  1. I bought my harness and reserve on dropzone.com the guy who I bought harness from agreed to send it to my rigger and then I send him the money. With reserve was a little more dificult because the guy didn't agree to send the canopy first and the size I wanted was quite on demand so I had to risk and it worked. Well I talked many times with him on the phone gained a little trust. I am happy with what I'v got. Be carefull anyway!! good luck bro!
  2. It seems that skydiving is closely related with back problems. I usually have lower back gnawings at the end of the day but I am a packer as well so it might add up.
  3. Thank you for your warnings and thank you for your opinions on the topic. Hope i'll make the right decisions because getting hurt is not cool !!!!!
  4. Well I probably put it in a bad way and you misunderstood me. I don't plan the exact date when I will downsize. I believe I would be comfortable to do it now but decided to wait and not rush since there is a lot more i can learn on this canopy. I just thought that if I wait till next season the beginning is not the best time so maybe the second half of this is better than beggining of the next season. I know that it is best to ask people who see you land and I will do it. Just curious what people around here are thinking. I would never do something because a guy from dz.com told me so without consulting instructors around my dz. Thank you for the reply!
  5. I was thinking what time in the season is the best to downsize? I would think it is in the second part of the season when you are current or at your best and have enough time to play with your new toy before the season ends or slows down considerably. Beginning of the season or end of it is not too good for the same "being current" reason. I was thinking to downsize for the next season but now considering maybe it wouldn't be a very bad idea to do that in around september while there are plenty of jumping left and you at the peak. But if I would push it for the next season then I would have to wait till I get current again and so on and my downsizing would be very delayed( it can't hurt but... you understand the urge to downsisze is present at all times and it is not that i am pushing it too fast either). I should have around 350-400 jumps by then and around 250-300 jumps on the canopy(sabre 170) probably even more. Any thoughts about timing the downsizing?
  6. did you say 40000-50000feet? thats amazing and deadly maybe you meant 4000-5000? i wander how fast do you gain so much altitude?
  7. Yes, if I will have a chance to go i definately will to eithoer one or best yet to both.
  8. aren't you not suppose to skydive and scuba dive in 24h interval? anyway perfect day!
  9. Isn't it an eliptical canopy? i don't want to do it yet- not ready ps: I will probably try to demo safire2 and sabre2 later in the season. People say that sabre 2 is good but there might be some reasons behind which i am not aware of sabre- american safire-french i am not trying to say that it is because of political issues between the countries but maybe local product is more used than imported and some other reasons as well. also I woun't buy a new canopy and i think sabre is a little easier to come along with than safire or any other brand.
  10. Thanks bro for your offer I need every good advice I can get to be safe and cautious in the learning process not to jump ahead of myself and then get hurt just to know whats the right thing to do. I don't remember Hippie Bill but Robson is the man really nice guy and cautious instructor. It is hard to get any info on swooping from him tho. He says don't get hurt or i'll come and kick you if you do LOL people seem to be scared to give advices because they don't want you to get hurt doing smth that they told you to do( gave you a tip) but isn't it worse if you get hurt while doing smth wrong because nobody told you whants the right thing to do?
  11. Wow! Can you nail 90 degree landing every time in place, consistently? I'm still not having more rotation, than 90 degrees and I'm still not satisfied. I don't even know what to say.Well I am fairly accurate on landings although i don't put the exact spot on the ground and say i am gonna land there after my 180 but i can land in almost the same spot jump after jump if I want to and if traffic and other circumstances allow.
  12. I'll be there every day except some(most) sundays. I am packing there. I looked at the couple of threads but didn't find what i was looking for. I see people like pilot a lot and safire2 but mostly because of their openings glide ratio and so on I want the canopy from this class which would be most aggressive and prapare me for swooping some time in a far future. I don't want to fly a most forgiving canopy and when its time to go to eliptical or semi eliptical (or whatever is the next step is) be overhelmed by its performance. so which one is the swoopiest? anybody? it seems that it would be sabre2 safire 2 and then a pilot?
  13. thanks for advices. I heard some good thinks about safire 2 so I will consider it when it is time to downsize. But i am not ready yet since i am not pushing anything out of my 170 (doing 180's only) in a year or two i'll try both. I just wondered if anyone here tried them already and could give me some feed back, but in this forum seems like everyone is far past this level and flying real stuff
  14. could you guys compare these canopies safire2, sabre2 and pilot? I fly sabre1 170 now and I don't know any better because I haven't jumped any other canopies much. Once I'll be ready to go 150 I would like to know which one is most aggresive and best to practice swoops on and other characteristics. Is there any other good choice of canopies on the market for beginners?
  15. I see you learn quick! hundred pack jobs isn't that much. My sabre1 170 I would say is a slamer but last weekend i tried to be more careful with how I pack, bag, push the nore all the way, and my body position and i had 6 great openings out of 7 not bad! But my sabre certainly is a fast opening canopy.
  16. I dont know how did you manage to tell when to hook above the cloud since there is no real reference for you i tryed multiple times and would always go into the cloude at least half of my body but it is fun tho
  17. Hi, i started packing this season i pack on a small DZ and even tho the weather wasn't best for a couple weeks I still made more than working is a store. And you have fun with guys and you can jump while you are working if it's not very busy. Bytheway i have less than a hundred jumps. So it is not how many jumps you have but how many pack jobs
  18. Yeah man i just learned how to pack myself not too long ago. I think it was a good advice from my rigger to learn one step at the time and repeat repeat and repeat. My first step was to stow the brakes do a line check if they were not wraped around smth flake the canopie and put it on the mat.The next step was to put it in the bag-the most furious one:) good luck repetition makes it perfect
  19. Thank you for your suggestions i was seriouly thinking of charging the credit card but maybe it is not the best idea.I will hold on on that:) and do my best on saving my disposable incomes:) thank you again and blue skies!
  20. Hi, everyone i have read this site for a quite a bit of time now but have never tried to write anything. So tonight i decided to introduce myself i have 54 jumps so far and was hooked after my first static line jump back in 2003 if i remember well(should check my log book). I made my first 10 jumps in Lithuania (all static line) and then moved to US. After only couple months in US when i got a job and had some money in a pocket i went to DZ and spent them all my parents were furious(i made 2 tandem and 7 aff jumps) and i did bad on my jumps so i had to stop-because i was only a poor student next season i hadn't jumped at all and saved some money and finally i made it this year(05) went through AFF-now i am the happiest person on earth BUT there's a problem i want my own rig that i could jump more! till the beginning of the season i might save aprx 1500 but this ain't gonna help a lot-any suggestion? thank you all for reading this "short" introduction and the possible solutions to a well known problem
