  4. THANK YOU ANTIMIKE FOR GETTING IT TOGETHER. This was the most amazing skydive ever! I was sooo scared before the dirt dive, pacing back and forth, my heart was racing. As soon as the organizer took over and started orgazining the 20 way TEXXAS STAR, they put me in the base and I just got a suddent rush. I looked around the 5 way base of my skydive with a very very humble sense of honor. I couldn't believe some of the people that were jumping with me and I felt instantly at ease. Everyone smiled the entire time, in the dirt dive, in the mock up, in the plane. The smiles made me feel even calmer. One Jumper sat next to me in the plane giving me tips the entire ride to altitude,(and after every tip, he said "and smile") I was so absorbed and intensely listening that I didnt have time to be nervous or scared. I flipped on exit (from the center with 9? floating) but found my slot and built the base and smiled my ass off. I kept my eyes glued to the opposite side of the formation. Falling level. Second point, but built a 10 way round in the center, still smiling my ass off.... with Cat - (few cat's out) I had really nice clean air when I tracked because I realized, MY TRACK IS NOT AS FLAT some others ....First time I ever tracked away from 19 other people. Need to work on that And, lots of landing area!!! Man, guess that's another cure for me. Nothing wrong with big ways.... I hope I thanked everyone enought. I couldn't put into words the honor and excitement I felt other than to say THANK YOU. They told me later , after the skydive..."You know, on the base of that skydive, the other 4 jumpers with you had over 36,000 skydives combined." How do you thank someone for Organizing that kind of thing....for you? Fly Your Slot !
  5. Speedy Recovery Good Vibes! Speaking of Firsts: You see, I had such an amazing weekend of skydiving with 2 cases of beer jumps, so Saturday Night at the Carbone Zone, you know Scottie built that new bar out there, and It needed some kind of initiation, the SKYDIVER kind. So after all the SCR's were over, and most everyone skydiving Sunday had to get home...that left the party crowd. In my evil and dangerous ways (the great initiator) I jumped on the bar, stripped down to my new bikini and yelled "BODY SHOTS" ..... and it got pretty crazy from there. I ended up not making it home till I could sleep off some of the shots. BUT.... I got Body Shot Babe #1 - Written in big black marker on Scotties New Bar (speaking of firsts)! Score! Fly Your Slot !
  6. Im trying to get this too, sex:jump:case ? 1/2 : 11 : 2 Fly Your Slot !

  8. Actually, we REALLY made him fly. Concentrate on the center point, creepers, eye contact, the 'secrete shit'. Good solid exits. Cool time. I learned alot too about flying point. IT'S ALL GOOD! Fly Your Slot !
  9. Well, betcha can't guess who did their first CReW jump Friday. Why Yes, it was ME! I docked, slid down the lines and put my feet in his front risers, did some spirals, he took some pictures of me. We tried a side by side but I collapsed. Got the stack back together, more spirals then we took it to 30 feet, I kicked out of his risers and we both landed like birds. I was SOOOO amazing. The most fun I have ever had under canopy Strangely, I feel like a canopy pilot MAGGOT. I have a renewed fire to learn to fly my canopy REALLY WELL. Bye Bye downsize fever....I found a cure. Im keeping my square!! Fly Your Slot !
  10. MY FIRST TWENTY WAY!! (bought my case, green bottles) What an amazing experience! THANK YOU to everyone on the DZ that jumped with me. We built a beautiful Texxas star! I feel alot better about the 30 way's now. Got some good encouragement from you guys too. They told me later, btw you had over 36,000 skydives between the other 4 jumpers in the base with you. WOW! Blue Skies!
  11. It was my pleasure Zen. You have some very strong skills! It WAS a great weekend.
  12. Happened to me too. Everyone thought I had a death wish. But now that I have some jumps under my belt, My dad will still tell me Im Crazy to my face, but brags to his bud's "my daughter's a skydiver".. On the other hand, there are lot's of sports I think are dangerous and crazy, but I haven't tried them and don't have a passion for them. If my Dad took up drag racing, I might tell him the same he told me. I find it useless to look "outside the sport" for encouragement.
  13. Im in sales and a friend pointed out to me that Ive started calling my positions for Agents "SLOTS". I drive around looking at flags and imagine which way I would land in that 'that car dealership lot' or 'mall parking lot'. My kids and neighbor kids bellyflop into the pool. It's always 'ready, set,go'. They say "lets launch 3 way! Cute Stuff!!
  14. May I suggest the book by Pat Works regarding relative work. It IS older, but the principles are the same. It helped me alot as a new belly flyer.

  16. I spent MANY MANY MANY days on the ground trying to get off Student Status. One very wise man once told me ... "You can't jump if you are not there". or it's also called the "hurry up and wait" game. I a lot of ways, you learn sooo much by sitting on the ground waiting to jump. Especially when winds are high.
  17. Wow, babe - I'll really miss you. But one thing I love about this sport...you meet people from all over, you love to stay in touch and you get together at boogies. At least if Im every your way, I'll have someone to jump with! Let's have a AIRANN party before you leave. And don't forget about that Bikini Jump you promised me!
  18. Some very good advice and friendly people. Thanks Everyone! I've decided to go ahead and turn in my registration. This will reserve my slot. I have 6 weeks, so I will talk to my load organizer at the ole Home DZ,(he is very familiar with my skills)and try to jump some bigger ways till then. The landing area is HUGE and the jumps are from a CASA. I have about 50 CASA jumps, so that's a plus too. Our boys just got back from TeXXas 20 way, so it's a good time to ask for some coaching on bigger stuff. Thanks Again for the words of wisdom.
  19. I need some advice. I live in Houston and in August 1998 I attended the annual Balunar Festival and NASA open house. I saw SKYDIVERS. I started jumping and every year since then I have had a sideline seat during the event and watched the Balloons, Paraplanes, Hang Gliders, and Jumps…waiting for the day I could jump into NASA. Fully licensed, I got my invitation this year. But….. The Demo is a 30 way competition with 3 teams- and I don’t have much experience with Big Ways. I have 3 years in the sport 320 jumps; all RW and I enjoy 4-8 way. My largest formation was a couple of 16-ways with a well-known organizer. (I pulled off because I felt “in over my head”. Several were cut). I have many 9-15 ways under my belt, but I don’t really prefer them. My concern is that without the experience, I may go low at lower freefall speeds, I could create traffic in the flight pattern, there is much more congestion on breakoff, and lots of canopies in the air. Plus, it’s my first real Demo. I want this REALLY BAD, but the conservative side of me says wait another year. What would you do?
