  1. Get yourself a MAC computer. Import in PAL or NTSC as you wish at the time and make DVD's / VCD's that can be played anywhere. Problem Solved. Of Course the Mac aint exactly cheap but hey its a solution I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  2. I set my brakes in the field as soon as I have landed. No More Twists -- I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  3. Saw someone with one of these have a total when the kill-line broke leaving the pin in place and the container shut!! Still want one??? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  4. When I had just got my TM rating and had about two dozen wrigglies to my name I took a Duthcman out of a 182 6'8 and no more than 90KG's The exit wasn't that hard at all I found. (I'm 5'11.999999 and 85KGS) but as we went out the door he put one leg out to the left as far as he could and the other up his bum. To add insult to injury he headbutted me on opening and pushed my favourite sunnies of my head. Did I mention the spin or the line twists on opening all 8 or 9 of them I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  5. Can anyone out there tell me if they have any information on whether the MarS is TSO'd. I emailed the company but got a very garbled (limited english) reply that left me uncertain. Thanks Koppel I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  6. Whatever happened to helping the next generation? I recently have moved on from a DZ where people could have a radio if they wanted, anytime! It didn't mean that we always talked to them, just that they knew we were there if they needed us. The confidence that can be given to a newbie who has just got their license by knowing that we are on the other end of a radio (even if we don't talk to them) is immense and that gives them the opportunity to grow. [sarcasm] Sure, charge for that if you think that it is okay to get money of the people new to the sport at any cost. Hey I mean the DZ probably needs to pay for the next beer somehow, right? [\sarcasm] just remember to think about the fact that we were not all World Class CP's to start with. It's not all about the money, some of it is about helping the "Next Generation" Koppel I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  7. Their first own set of personel gear. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  8. I am interested to hear what is the average WING LOADING of people on their 1st set of Sports Gear at your DZ. To do this you need to take a broad selection of people that have got gear in the last 12 months at your DZ and do some averaging, it shouldn't take you long. Thanks for helping with my research
  9. I have approx 150 TM's on SET 400 / Jyro / Hop 330 and my favourite in all conditions and in all ways is the HOP. Smooth flight characteristics and nice toggle pressure all the way through the flare. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  10. Weeeeeeelllll, there i was doing a Midnight Jump on New Years Eve this year, One Neptune on my hand the other on my goggles. Turn and track at 6 grand check alti and ..... .....the light goes out on my alti Neptune as I read 5.1 Arrgghh!! I'm expecting to hear my other go off in my ear at the same time set at 5 for when i do TM's H/C.....Nothing!! Look at the flare on the ground estimate 10 seconds and pull. Alti light comes back on 2.7 Phew. Organise my flare holder, light it and land safely shortly after. My advice is go visual and go mechanical, no more techno gizmo's for me on night jumps I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  11. Did an awesome night jump for New Years, in freefall watching the fireworks.
  12. The best solution to that I have seen so far is Jockey Goggles. You can get them from Saddelerys that supply racetracks. Obviously jockeys tend to be on the smaller side so everything is sized for them. Hope this helps I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  13. one of our students got a Coe-D 190 ZP for his first canopy. I test jumped it for him and found for a canopy of that age, early 90's and with at least several hunderd jumps on it it flew well and had a really impressive flare. Great Canopy for a Newbie with Instructor approval I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  14. Theres a great bit on one of "The Shovels" (a team from Autralia) movies from where Douggs and someone are doing a bit of rel under drouge. Not sure where that bit of footage was shot but it looks great. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  15. Anyone out there got a good copy of Fandango I can get my hands on please? Mine is an old VHS PAL that sorely needs replacing. LMAO everytime I watch it I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  16. Er yeah like .........until I got my new Wings I was running a couple of rigs that had Velcro, including an old Racer where the risers went up channels on the outside of the rig. I think the hook was the original from the factory by the look of the stitching (1989 I think) but the Pile would be replaced every few hundered jumps if I wanted it to stay. Now the only Velcro on my whole rig is on the Freebag - no more stitching I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  17. Motorola at our DZ for Students for 6+ years I think. Will find brand for you at the weekend. Best thing you could ever do is put radios in for them. When your student is ready to be more self-sufficient......stop talking I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  18. I also took a while to ralise that there was a tunnel there to put the loop through. I thought about why they did it this way and the only reason that I could come up with was that it put the directional force cleanly on the stitching at all times thereby improving strength and longevity. ANKIE?? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  19. I'm with Terry on this one. It is extremely important for your rigger to be able to inspect the gear prior to repacking and watch the deployment. I am keeping a track on all rigs of how far the reserve pilot chute deploys. IF it came to me opened I would lose the opportunity to keep this study going. As for so called "Pencil Packs" if you think that is the case there is a small trick you can do with a pencil to try and keep an eye on this. If Pilotchute is visible (Racer, Teardrop etc) then make a small pencil mark at the 12 o'clock position. If covered by two flaps (Jav,Wings etc) then a small mark where the top flap meets the Pilot Chute on both sides. If enclosed (Vector etc) then a small mark on the meeting point of all flaps. These little tell-tales work quite well in my experience. Best advice..find a rigger youtrust and stick with them I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  20. Neptune Problem?!?! Try this one Exit Height shown as 8700 Deployment Height 4700 FF time 39 secs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, did I mention it was a Tandem. aint cloud base a bugger I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  21. IMHO if the knife hasn't got two blades then it aint worth shit. There are some single blade knives that seem to work okay most of the time yet most of the knives supplied with new rigs are complete CRAP! My advice FWIW would be to get yourself a a sample of different lines (Dacron/Spectra etc) and test the knives. I have found that twin blades like the Jack the Ripper (ParaGear do a little brother of it as well) work easily every time and without any effort, while others take a sawing motion to get through. Remember the Golden Rule is "If you carry a knife you will never need it. If you don't carry one.............. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  22. Its a good argument for a Cypres/Vigil/Astra etc if your concerned about the swaged ball coming off. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  23. I have had my Vision 117 WL ~1.8 since Equinox 04. Put around 600 jumps on it. Great canopy for its class. Difficult for me to compare to Stilleto / Crossfire / Katana as I have never jumped any of those in a similar size. I certainly moved faster under the katana 97 The new Vision's feel as if they are trimmed slightly differently and give a smoother ride but I used to get more swoop out of my older Vision. My only regret is that I ordered my new canopies just before Aerodyne brought out the Mambe I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  24. Aus$35 Tandem Aus$10 Pack Aus$30 H/C (v.rare as we use outside cam) and you guys think you got it bad over there! I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  25. Pilot's where its at! Better (read more consistant) openings, great for progression and muchmore bang for your buck I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
