  1. I packed brand new all sail 79 into 170 bag(wings) and it was very tight. I was thinking of getting one but packing is just too much for me, velo will do it for now maybe comp velo later.
  2. I am not gonna talk about your readyness to fly 150 at 100 jumps its not my job to teach you the right thing. I never seen you land nor I know your weight so lets get on topic here. I owned micron 310 which is seized for 150 tight fit and I squeezed in my sabre 170 at the time. It was really tight but doable plus I was a packer so it maybe was easier for me than whoud have been other wise. Chart indicates that it is seized for 135 tight fit so you maybe able to fit 150, but the question is if it is worth the effort? I understand everyone wants that small cool looking rig but sometimes its just not worth the hussel to have it. V308 Width A 10" Width B 11" Length 16" Thickness 5.5" V310 Width A 10" Width B 11" length 17.5" Thickness 5.5" you see its just a little longer only by 1.5". When I looked at the chart I saw there is a micron 309. Maybe it is a good option for you. 309 is shorter than 310 by 0.5". So I think it is possible to squeeze 150 in the 308 but it's is gonna be really really tight. Good luck with your choice! I think if you end up going with 308 it could very well be the last rig you ever need to buy unless the other coolness moment strikes again and you decide to get 306 hehe.
  3. lenght of the video is probably very dependable on small things like how much one films under canopy. I found that my videos tend to get way too long when I film "intresting" stuff out the window while in the plane. Also a big video time adder is if I turn the camera too early on the landing. Once im in the groove and very current I turn it on just before going into deep brakes for landing this tends to save a lot of useless time on a tape and video itself. I heard some people film all or almost all of the parachute ride and thats just ridiculous in my opinion.
  4. I would like to ask how long are your videos guys? I try to keep it 5min no more than 6min. Longer than that is boaring to watch for anyone I think. Some more intresting shots you can get in the cessna: tape out the door while taxiing either facing propeler or tail, just after the take off if I sit in the back I sometimes open cargo door and film lift off, if I sit in the front and interview before hooking up I take a shot of a propeler I think it looks quite nice. Also if the passenger is not trying to pull me out the door then I sometimes keep them out the door for a few extra seconds and it looks sweet on a video with the plane in the background and a horrified face. I also when I turn in free fall I try to do it slowly.
  5. I believe rings are made of a different material( don't know how would this affect tho) and it is slightly larger than stock.
  6. So far I only used removable slider (not full RDS yet) with a very good results. Velo90 opened better than stock slider and 84 never jumped stock slider but I would guess it also opens better. I use para-concepts
  7. Some of the reasons are: 1. There is no demo program 2. JVX's haven't been out as long 3. Full sail packs huge so even if you got a demo what would you pack it in. You seem so sure that JVX is superior to velo and you don't fly either one of them. I guess its also trendy plus what's your flying style all these things have a say on decision. I would guess your decision would be biased towards velo even if you tried it, only because you have a "fuzzy" feeling when it come to JVX's.
  8. I don't know if change in wl had something to do with the openings but my velo84 doesn't hunt as much as my velo90 used to and it seems that 84 opens quicker. The openings improved big time with para-concepts removable slider on velo90 and i'v never jumped 84 with stock slider. On the opening i place my hands on all 4 risers and just go with a canopy and flex my butt cheeks a little to help it make a decision of where it wants to go but nothing drastic. Seems to work for me so far.
  9. Hi, everyone I was wandering what everyone likes to listen before swooping or in other words what puts you in the swooping mode while driving to the DZ on the beautiful no wind day or downwind day for that matter. My favorite artists for this are: Damien Marley, Steven Marley, Sublime, some of the Everlast. If we look at the particular songs then i tune in with: Team Alliance- Here we go Nina Simone- feeling good (pd video influence) Jem- 24 Eminem- loosing yourself or sing for the moment and some others Share your songs so I could maybe add them to my list
  10. As I understand the "D" (flying from D to C) point should allow the pilot to determain the exact distance for his base leg- flying from B to A? Now there is a problem if the wind is not perfect. Let say we have wind on our backs while flying from D to C then on the base leg we will have wind in our faces, so both of these legs will not be the same lenght.
  11. Forgot to mention. I'v seen too many beginner swoopers who learned how to use rears were "over using" them. Which was no matter what the situation was they tried to salvage it on rears when it was time for toggles. Rears for performance enhancement and toggles for healthy bones hehe.
  12. i can only share my experience. I started playing with rear riser landings on CF2- 119 but I wasn't consistent on using them-only once in a while. The reason I did so was mentioned earlier- shortish recovery arc and it didn't feel safe to do it all the time. The gap between the perfect and not so much was too slim for my comfort. Oh I acctually made couple landings on rears on CF2- 139. Once I borrowed xaos27-98 and made only couple jumps that I felt it was safe and beneficial to fly rears. And I'v flown them ever since. On the other hand my friend been landing rears since he had sabre2 150. So I guess it is a personal choice. I believe that there is really no ture benefit in using the rears on non HP canopies and even CF's. I can't talk about katanas because i haven't jumped them that much. I think that on non XB canopies which have positive recoverie arc rear riser usage is much more delicate. In other words you got to be on the money to get any benefit and if you give just a tiny bit too much input you are going up and loosing speed. Just my thoughts.
  13. In aprx 1200 tandems I have one broken leg. I never let students flare with me but this time it was a training jump. It was no wind day, we practiced the landing many times up high so when the acctual landing time came we were ready. We finished the flare about 3 feet of the ground which is not perfect for me but when landing with a student helping you it happens most of the time because they tend to flare too high too fast. Over all it was a very good flare for the first level student and I didn't suspect anything had happened. Unfortunately student decided to lower his legs and his toe got cought- which broke his leg. It was complete surprise to me because there was no hard impact but it takes so little sometimes to get injured. On the regular paying tandems I never let them flair- why scare other students and yourself with shitty landings. My body which is my landing gare can only take so much. So no thank you I'll land us myself and if one wants to be involved then come and learn how to skydive.
  14. You are right! It just feels like such a big accomplishment once you lift off on your own.Instructor told me the next step would be to stay on the net and learn other inputs like switched daffy etc which will help in a long run as opposed to being limited by one hd position.
  15. Wow nice thread! Wish I knew people mentioned in here. Yes, Joey D is working at Skydive Jersey Shore. Gonna have to talk about this with him- get some stories out :) didn't know he was a swooper..

    Set me up!

I don't think 1h will cut it. Look at the thread on here: people talking on how much time it took them to start flying on their head not including other stuff. I would recomend Nick head instructor at Orlando tunnel. He is amazing guy!
  17. I have jumped only PD 384's and icarus 365's. I think icarus is superior over PD tandem canopies: they open nice, don't malfunction as easy (i don't know if that had anything to do with how old pd canopies were) have a nice flare, light toggle preasure, flies well. Now couple problems I found: icarus breathes more in turbulence( makes you more scared) and line twists are the problem. At our DZ we had 2 cutaways this year do to linetwists which wasn't a problem on pd canopies. I found that kicking doesn't help only grabing the risers and untwisting by hand.
  18. Man, you flying hd very well! I wish I could do this. I finnaly lift of the net and held it for a few seconds at the time. I think I have ~2h of hd training( I really don't count my tunnel time) total of about 4-5h and very spread out. Only go there once or twice a year. That doesn't help for sure. Man I am so stoked and can't wait to go there again and try to improve on newely learned skill! Hope it's sooner than next year :) good luck to everyone! Man it's frustrating at times and hard to keep the moth from cursing out myself :)
  19. Looks awesome! Where is this? Looks like a very clean air I would expect some turbulenece as a wind hits the dunes. Now this is wind tunnel for canopy pilots jelous jelous jelous
  20. started playing at around 150 jump mark used doubles couple times- got bored tried 90's couple times also got bored did 180's untill i had about 850 jumps now turning 270's was thinking on moving to 450's but not current(confident) enough to do it and there's a lot more to learn before moving on. Now, landing on rears I started quite late. Would have one landing on rears once in a while but not constantly until I moved on to XB canopies. It's much easier to do them on cross braced canopy. I heard from a very well known swooper that there's really no reason to use rears until one moves on to cross braced. I don't know it's just the way it hapened to me. Cheers
  21. Wow that sound like good times! Man, if not my trip to europe I would love to take part in these swoopiedz festivities! Have fun
  22. yes it is aggie are you feeling ok? just checking. I write "it is hard" you say "no its not" what should I tell you back "yes it is hard to swoop 210" :) did you see me saying "go ahead and get velo 96- NO" i just stated the obvious. Gosh it is hard to say a word online without getting pounded. Then later you have to explain every word you wrote even something you didn't write. Man, maybe I am just sensitive tonight.
  23. Do you mean so you would not have to run it out or do you want to swoop it? To swoop 210 is extremely hard. If you time your flare better you should be able to bring it to the stop. try two stage flare maybe and don't put your feet down too early. Let it fly until there is no more flaring power left and always finish the flare.
  24. I think CF2 is a great canopy. I owned couple of them and the openings are the best ones i'v ever had. It dives but you have to work for it and be very accurate on the set up. Unfortunately it has a positive recovery arc so if you end up high your swoop is screwed. Over all it is superb. Demo and get what you think is appropriate for your level today. Good luck
  25. had no problem with tonfly helmet but remember customs held the canopy that I bought from UK for couple weeks until seller convinced itr was worthless
