Being an Australian and watching it with an Australian audience over the weekend, I understand exactly what you mean. Parts that incited raucous laughter include: 1) The American "slow clap" - about a dozen times 2) Spidey in front of the huge American flag 3) The "everyone's a victim" tone to the whole movie... eg. sandman isn't a bad guy, he's just misunderstood, give me a break 4) Spidey's emo sequence (pushing his hair down in front of his face, getting all sullen-teenager like). I was seriously waiting for him to break out some my chemical romance and make a half-assed attempt at slashing his wrists 5) Spidey blubbering rediculously at the break up with MJ 6) Harry's butler - "I loved you like I loved your father", that whole bit I spent the whole movie thinking, "When's the real movie going to start?". Simply awful. Wait for the DVD people... or download it. I don't think it's even worth hiring.

Funny this should come up now. I check my skydiving gear at the start of every jump day (including slinks) and give it a quick once over before every jump, yet I had my left rear slink break on opening only a few days ago on my Stiletto 150 after having a couple of hardish openings. It wasn't mis-rigged and this canopy has only about 800 jumps on it (I'm not 100% sure if the slinks have been replaced before, they looked in good condition though). I've heard this is really rare, but it still made me think about rapide vs slinks for BASE.

Reading his description and then seeing the pictures, I can see how that could happen during push-off. Looks like his left foot has slipped backwards on exit catching the rock or something like that. Still, interesting exit shots though

That is a good question! I have talked to both of my parents about this very thing. My dad doesn't watch my jumps in person much anymore because of this very reason. He can't stand watching his baby get hurt. My mother though is one of those people that really would rather be there, and see it herself, than get information second hand. She was with me when a fellow jumper went in literally before our eyes, and has stuck with her decision to watch my jumps, and help out, whenever possible. I think it's very important to talk with your family about jumping, and help them be involved however they desire. Letting my family participate in ground crewing, driving, or dinners, helps them accept my jumping. The first time I asked if a jumper could stay at the house my father was really nervous, but he soon realized jumpers are respectful people. I think of it as two more people that are on our side if all the chips came crumbling down. Great response, thanks for sharing

My mom ground crews for me sometimes. She has no desire to skydive or base jump. I know her pretty well, and who better to trust when your life is on the line? Honest question.... How would she handle it if she were to watch her daughter go in before her eyes? There's a big difference between getting a phone call and seeing it all happen in living colour... I ain't raggin on ya, just personally I couldn't do that to my own folks. Cool mum you got tho

I searched for this, but i could not find anything else on emergency situations that would call for an unpacked jump. I know of an Aussie jumper who McConkey'd his way to freedom after getting stuck on a wall.
