a 135.
  11. i was informed by mutliple people that a cobalt was a good entry ellipitical canopy and even the company that makes it says it is a good ellipitical for beginners. I have put about 18 jumps on it now and it flies perfectly for what i need. Anyways if any of you are at the canadian invasion in AZ in january you will see me there with my white/blue ribbed cobalt and if you would like to talk to me in person i would prefer that since a lot of shit doesn't come out properly on the internet.
  12. instead of telling people a plain NO why not help them out. Train them, show them how something is supposed to be done instead of telling them a straight no cause that will make a lot of people want to do it even more just to prove them wrong. It is not like i am jumping a ridiculously small canopy like a 107 velocity or a tiny ass pocket rocket. Thanks for the replies to the thread and i now know what i need to get down to my canopy so i can learn how to fly it better which is all i really wanted to know so i don't hurt myself with a bucking canopy.
  13. That mother fucker has got no soul Lengthen your brake lines. Anybody without enough experience to figure that out by himself shouldn't be jumping anything that highly loaded. Canuck Sorry if the paragraphs are out of order since i just edited it and i don't wanna proofread my whole post again I didn't come here to start this whole conversation about jumps numbers and what is a good size canopy for that level. I just wanted to reassure what i already thought and was told the problem might be. Since i read something that said if it bucks i might just be pulling the front riser down to far but i knew i wasn't doing that since i only pulled it down 3 inches and it started bucking. I like to make sure i am 100% correct before i go and buy new lines for it. As i said in my first post i thought it might be something with lines but i wasn't 100% sure cause maybe it might have been something else. Everyone who sees me fly canopy is suprised at how well i do considering my jump numbers. I did not buy this canopy from atair and i have no problems flying a 135 i don't hook it in i don't do anything extreme with it. I found my 170 to be a bit slow after i lost that 10 pounds and needed something new. I do understand you guys are trying to look out for me and i appreciate it but i needed something faster and i did transition on a 150 stilleto for a few jumps before i went to the 135 + i had 10 jumps on 135's before i got this one, I know it isn't much. i have been opening really high and learning to fly my canopy. If it wasn't so damn cold i woulda been doing 10000 foot hop and pops all weekend with it.
  14. Would like to know who would sell someone with 160 jumps a reserve they load at 1.3 and a main they load at almost 1.5... Lets not turn this into a thread about me being at a 1.5 wingloading please. I will tell you why i am on a 135 though. I spent 140 jumps on a 170 doing a lot of hop and pops and 7000 foot hop and pops at my local DZ. Atair recommends to choose a canopy that is 2 sizes smaller than what you want for performance also so the 135 is 2 sizes smaller than a 170. I have also lost a bit of weight since last time i updated my profile and i only load it to 1.37 and not 1.5 if that makes any diffrence with you all Thanks for the replies about what the problem could be.
  15. Just got my cobalt 135 it is used with 600 jumps but whenever i try to use the fronts it starts to buck. I have been told that if it bucks your pulling the fronts down to far but it starts to buck after i pull them down about 4 inches. Just wondering if it is with the lines or maybe i am just doing something wrong. I have expierence with the fronts on a 170 sabre and had no problems like this on it.
  16. gonna have to agree with brad here that these video's are sick and have no educational value.
  17. Looking to buy a new canopy and was wondering if there was another classifieds page like the one here on dropzone.com but elsewhere
  18. 1995 javelin http://www.blue-eyed-monster.net/rig/Back.jpg
  19. checked sunpath's webpage and wasn't able to find it there. Does anyone know where i can find one since i just got my javelin and it was used but didn't come with a manual or any sorts.
