  1. So, If I wanted to get a canopy canopy for CRW, (a second canopy) what charateristics should I look for and what wing loading should I get? I've been holding on to this old Sabre 120 loaded 1.3 for CRW, but I've been thinking (dangerous) If Im only keeping it for crw, I should get rid of it and get something that's more crw appropriate. I only have 3 CRW jumps, but I would love to do more. I was advised 7 cells, and Dacron lines. Whaddaya think Wendy?
  2. That's happened to two different teams at my DZ in the last month. Where a freeflier has exited after a team and ended up "a little too close" on deployment. Wonder if it's as much a common problem as it seems to be lately. Especially for low time freeflyers. Maybe they are going by the (x) second rule instead of the "distance across the ground" rule. Never hurts to turn around and say....give us (x) seconds depending on what you know about the uppers. Im just guessing, but seems like low time freefliers don't realize how close they could actually drift (flail, slide etc.) to a formation.
  3. Rock on Girl! You can tell Nationals is creeping up, all the teams are jumping their asses off. Of the 5 teams on the DZ, 3 had coaches this weekend. The other two trained all weekend starting Friday, and at least one has a trip back to the tunnel schedules (which is quit an expense from Texas either West or East). Deguello had the weekend off, so it was really cool making fun jumps with Tom and Jack. That hasn't happened too often this season.
  4. That's really ashame. I was pulling for the Ladies Record.
  5. Ahhh, there is nothing better than that coming down from a skydive and seeing that "Permagrin" and someone says to you "that was the best skydive I've ever had!" It's a cool feeling! Keep jumping with her-She'll be out skydiving you by next summer.....
  6. Just remember, the answer to every question is "I don't know..." and When is it over? When they tell you!! I love SCR's. Im pouring virtual beer on you as we speak!
  7. I know there is a "Weekend Numbers" thread in Talkback, but I wanna hear about your RW jumps this weekend. Lots of team stuff going on, practices for next weekend's TSL meet. I got 9 in this weekend. Including 3 20 ways (good practice for the Ballunar Liftoff jumps coming in August at NASA). 2 jumpers got their first 20 way. Couple of 16 ways, a 14 way a 4 way, a 6 way and a 7 way. Great Dives. We did a Tshirt dive for a Baylor College football team photo shoot wearing these Gold Tshirts. That was different. Hope they got some good shots. Maybe Josh Hill will let us know how the photos turned out. Supposed to be the Cover shot of the School Paper for opening of Football Season. All 5 teams at the DZ were practicing and the Freeflyers were gone to the Dallas Boogie. It was a Belly Flyer Weekend at the DZ. How were your RW jumps?
  8. You rascal you You can reproduce. Amazing joy to see life created. Skydiver blood regenerated. Way to go Dave and What's her name? xoxoxo Paula
  9. I can just feel the love on this thread .
  10. I chuckled at the Golf one. Cute ! More Cartoons today... Like is too serious, need relief
  11. Hey guys, traditionally this event coincides with the Johnson Space Center open house. I take the kids every year to see NASA. The website doesn't exactly say that this year though. Anyone know if they are having the open house? If not, I can certainly understand why. You know, you can't even go to the Rocket Park anymore without going though the Disney Spacecenter Houston and riding that damn tran. They have the whole thing chain linked closed.
  12. Interesting. I could even see where putting on your full face would be a mental switch to non verbal. I never really thought about it that way. I too struggle for that split second right out the door. It's getting better with time and PRACTICE, and my awareness to the exit frame is improving. Mikie always says, "every exit is a funnel out the door until you sort it out". On fun jumps, I keep begging to launch our standard stairstep in the front float position...It funnels every time with me in front. Not always my fault but I haven't been on a successful one yet Mikie cringes when I say "can I go front floats"...it's like the kiss of death. Relaxation really does help, and more time in the mock up. On 16 way, my favorite part has been the exits , and my position on exit is the exact same on every jump. I get to practice that one slot over and over - I can see myself improving. That, Im sure, is the advantage of 4 way. The repetition of your exit position. 3 deep breaths and a big smile. That's what I do.
  13. Badass RW flyer? Sweet, but overstated Love to try the Womans Vertical SCR. Count me in! Can Levin have a number? Eventhough it's a GIRLS FREEFLY TEAM and he's a boy?
  14. Happy Happy Happy Happy Birthday! Give Scotty a big wet kiss for me and get two really big guys to hold him still while he gets a REAL BIRTHDAY SPANKING from the spanking girl. We want internet photos of his red as hell bare ass to prove 50 swats. AND I MEAN SHOCKER SWATS - NO PANSY ASS WUSSY LOVE PATS If you put all your love into it, he won't be able to sit down the next day. Then he will truely know you love him. xoxoxoxo
  15. ahhh, the Freefly League and their meets... But Inquiring minds still need to know. How'd you get that name BooYa? I don't get it
  16. I got invited last year by simply filling out the "contact us" information for Skydivers on the web page. Last year we only had about 25 jumpers per team because that's all who registered and were qualfied. If you are D licensed and qualified to jump 30 ways, I encourge anyone to go to the website and fill in the information and Al Saylor will , Im sure, refer the info to a team captain. With 90 slots available for this Event, Im sure most anyone who inquires will be sent a pre-registration form. Some jumpers did get turned away last year, but it never hurts to submit your info for review. I don't think this is HOUSTON TEAM exclusive. There are lots of names on the list I got that were not team members.
  17. Christina! Welcome to the forum! Whats a booya# ? I thought I heard everything, but that's a new one to me.
  18. Count me in! Only my second Ballunar Liftoff and Im very happy the event is still on. I was a little worried that they wouldn't allow us to jump over NASA this year. See ya there!!
  19. Thank you very much. You have redeemed yourself for not being your usual flirt lately! Hope I get to jump you...oops...Jump WITH you again real soon! P.S. Mikie doesn't read these threads...right?
  20. Thanks so much everyone. Hope the next 500 go faster than the first 500.
  21. Bring a car and I'll hit it with a sledge hammer in my bikini any day....for contributions to Jump for the Cause as long as you torch it when we're done!
  22. Thank you so much babe, it's a cool feeling.
  23. This is the best advice I've seen. I've spent most of this season jumping with skydivers who are recently off student status doing simple 4 way's and scr's. I've learned alot! People think RW is supposed to be easy but it's not. It takes a lot of practice to fly relative to others. Practice is the fun part. Why is it mentally challenging? Because it is performance driven. It is very very difficult to teach someone RW who beats themself up over a skydive, then gets frustrated and goes to make a sit fly solo when you've done ONE jump with them. Regarding getting "invited" or made to feel like charity- just like new people learn from jumping with those who have more experience, those who have SOME experience learn from jumping with those who have even more. I've been the one not invited on the sunset big way before, but I didn't quit RW and go do a freefly solo because I felt snubbed. Freeflying because the pressure is less is great. Personally, I have stuck with Formation Skydiving because it's challenging to strive for performance and perfection in the sport. Yes, it's high pressure sometimes, but the pressure just adds to the thrill.
  24. Counting Thursday 2:11:0 Made my 500th yesterday! Practiced 16 way for an informal meet later this fall.
